Quick Air Filter question

Recommended Posts

I have 2 K&N filters to choose from, which is better yous think? Can't get the XStream K&N cuz i only get these 2 to choose from.

Will be changing the TRD filter to K&N. Is the filter the bigger the better? If so the straight design K&N has a bigger filtering surface area.

This one is 1 inch shorter and has a funnel and is tapered in design. Uses 20ml of K&N oil.

This one uses 34ml of K&N oil so has a bigger filtering area but is straight.

The first one is the better of the 2.

I thought so too but why? Is it because it is tapered in design and having a funnel provides more air flow, less air pressure drop etc.? But its got less filtering area though, does that matter?

Post edited, i have swapped the 2nd one for the 1st with the funnel :P how indecisive but after seeing the 1st filter in the flesh it looks alright and i was assured its not too small for a 1800cc motor cuz V8s use them. Its actually wider than the straight pod so makes up for lost height, plus the funnel doesn't extend too deep down into the filter.
