Commodore SS Supercharged

Recommended Posts

On my way to work this morning caught up with a white commodore SS that sounded out of this world. I have never heard an engine on the street like it.

He was driving super conservative but the thing sounded like it was ready to take off. Stopped behind him at two sets of lights turned off the radio and wound the window down (well pushed the button down).

This thing sounded unreal the supercharger had a very very loud weird sound but really good over the burble of the engine.

I would have really liked to have seen him wind it up but, he only gave it one stab for a couple of seconds.

Anyone seen this car around number plate TUF - really awesome.

The monaro was built to be more of a modified road car unlike the ute with V8 supercar suspension and brakes and drivetrain. The Monaro still has fully adjustable suspension, Hollinger gearbox,Air jacks and a few other goodies we all would dream about. I will try to see if i can get a ride in it sometime soon.

The sound could well have been a gilmer belt drive setup. They make their distinctive whining powerful noise as the valleys and peakes in the belt sqeeze little pockets of air out of the teeth in the various cogs on the engine componants. You can actually have a Gilmer belt drive setup put in most cars, supercharger or no supercharger, one of my mates had it in his Gemini, it sounded awseome............... it still went like a gemini though :P.

No it's a Qld plated car. White SS Commodore. I've seen it a couple of times now he must work around the Balaclava St Wooloongabba area.

There's a few panel shops and other motor related repair shops there.
