Hi all, I've noticed the other night while I was driving, these little flashes of light coming from multiple places along the side of my rear window. I managed to find it was coming from the rear demister. It looks as though the rear pillar trim has rubbed through the tint and against the demister.

How would one fix this?

Is it a new rear window?

Any help would be appreciated

So I thought I'd give an update.

I called Toyota an it turns out you have to replace the rear window, you can't just replace the demister.

I got quoted $1200...

I couldn't believe it I had to get him to repeat it, I was thinking I'd just have to wait until I could afford it.

Then I remembered I had excess free glass on my insurance, so I gave them a ring and it turns out they will cover it. Because it's part of the window they will pay for the replacement.

So now I just saved myself $1200 and I have a new demister, new window and new tint.

Hmm, I think I need to change my insurance policy in that case.

I've got an annoying chip out of my front windscreen, and my rear has bubbling in the tint, I think there's failed track in the demister, and the rubber around it on the outside has perished badly.

So the windscreen thing costs no excess or premium increases?

It's an extra when you take out fully comp, but I ticked all the boxes, so I get loan car one free window each year etc.

Some insurance policies have been known to provide multiple windows in a year but you would have to read you policy.

But yes, I got my front window replaced within the first 6 months of having my Aurion, and just recently I have had my rear window replaced.

And because I have tint listed on my policy, they replace that too.

All free of charge

So new rear windo, new rear demister, and new tint with no cost to me.

You're paying for it in your policy so why not claim it?

Oh just thought I'd mention, I'm with RACQ.

They will offer you to use RACQ auto glass but I went with obrien.

I should have gone with RACQ. Obrien replaced it, looks a bit odd but they will fix it if it leaks or breaks because of them. They also removed my rear seat for some unknown reason and didn't put it back properly so I took it back to them and they said bring it back later. I told them it's bull **** I'll fix it myself, it's costing me time and money to run back and forward and nothing's happening.

Won't be using them again. (OBrine that is)
