Importing accessories from Japan Toyota

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

On Tuesday, I take delivery of a new Corolla Ascent Sport.

While perusing the Toyota Japan site, I see accessories available that aren't available here, and it has got me beaten how I can buy them. Even my Manager at the Toyota dealership that I work at can't help.

Has anyone had any luck in this ?

I've tried sites like Etsy and Yahoo Auctions Japan, but no luck.

Is it worth trying to locate a friendly Toyota Dealership in Japan ?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Which dealership do you work at (not shaming/pointing fingers or anything)?  I know of a couple that seem to have a better appreciation of JDM market stuff (both for new and for classics)

That's pretty slack of him. I have a feeling he's either lazy or doesn't want to set a precedent.

God Forbid someone wants to support the brand he's loyal too..🙄

So, as a follow up. I spoke to our spare parts head honcho whose response was: "Sure. Just give us the part numbers and be prepared to wait 4 to 6 weeks."

Champion.

The moral is:

The plebs know what's going on. The managers don't.

Correct, in most cases.  Parts departments deal with this kind of stuff on a daily basis, dealer principals/managers/owners are often just business-people who only see numbers and bottom-lines (every so often you come across owners/principals who are also enthusiasts and their dealerships are often a haven for the aftermarket/JDM crowd - Castle Hill Toyota in Sydney is a prime example, they have always been one of the best places in NSW when dealing with imports)

I thought you were talking about the Parts Manager originally. I wouldn't image a dealer principal/owner manager would be bothered. You'd need to go straight to the source. Good to hear it worked out. 4-6 weeks will probably be 1 or 2 weeks.
