Too bad for trulli with a damaged diffuser, otherwise i think he sud have finished with the Ferraris ;)

There'll be more testing before Mel GP so they sud be even more competitive there B)

Toyota will be back on podium soon - Gascoyne

20 March 2006

Toyota understands why its cars struggled so much in Bahrain and it will be back fighting for podium positions in 2006 before long, technical director Mike Gascoyne has claimed. The team claimed its first point of the season when Ralf Schumacher finished eighth in Malaysia.

"Clearly we managed to get the tyres working better this weekend," Gascoyne said. "It all went very well considering Ralf's difficulty in qualifying yesterday and that we had him on a two-stop strategy which we had to change to a three-stop. Based on that it was a strong performance."

"Ralf's pace in the second half of the race when he was in free air was very strong," he added. "We've just got to do that from the front of the grid, not the back."

"If we'd planned a different strategy for Ralf we could have qualified on the second row and he would have been racing for a podium," Gascoyne went on. "That's all ifs and buts but if you look at our race pace it's very close to Ferrari. I'm sure they'll score some podiums and so should we."

Indeed..

if they sort out most (if not all) the problems with the aero/chassis/bridgestone combination during testing this week

and if ralf & trulli have a trouble free race... toyota will be on the mel podium :D

Honda has been in the game for much much longer.. and they've never won a race either

Also toyota started a team from scratch i think 4 yrs ago, unlike other teams (renualt, honda, red bull) which buy out already established teams (with loads of experience) can hit the ground running

last season with the guidance of Gascoyne was their breakthrough season with a couple podiums

this yr the car is totally built by Gascoyne, so expectations are very high and I do believe we will win this yr

and i hope we do it before Honda :lol::lol: that will be one of the biggest upsets this season!

plus we have drivers that know how to win.. unlike button :P

I hope Williams do it before either of them and really stick it up the big budget, big spending for no result teams that are Toyota and Honda...

But I hope Toyota does well soon after too ;)

Yeah me to! Id like to see toyota up there!

I reckon Honda has 2 rather soft drivers racing for them this year.. well Button is consistent, he is not aggressive like Raikonen and Alonso but he is consistent and has been in the points consistently, just lacks that agressiveness to win (while Sato last year was over-aggressive :P). Button struggled so much to get past the backmarkers in Bahrain and Malaysia while Alonso, Montoya and the others got past easy. Barrichello needs a PERFECT car for him to get on the podium i think :( Honda should have used Anthony Davidson this year judging by his 3rd driver times he is pretty quick.

Anyhow we will see who bags the points from now on, i am with Honda F1 Racing bagging a podium for Melbourne :)
