Toyota LLC is the best to use as it keeps the water galleries corrosion free. Any type of coolant should keep a 20V "cool", but the Toyota stuff is the best in terms of engine protection. If the car's overheating or running hot, then you probably have a crud buildup in your radiator core from using water or the typical green coolants. If that's the case then get the radiator core serviced and replace the thermostat, then you should find the car runs cool enough that the fan hardly ever comes on.

Agreed with the boyos,The genuine coolant isnt only recommended, but toyota make one the best coolants on the market today,I work for an automotive reseller, ive sold eveyrthing to Tectaloy to the genuine Holden & Ford coolant, luckly for me the late apollos are still using the toyota coolants,I recommend never ever touch aftermarket coolants theyre never on par with the real deal...stay with the genuine ,a lil pricier but ur paying for a quality product..

Toyota Long Life Coolant (Red LLC) is good stuff that lasts 40,000kms or 2 years...

Toyota Super Long Life Coolant (Pink SLLC) is even better and it lasts 160,000kms or 8 years and then every 80,000kms or 4 years after that...

Not too sure if you could use SLLC on older cars tho, being the corrosion process would have already slightly started...
