my 1995 manual corolla is not selecting gears when i first start it up in the morning, ill have to wait 10 minutes until it warms up before i am able to. once the vehicle is warm and I can start to select gears.

My initial thoughts were: 

When was the gear oil last changed ? and

have you checked the gear oil level?

the gear oil hasn't been changed since ive owned it, car is at 100'000kms.

ill do that and see how i go.

Definitely have the fluid replaced and then while they're at it, have them flush the hydraulic fluid for the slave cylinder. That tends to get neglected along with brake fluid. I suspect the clutch isn't fully disengaging which can bind the shift fork and not be able to enable a smooth transition in to gear/s.
