the mic is located in the map light/ sunglass holder, go into toyota and buy a new one as it could be faulty or check the fuse "mayday/tel" it is located in the fuse box under the bonnet, it is a 7.5 amp located roughly in the top middle, shouldn't be hard to find. If that is blown then that could be your problem! hopefully that is as its a cheap and easy fix :D

OP, to check your mic, with the unit powered on, hold Info/Tel down, turn your parkers on/off 3 times, and you'll see a service menu pop up. Go to function/test then mic level, press record and speak, watch the level on screen. Press play to see how loud it is. By memory, you can adjust the sensitivity of the mic as well elsewhere in those service menus.

Also, what phone are you using? Have you updated the software of the phone recently? This may have an effect. Also, try pairing another phone and test.

yeah thanks for that, i have gone into menu option and fiddled with the mic settings ,still not the answer. i have a iphone 4 with the latest software installed it connects and i can hear people talk so im asuming its working correctly except for mic problem. so i decided to remove compartment in the sunnies holder where the on /off switch is there for lights , i have noticed no mic fitted ... i will try contact toyota today to see if a mic is available to purchase and try and install myself .
