I recently bought a Presara but the Toyota link was not working as it had never been activated and they said it was $814 to get a new module. I would like to try to change the battery / replace the sim but have NO idea where the module is.. Now it has been connected I get a red light on and when pressing a button it displays orange. Toyota Customer Care have NO idea on this and they pass me onto Toyota link - who then try to pass me back to Customer Care etc

Can anyone advise where the module is, can the battery or SIM (or both) be changed?

thanks

I'm pretty sure link had to be activated by the dealership.

Don't think you can't change the sim either.

Welcome to the forum. This is a situation where a search would have gotten you most of what you are looking for:

Toyotalink

Well here are the pictures of the backup battery and where it lives.

I have also included pictures of the antenna and connections.

Looks like I might have to do these separately.

Burning question!!

Hi All,

I have been wondering about this for a while and wanted to know the purpose of the black metal box in the boot just under the parcel shelf.

I have attached a picture of it for your reference.

Hope someone can answer my question....

Thanks.

As for changing the SIM card, this probably can be done, but you would most likely only be able to use it to receive calls since there is no dial-pad. On top of that, if the unit attempts to maintain communication with Toyota after you change the SIM card, these (call/data) fees would have to be covered by you.

Still a little stuck on a few things

1) where to buy a battery - is it clipped in or soldered

2) Is it inside that black box??

(I tried a search for "Toyota Link battery" but could not see it - apologies)

There are other posts on this but the battery is in the box but you need to remove the parcel tray (but not the seats) see other posts. I did this and replaced the battery because mine was stuffed but I mounted the replacement outside the box so that next time it fails I will be able to replace it easily.
