Prado Unibolt Botched Up

Recommended Posts

Hi fellow Toyota drivers and Mechanical Mind Trust.   I need some advice.    Very recently after doing a Road Worthy a new mechanic I hadn't been to before replaced a Rear Uni Bolt.  In my Toyota Prado 1997.   Now up until this the car always ran fantastically.   I haven't had any issues and I always take care of my car.

After picking up the car after the job and as I began driving back towards home.   There was a really large vibration or more like what I would describe as loud nocking that I could feel through the entire car. It got very bad as I went into fourth gear.   I turned the car around and drove back to the mechanic.    Who straight away put it up on the hoist and said he needed to sort it out.  I left the car there again and they didn't call me until the end of the day to pick it up he claimed they had put in the wrong 'Brand' of part.   -  Since then then after driving the car two times.  I was pulling out of  the street and all the lights on the dash lit up.   The battery the four wheel drive and the park break light.   And just then the entire car engine just seemed to loose all its power.  Did not know what was wrong.  I let the mechanic know.   I called NRMA who replaced the Battery.   I drove once more and on my way home and whilst on the Highway as I changed the gear it felt like -  the engagement of the gears dropped out and there was no more power.  I pulled the car over and when I went to start. it again I could not put the car into gear.   The gearbox seemed frozen.    I had to get it towed and returned it to the mechanic.   To finnish this up.    I picked up the car yesterday. And on the second drive -the car has completely died again.   The motor lost power completely and I was lucky I was able to use inertia to get off to the side of the road.

When I picked up the car the last time before I greeted to take it.  I insisted that the issue was related as it was problematic as soon as I picked up the vehicle.   The mechanic has denied that the issue is related.  He said that even though when I left on that fist day he had actually fitted the wrong part into the Uni Bolt that there was no way that this could be related.  I have read what I can about the drive chain and I know my car and what has changed immediately after this shoddy repair and I know it is related.      Can someone please shed any light so when I go back in there I will be armed with information and he will not be able to tell me they are not at fault.   Thank you so much.
