We've just bought a 2001 Toyota Harrier / Lexus RX300 for my wife to drive. A lovely car with genuine 83000 km's.

I've joined this forum to tap into the wisdom of other members to be able to keep it in good condition mechanically and to learn any little tricks there may be.

Welcome to the Forum.

It pays to read the Owners manuals even though we do not do it often enough.

Recommend always fitting quality known brand tyres. Same goes for using a quality full synthetic engine oil and other fluids.

Check your Owners manual to confirm that the recommended oil viscosity is 5W-30 [as per an internet search].

Regular oil and filter changes are a must. As a guideline, think about an oil change every 5-7.5K or 3-6months depending upon your driving conditions.

Hi Ashley,

Reading the owners manual is good advice. It brought to my attention a couple of features you don't find in most other cars and the location of the cup holders.

At the moment, I'm trying to find an upgrade replacement for the stereo system. I would replace it with something that has Apple Carplay but my concern is that if I remove the original system, the air con controls go with it.

Any suggestions on this?
