Beeping when locking & unlocking

Recommended Posts

Hi I have a 2010 Prado. Can anyone tell me how to turn off the beeping noise when locking and unlocking the car. Is this possible?
it’s annoying when leaving early in the morning and neighbours are close.Hope someone can help.

Hi Lyn it can be done but really needs you to locate where the beeper is located, unfortunately these days they hide the beepers in weird hard to get at locations.

It is designed as a safety feature so you know if walking away your car locks.

Your wonderful to be so considerate your neighbours but I would leave it and live with it myself. Maybe more seasoned minds on here will be able to let you know more information as I don't fiddle with any electronics with these computers on wheels.

in a 2010 camry altise there is a reverse beeper in the boot on the left hand side up near the parcel shelf...i dont know if it uses the same beeper as for the unlocking and locking but from what i can see it looks like up can unplug the cable to it....eg: like the charger cable to your mobile phone....dont quote me on that but thats what i see on my car

The beeper is located in the front end of the vehicle somewhere on your Prado. It could even be in the same spot as my 50 series Aurion, which is inside the wheel well of the driver's side front guard.

Have you consulted your user manual to see if there is an option there ?

If it's not listed in the manual, then It's most likely you'll need to have it disabled via the onboard computer. This will require it to be connected to a diagnostic device, such that at Toyota or another high end device.

Do you have the vehicle serviced by Toyota ?
If so, just have them do it nest time it's there.

Hope that helps.
Have a nice day Lyn 😊
