Tarago 2003 central locking not working - key starts car

Hi,

Hoping someone might be able to give some advice... please?

I've just bought a Tarago 2003, came with one key.

The key starts the car, but the central locking does not work.

Changed the battery in the remote, the light flashed once and that's it.

The doors won't lock or unlock. I tried the open door twice key on off etc, the car locks and unlocks, but the key still won't lock/unlock.

Not sure if I this is the master key.

Can anyone help?

The family is expanding and my Mrs is pregnant again, this will be 3 under 3. She needs central locking. Or my life will be hell.

If I can't get this sorted cheaply I think I will just grab a central locking kit from ebay for $33 and wire to the existing solenoids.

Please someone help before my head is hit with the frying pan again. I don't want her to have to tell me twice. She is a red head.

Sorry I should mention that the doors lock and unlock with the:

open door

key in and out twice

shut open twice

key in/out

shut open twice

key in

shut door

turn key once add (twice new)

But the drivers door does not lock all doors with the key in the door.

nothing happens when I press the remote buttons

If I use my garage remote the doors lock/unlock twice, error. I even set the alarm off of the flash new car next that was parked next to mine?

If you have a remote key that will be the master, another way to tell is look for the security light, when you put your key in the ignition it should go out straight away, if it stays lit for .5 of a second then you have a Valet...

When you have the door open and insert the key do you hear a chime??
