Hi all!

Well my very fist car was a beautiful 73 TA22, sadly she's no longer with us, but I'm now looking to get another Celica, although a slightly more recent one now and while looking for info about the car that I'm wanting to get I found this forum and was really impressed! I'm by no means very savy when it comes to cars, my prefeference for cars is definately it sexiness factor so its really great to find such an informative site.

Anyway hopefully should only be about 2 weeks off getting one and what I'm looking for is a ZZT231R approx 2000 model (which I believe are referred to as 7th gen??) I have found a couple that I really like, but if anyone has any tips on what to look for, what to be wary of etc, then ur thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Also I can't seem to find any specs anywhere for them, I'm especially interested in the difference between a SX and a ZR. At this stage the only difference I can seem to find is the fact that the ZR has a sunroof? Apart from this site if anyone has any good sites to recommend that I could have a look at ie celicas for dummies sort if thing, that would be awesome!

Oh yea and btw, my names Sarah and I'm a brisbaneite, so def keen once I get my car to catch up for any meets/drive days etc

Look forward to chatting with u all soon!

Sign up to ozcelica, they know plenty about celica, I know all 7th gens came with the same engine but options lists were quite long for TRD parts and whells and other stuff. But i do not know much about them.

Cheers

Hope you find a great one. And always get them properly checked, the first year i think had a issue with the lift bolts.

Ah brilliant, thanks very much! Really appreciate it :)

The SX and ZR are pretty much the same. The SX has 15" wheels, no ABS and by extension no EBD and no sunroof (but was optional). While the ZR has 16" wheels and ABS and sunroof. In the test drive make sure to rev it to redline in 1st and second, make sure it is smooth, bar the 6000rpm kick. If it stops at 7200rpm, the lift bolts are broken and is a known problem especially in pre-2003 engines. I'll think of more today.

G'day everyone.

I have just bought a 7gen 1.8VVTLi and have checked the motor oil,p.s. fluid and battery.

However I am puzzled about how to add coolant.I have tried sticking a funnel in the overflow tube and gravity feeding water into the overflow bottle.

Does the plastic covering need to be removed or am I missing something?

Confused!
