  1. 1993 Toyota Celica SX Liftback (Blue) ST184 - Was my first car and first ownership of a Toyota. After failing to find a decent Nissan Silvia S13 SR20 in manual, opted to go for Toyota since the family mostly owned Toyotas. Looked at a few GT-Fours but no good examples so settled on the SX. Also thought that a non-turbo car would be the wiser choice at 18. Turned out to be a great first car to drive on my P's. Many fond drives/cruises/experiences were had with this car. 2008 Toyota Corolla Levin ZR ZRE-152 After receiving my full licence, decided on 'moving on' to a Nissan S14 200SX Series II. Lol. Dad convinced me to stay in the Toyota family since mum still works there (cheaper parts yo). So this time i looked into a sportier car. Looked at the ZZT Celica range to upgrade from my SX but never researched LIFT or 2ZZ engine = fail. Asked dealership about a 08 Sportivo, was told there is no such thing so settled on the Levin ZR. Three years on still going strong, despite a few hiccups here and there its a great car to drive/cruise around with. Many mountain runs and a few track days later and im happy. Its such an under rated car, and has lots of potential for either street/daily/track/cruiser/show. Still always learning more and more about the car and love playing around with it.
  2. something that goes doof doof i think...
  3. Tyres + wet = bad. I could of have told you that Ben. =P. You dont even need a night/wet track session to teach you that. Although it does help you anticipate braking/locking up ABS in the future particularly in the wet. I've had many close calls with ABS in the dry let alone the wet. I believe the distance between you and other cars/environment plays a big factor in what happens. No matter how good your tyres and brakes and driver skill is, once you've lost traction thats it, its just what you do next that matters. Kudos to you though for hitting up Eastern Creek in the wet+night. You friggin crazy man!
  4. First of all, welcome to the club! Secondly, you've put this in the wrong thread. MODs please move to Members Ride section Thirdly, nice work on your 1ZZ. I recommend you getting a 3A Racing pod filter to replace the Injen one. The stock Injen one seems quite restrictive and 3A Racing have been highly recommended for its flow/filtration by myself and many others on this site. B)
  5. I've left them a message too but no reply since. Wonder what grade the stainless steel is? 304 you'd hope. I might end up doing a custom catback job. That way, i can have things done the way i want. It will be more expensive end of the day but more worth it i hope. I'll still get a XForce muffler though. XForce needs to be more informative about their exhaust system for the ZRE Corolla and list their specs/materials/components. Cant just say bla bla bla 'exhaust system' and expect people to jump at it. List your material used, pipe size, mandrel or press bent, muffler type, predicted decibel reading, pictures of the system and parts off car and on car. <_<
  6. Yes the Injen Hydroshield has been debated over much in the past. Many say and swear that there will never be a need for it unless you drive into a river and hydrolock. I think its all up to personal preference. I took mine off as i felt it restricted the airflow. Im not shunning the product because for what it is and how much it costs and its effectiveness it really is bang for buck.
  7. i swear i want to buy a skateboard... dump it and put fluro orange wheels on it. B)
  8. The rims specs in question should be fine mate. guys have done 17x8 and 18x8.5 and even 17x9. +35 or +38 would be flush offset. 215/45/17 may give you a slightly stretched look with the tyres on 7.5" wide rims.
  9. Hrmmm... if i can actually see this exhaust design/setup then i'll think about it.
  10. CAI or SRI + Headers + upgrade exhaust piping (2") + hi-flow muffler + Unichip piggyback ECU = power. Check Ben Yips ride thread. He's pushing 86.6kw tuned for mid-range power/throttle response which after driving his car i felt a definite improvement through the revs. Pretty much most of the mods you can do still staying in the N/A format. If you want you could take a risk and go bigger injectors, fuel pump etc etc. Which then you might want to start doing some internal work. Im not so sure if you'll have improved economy because with performance mods you'll be pushing your engine harder and therefore burn more fuel regardless of what you do. Although a CAI and a decent exhaust system will help the engine breathe much better. Maybe with a AFC (Air/fuel controller) the A/F ratio can be tuned to run more optimal. Dont expect very high gains from these mods though, although mid-range throttle response will be significantly improved where the drive-by-wire 'laggyness' has always been felt. Which is all you really want isnt it. I wouldnt really bother with any throttle controllers but if your really keen on it then there is a Blitz Throttle controller available for the ZRE. Goodluck.
  11. TOMs Racing calipers eh?? :P
  12. If things changed then i'll come along. But im not sure yet. Maybe....
  13. The Logitech G27 kit looks crazy!! Goodluck with the sale pete. Im an xbox guy. :P
  14. ST184 was my first car. I'm glad to hear its still going strong after 300xxxkms. Good work. B)
  15. Me likey the wheels. TEIN coilovers + EDFC ftw. #Baller-spec suspension
  16. Anything lower than 35% is illegal. I dont think your exhaust would of been over legal decibels though. Did you get the DB reading? Was it over 90db? Towhook obviously easy fix. hrmmmm... gay <_<
  17. Kebabs wednesday night? win win. Me and pete in for sure! B)
  18. Sorry guys unfortunately im dropping out of this meet. A close friend from new zealand is coming over last minute on Friday so i'll be busy over the weekend. :( Hope to see you all on the next one.
