Hi,

My sister has an 1998 ek1 honda civic automatic hatchback.

Now it is leaking oil wherever she parks.

just wondering, what usually causes oil leaks, how to fix it, and roughly how much it costs to fix the oil leak?

thanks in advance

Andrew, you need to provide more specific information. Is it leaking engine oil or transmission fluid? How much is it leaking; a few drops or a small puddle? A good idea to park the car with paper/cardboard underneath so you get a rough idea of where it is leaking. Have you checked the engine bay or underneath the vehicle? Assuming that it an engine oil leak, check that the oil filter is tight and also clean around the oil drain plug. Check the engine valve cover and the engine sump pan for visible leaks.

As Ashley said, make your questions more specific with more background information.

If this is not possible take it to a mechanic, they usually quote for free anyway.

ok thanks for helping people, it was due to a loose oil filter.
