Hi. I own a 2014 yaris hatchback and the windscreen has just shattered while sitting in the garage. Nothing hit it and, from the way the glass is, it looks like it shattered from the inside out...  Has anyone else had this happen? Is it a yaris issue or an abnormal occurance?

Rear windscreen on my 2006 Aurion shattered last year. No obvious reason. Car was parked on the street and when I came home, most of the windscreen had shattered into small pieces. Internet searches indicated that it could be a flaw during glass manufacture involving impurities.

In my case, I was using the rear demister quite a lot so this could have contributed to the weakening of the glass structure. Since replacing the rear windscreen, I now rarely use the demister. Time may tell whether I might have been right.
