Hey guys,

Just bought me a 1994 2.8l TD Dual Cab 4x4 Hilux and having trouble trying to identify the type.

From my understanding the ln107 means dual cab and the ln106 is single cab?

Is this correct? Or is there something I am missing?

Regards

Jordan

just look at the build plate under the hood (normally on the firewall, back of the engine bay), the exact model will be on it.

Mine is an LN106 dual cab.

Numbers change based on engine/trans combination I'd assume seeing there is diesel and petrol variants. Not sure if the SR5 has a different code either.

Major necro, but this was on the first page of google searches.  I'm here to correct the record.

LN106 is a live axle in either single or dual cab.

LN107 is an IFS in either single or dual cab.

LN110/111 & RN110 are extra cab versions of an LN107 in diesel & petrol respectively.  IFS only. (110 is outside Aus and 111 inside)  UK has LN110 so you can still have RH drive, everywhere else is LHD.

KZN130 & VZN130 are the Surf versions of a LN107 in diesel & petrol respectively.  IFS only.  Designations in the name indicate trim levels...SSR, SSR LTD, SSR-V & SSR-X to SSR-G.  From left to right in order of nice stuff to strip out for your own project.

Don't quote me on this but I think 4-Runners are the Belmonts of Surfs.  2 door & 4 door (up to '93) and only 4 door after that.

Front quarters, bonnet...basically from the drivers seat forward they all share parts.

All surf parts are a straight bolt in.  Seats, dash, interior lights, brakes, gearboxes, transfers, diffs (including centres into housings), axles.

IFS bullbars don't fit SAS front ends, and vice versa.  Unless you like die grinders and egged out holes.

If you cut the front end off you'd never be able to tell what it was off of.  Except for trim levels and IFS or SAS.

Best brakes, trans, transfer & diffs are off a 3.0l V6 Petrol Surf

For the years and models refer to link below if you're going upgrades parts shopping.

http://www.hiluxsurf.eu/faq_general.htm#tech2

Be careful with surf transfers there's a bunch of different options electronic/chain, electronic/gears, manual gears, and I think but might be wrong electronic/gears.

LN 106 and 107 are probably the most popular of hilux models here in Sri Lanka. Both models come as dual cabs or single cabs, the main differences are that the 106's are only on leaf springs whereas the 107 has independent front suspension. 106 may be slightly ahead of 107 when it comes to off roading due to this, though 107 is a much more comfortable drive. 107 comes with automatic front wheel hubs.

107 also comes with more options such as sun roof, sports bar, etc.
