hey guys,

i got a mate whos got a 03' stivo its just had a few repairs done at the dealer under warrenty. before it had the problems fixed the VVTi-L would kick in at about 6k rpm and you can feel it. but now after toyota fixed the VVTi-L oil pressure pump tht kick in the back feel is gone. :(

we don't knw if there was a problem ever since he got it, or is it a normal not to get a kick in the bak feel wen the VVTi-L kicks in?

could u other stivo owners help us out with this?

so does anyone else feel this kick in the back sensation wen the hit the 6k rpm mark while goin up to 8200rpm?

Did they change the ECU also? That can smooth it out more. Believe it or not, where you think you've lost power you've actually gained in the mid range. That's why the kick back isn't as harsh this time as there's a little more response between 4,000rpm and 6,000rpm.

Sounds like your mates car hasn't had the ECU recall done and now it has :D Doesn't have less power but actually more earlier in the rev range. :)

I still get a pretty big kick when LIFT kicks in at 6200rpm and i have had the recall done a while ago. So what actually was fixed on your mates car, just the oil pressure pump?

they changed the ecu out with another stivos and then changed it back coz he couldn't get the car past 7300RPM after they put the original ecu back everything worked but the dealer told him tht the VVTi-L hesitated at 6200RPM so they went to work and found the oil pressure pump was faulty and replaced it with a work part off another stivo. he is still waiting for the new part to arrive and have it fitted!

oh ok!

well let us know how it goes after the replacement!

just for the record, lift should be from 6,000RPM - 8200RPM (fuel cut)

isn't it 5800-8600rpm for you :P

5,700 - 9,000rpm I think. Remember that Northy is a nutcase and likes power lol.
