1998 Tarago won't start when hot

My 1998 Tarago automatic (I am the second owner) is in good mechanical shape and is regularly serviced.
Recently, on a very hot day I could not restart it after it had been parked for about ten minutes.
There was no problem with the battery or the starter motor; it just would not fire.
After a further 20 minutes or so, it restarted on the first turn of the key.
Since then, it has happened several times, during which the combined wisdom of my own mechanic, two Toyota dealers who have not previously heard of the problem, and the NRMA has not been able to come up with a cause or solution. (The cooling system is fine, so that is not the cause of the problem)
It was initially thought to be related to high ambient temperatures, but has also occurred on cooler days
I wonder whether any members can help.

Hi mate,I recently bought an auto 98 model Tarago also in good condition. Ran perfect for the first month i had it. Now having the exact same issue as you. So far one Toyota centre have told me it's the injectors leaking fuel back into the cylinder and flooding the car when hot causing it to not fire.Wanting to charge me $476 each injector plus labour. Another mechanic suggested a problem with the sensor in the dizzy. Apparently they are close to the manifold and the added heat plays up on the sensor but only as it starts failing and why cold start is not an issue.I'm about to put a seconhand set of tested injectors in mine.See if that fixes the issue.(warning if u ever need to do the same re-use your original bottom rubber seals as you cannot get a set in Australi anywhere.) I have also got a secondhand dizzy from a wrecker to try replacing (these too are apparently hard to get hold of because of the manifold heat issue making so many fail).I hope this helps and if u have managed to find an answer i would appreciate any help or info you could pass aloN this way too plz. cheers.
