DIY Reverse parking sensor installation

Hi !

I've a Tarago 2006 and recently bought a DIY reverse parking sensor kit (not from Toyota).

So far the installation went smooth however I now need to find the 12v reverse parking light cable I can use for the parking sensor.

This seems to be a big issue. The color of the cable going from the reverse parking bulb is violet. However looking at the bunch of cables that go from the rear door (where the bulb is located) into the car there is no such a color to find. Somewhere in between as it seems they have change the color. Any suggestions where I may find an easy access to get the parking sensor connected to the reverse parking light ?

Hey mate,

Is it possible to just splice into the violet wire coming from the bulb?

If the wire is too short just grab some power cable from supercheap, which is like 7 bucks and extend the connection. That would be your best bet if you get stuck.

Otherwise, grab a multimeter and test which cable provides the power in the car and go from there.

Splice into the violet wire as RollaRollin said and then use a test light to confirm the power.

I managed to put a wire from the bulb through the rear door, into the roof of the car and down to the place I need it.

It was a tricky task and a lot of trying to get the wire through the car's roof down to where the sensor box is - but it works just fine.
