New car scratch.

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

My partner and I both have new toyota's. Camry SX and Corolla ZR.

After showing them off to friends we both notice there are some very light scratch in the gloss finish. It does bother us both

as we like to keep them looking new.

Living in Melbourne's west I was wondering if anybody knew of any good places to repair the scratch or any good products that

would fix the problem.

Any comment would be much appritiated.

You say very light scratching so chances are you don't need anything more than a light polish and a good wax afterwards, both of which can be done by hand if you don't have a machine.

I find AutoGlym Super Resin Polish an excellent all in one. It's more of a Polish/Wax/Cleaner (in that order) and will really bring out the finish of your paint (especially if it is that blue in your avatar). If the scratches are abit deeper but doesn't warrant any real cutting; Meguiars ColorX is not a bad choice. It's doesn't polish as well as the AutoGlym but does a better of job of removing defects.

Both will give you a layer of wax on the top but it never hurts to add a layer of wax on top of it. If you're shopping from your local Autocra-p/Supertheif/Ripco there are a few products you can buy. Avoid anything that says Polish or Cleaner on it as you'll strip some of the protective layer of wax from the polish.

A good how to wax guide can be found here
