As per what has been previously stated, heaps of information on this topic is available in FAQ section, please use the think below :D :D

As a quick summary, 17" x 7" is about as big as you can go without an Engineers certificate. Some people have 18" but to my knowledge there are no tyres available in the country that will fit legally, meaning you would need a 215/35/18. This size is available but not with the correct Load Rating so there not legal.

Also Northy's comments about insurance are spot on. I'm currently with NRMA & I have no problem.

NRMA allow 35mm drop fron the factory height, as long as it makes the car no lower then 100mm (legal ground clearance)

they must changed their standard now. i just received a letter from NRMA that they are now cancelling my policy because i lowered my car more than 30mm from factory height.

how much did u lower by?

did they refund u the remainding balance?

30mm is NRMA MAX

i got King Lows and they should drop 35mm+.

they will refund the reminding to me, but it will take 5-10 working days...

Go with GIO - they told me over the phone as long as it's rta legal it should be fine. However, if I make a claim I need to pay an extra $100.

Yep thats who im with... didnt matter that i had my car lowered by 50mm.. they also know about my CAI :) and have no issues with it

Interesting Dennis, this is not what they told me when i insured my car last year. I was told as long as it is RTA legal than they would insure it. Must of had a policy change. I was thinking of going with GIO this year anyway, reminds me its due next week.

What i advise is that you guys should just update and make sure! Cos they could change there policy and maynot have known and if something happens then they say well you didnt follow up.

A belting? isnt it enough we have to pay 4 times (or upto 10 times as GIO once quoted me) the amount for insurance?!@#$
