About to launch into the Hilux world. Seems to drive really smooth and hoping will be able to pull the fuel economy down sub 10L/100kms what do think of my chances? Any value in looking at a later mode?

With the V6? No chance. On long trips you will (in all likelyhood) but any around town driving and it will shoot up. With the V6 most report an average economy greater than 13.5L/100km

With the diesel version, economy hovers between 9.5 to 11.5 depending on vehicle mods etc however it doesn't really get much better on long trips.

This is all assuming you're talking about the 4x4 models. If only the 2wd models expect to take around 2L/100km off those figures.

Hi david, welcome to the hilux would mate, hiluxes are great utes and the 4litre v6 is absolute perler, there very reliablle and powerfull and go like a scalded cat, in my oppinion one of the best engines toyota ever built.

Getting fuel down in sub tens like steve said, really is only possible on a trip and on the highway, but around town your likely between 12 and13L100, but personally I dont think there to bad on fuel, In my oppinion I like the v6 over the diesel, thats my oppinion, either way you will be happy with the hilux you cant go wrong.
