JZA80 OIL LEAK

Blakesupra

Recommended Posts

My son has recently purchased a 94 JZA80 supra N/A 5 speed model (he is on red P plates) ! We have just noticed his car is dropping oil on our driveway, it seems to be coming from left side dropping onto crossmember before falling onto ground. We can't see exactly where oil is coming from as we haven't had car on a hoist or jacked up at this stage. Hopefully this won't be an expensive fix !! Can anyone give an indication from experience where this oil may be coming from ??? I was thinking maybe seal around sump ?? Does anyone know of or can reccomend a mechanic within Newcastle area that would be good at looking at import cars and know their stuff about these vehicles ??? Thanks for any information in advance !!

It could be a multitude of things.

Cam Seals, Front or Rear main seals, sump gasket, dizzy seals (if it has a dizzy), rocker cover gasket... those would be a good place to start.

The actual parts themselves will not be expensive, however labour (especially from rear main) could be.

I could take a quick look if you liked. I've owned 3 Supras in the past and fixed many an oil leak on my own haha. Where abouts in Newcastle are you?

I take my car to Medowie Car Care I know a mechanic there and the owner, only mechanic in Newcastle I'd trust although they're not familiar with imports.
