Hey guys! I'm brand new to this forum. not sure if this forum is totally dead, but, I guess i'll ask the question anyway hahaha

So, i've owned this Sportivo for almost 2 months now, and ever since I have owned it, i've noticed the weirdest noise coming from the car. i have no idea what it could be, but i suspect it could be the transmission.

The noise only happens when i'm coasting with the clutch out. It gets louder the faster you're going, or the higher the RPM.

Example scenario:

Say, I'm accelerating at about 60kph down a road and I'm in 4th Gear. as soon as i let off the accelerator, and i don't have any pedals pushed in, this weird, metal on metal grinding/whirring/friction-y noise comes from somewhere in the car. I don't think its the brakes, because, whenever i push the pedal in, the noise is still there and hasn't changed in any way at all. So, my biggest suspicion is the transmission, specifically, the clutch or the Throwout bearing. I want to take my car to a specialist to have it checked out, but i don't want to go to some stealership without knowing whats wrong with my car first.

Has anyone else had this weird grinding/rubbing noise come out of their Sportivo? If it helps, mine is totally stock. nothing has been changed on the car in my ownership, or its entire history.

Any help or feedback would be really appreciated :)

- Josh :)

loose engine mount?

No need to go to specialist, should be easy to find out on the dyno, with one person looking at the engine

Hey mate, welcome to the forums.

Mine actually does something quite similar what you've mentioned. I've had a gearbox rebuild earlier last year and it has still remained after the rebuild. My gearbox was completely inspected at the time and everything else appeared in working order. I've never had gearbox issues other than destroyed synchro's but I believe it may be the diff making the noise.

I've been in a few other Sportivo's and have noticed the same sound. I believe it's more than likely a normal diff sound. You mainly have worry if you hear a solid clunk and feel it too meaning the diff is likely damaged and needs replacing.

As for the engine mounts, you'd likely feel a large amount of engine movement if they were damaged, it's worth a look to check they are done up tight though. The stock mounts in my opinion are rubbish and after about 20000 kms they will start showing excessive movement.

Hope this helps.

Anytime mate! If you get a video I could definitely say for certain but mine does have a similar noise when off the accelerator.

I'm due for a gearbox oil change soon but even after build it was a tad quieter.
