Hey all,

I have decided to get a cat-back exhaust and have been researching on here and found out that there is already a 2.5 inch pipe from the headers to the cat(s) and then it goes down to 1 or 2 inch to the mufflers so it makes sense to just replace from the cat.

Here is where i am stuck been to a few places and one said just replace the mufflers and if i wanted to do a cat back it would cost $800 and i think it was for stainless and have got other quotes for mid steel piping for about $800.

To confuse the matter even more i went to another exhaust shop and they said that they had done a few aurions and can make it sound nice with out a drone and $900 for stainless steel.

So my question for those that have got it done did you get mid or stainless and is it worth changing out the cats to high flow?

Thanks in advance, Andrew.

Do you really need cat back? no real gain in hp. I replaced the rear mufflers from the split, offset/centre 2" mufflers for $190 fitted. Sounds great.

Hey cranky, what type of muffler did you get?

hey guys so ive spoke with lambros at hitech mufflers about doing a cat back system for my 2008 aurion sportivo he has suggested 3 high flow cats and a 2/14 exhaust. i wanna get a nice note out of it has anyone done this and how does it sound. He said dont go bigger cause i would loose power bottom end.

I recently noticed this used cat back system on eBay with the description:

"2-1/2 into 2-1/4 cat back system; 304 ss pipe and 409 ss mufflers; All custom made; Car has been sold without "

I particularly noted that the last catalytic converter has been retained. More posted for information purposes for those possibly considering changing their exhaust system.

Personally, I rather like the stock standard exhaust system and have just upgraded the last catalytic converter to a 2.5" high flow 200 cpsi one.

If I was prepared to have the exhaust system modified and potentially louder, I would have considered a 3" higher flow cat with 100 cpsi. Most likely option would be move the joint between the resonator and front Y pipe forward then weld the cat to the existing OEM resonator.  This should then increase the exhaust flow.
