Air con trouble

Tarago woes

Recommended Posts

I have a 1995 Gli tarago. When we bought it about 2 years ago the air con compressor was faulty so we had the local dealer replace it with a new one. Since then we have had an intermittent fault where it just doesn't get cold. Now matter how many times you turn it on or off when it doesn't want to work, it just wont work. The next day it can be fine..The dealer has checked all the wiring and tested for gas leaks, but they can't find the problem. Has anyone else heard of this? It's driving me insane as they are looking at it again today..

maybe its out of gas? it has been 2 years

also get a check done on the oil level while getting it pressure tested.

double check the fuses too..

mine would light up on the dash but not work it was a stuffed up relay.

also the aircon switch when taken out of the dash has 4 different switches.. its alot of playing around with and is best to trace it all the way from the compressor back to the dash

does it work on cold days and not on hot/warm days???

my old corolla had the same problem and it turned out to be the temperature gauge on the a/c unit. can be very costly to replace but some auto electricians can rewire it so it will by pass the temp gauge......

hope this helps....

I am sorry I never got back to this sooner..it turned out to be a faulty TX valve, and when the pressure of gas built up, it froze up, and when the pressure went back down, the valve would re-open...hence, if it wouldn't work in the morning it still wouldn't work in the evening..

all fixed now and it has been great ever since..

Thanks for your help

Tracy
