  1. Yep, plate was obscured alright. Never had a problem with the police, even when I was doing something stupid. I rant about this a lot (several posts in reply to P plate related 'targetting') so I'll spare everyone this time around, if you are actually keen on my views, feel free to do a search.
  2. Thanks daryl... But for the love of god... Please don't give her ideas on pulling my baby apart!!!
  3. Heyy Dean, i think you posted in the wrong section >> Spotted: NSW edit: unless you moved to VIC :P I posted in the right section... Down here for work
  4. Spotted a real schmick looking wildfire trd aurion at the corner of fern tree gully Ed and springvale rd at about 530pm today
  5. The process goes something like this: 10 minutes to completely vacuum the interior and dust down plastic surfaces 40 minutes to completely wash and dry exterior 20 minutes to wipe down door sills, door jams, hinge areas, boot surrounds, engine bay 10 minutes to clean interior and exterior glass 10 minutes to wipe down all wheels and tire shine So all up it can take me around 1.5 hours to completely clean my car. It sometimes takes less, sometimes takes more. It all depends on how dirty it gets. The interior doesn't get too dirty, but the door sills get quite dirty. In the Summer months, my fortnightly waxing adds a good 3 hours to my cleaning process. I love keeping my car clean though. That said, the interior surprisingly stays pretty clean with the windows down. It's not like a dust storm going through the car or anything. It's just habit for me. The moment I start the car, my immediate first thing to do is put the front windows all the way down. Anyways watersmj, to keep a response to the original question so as to not deviate from the topic much, try looking into tires designed as a touring tire. Those are usually aimed towards comfort which also results in lower road noise. I gave up cleaning my car to be honest, I do it about once a month now. It was too painful to see the car dirty again the next day when I had to go visit a concrete site or even at the office where I parked in an open air car park that had a brick plant up wind of it. Even now I've changed jobs the car just gets too dirty too quick and on top of that, the paint job completely depresses me while I'm washing it with the swirl marks I inherited from the previous owner. :(
  6. No, they treat you differently if you have an attitude problem, or drive a vehicle that looks it was built with an attitude problem. You may not think you drive badly, but have you seen what your driving looks like from 2 cars behind you? Did the cop that tailed you for 40 mins actually pull you over for anything? I'm wagering not... and if this is the case, you should be grateful he was just giving you a bit of a scare in the rear view mirror, rather than just pulling you over and doing you for something ludicrous. Reminding you he is there is effective road policing. ...and to reiterate what Hiro/MR22ZZ/DJKOR/Brad! have already said... if your tint is legal, you have nothing to worry about. If you get pulled over and checked with this machine, you will only get booked if it is too dark. Likewise; if you don't drive around showing off the sound of your intake, you are not going to be a target for the blues and twos. Drive within the limits, or quit whinging. Please choose one... (sigh) Absolutely agreed. I'm a P plater and have had a couple of police run-ins in my time, first time was about 50m from my house, forgot to pick up my wallet when I went to go out and also had some kids nick the magnetic P plates off my car. Copper was nice and liked my explanation of "I'm just a ****head officer" and let me be on my way with a reminder that I should carry my license at all times. Second time around I was speeding through some quiet streets after getting annoyed at someone tail gating me when I was doing 50, put my foot down and was approaching a roundabout when I noticed a cop on the other side, got on the brakes and a wheel unloaded over a bump and I made a little screech while pulling up. I pulled over before he even flashed me because I knew I stuffed up and he told me thats why he was only giving me a warning. Regardless of if you're a P plater or not, give the cops respect and they'll respect you. I really don't know where all this "P platers are targetted" stuff comes from, because I've only ever had good experiences with the law while driving, maybe the people that are complaining simply have an attitude problem. Back on subject, I think this is an OK thing, I mean, I run a 35% tint on my Aurion and there are times when I feel like it is too dark, especially at night as it is harder to judge just how far behind you the lights of another car are. Maybe its just me, but I'm satisfied with that. Like any illegal mod, you have no right to be upset when you get defected for it, the laws are clearly written, get over it.
  7. So, randomly asked question thats specific to me, I know there have been a few threads on it, but opinion is desired. Recently my wife destroyed a couple of tyres on the Aurion while I was up the pub (we only have one car, so she needed to be driving it to pick up my intoxicated backside before anyone asks why I let her) So rather than replacing them with the rubbish I had on, I decided to pick up a set of Bridgestone Adrenline Potenza RE001's... After hearing about the price and reading about the wear rating, my wife flipped her wig so instead I picked up a set of Pirelli PZero Dragons (235/40R18) I'm finding the tyres really responsive and that I'm now able to put a lot more power down to the road without the TC kicking in or spinning wheels, the car totally transformed with them. Now my biggest issue is that the new tyres really made the body roll of the car apparent, so I'm considering a few options. Coilovers, really keen on doing this, but I understand that the ride can be really rough with them and I want to avoid a repeat of my commodore in so far as saying I want to have a car that feels like it actually has suspension... Or would I really just be better off going for front braces and rear sways and seeing how I like that first? I feel the car would absolutely benefit from a stiffen up in the suspension but I'm not sure where I want to go with it exactly. Any advice, opinions, encouragement, discouragement or otherwise just yelling at me for the sake of it will not go astray, thanks guys.
  8. Does say that, but I have to say, $28k is a lot for the KMs on it.
  9. Darn was really keen on this, thanks for your effort Ari, hope you have better luck next time.
  10. Solution: Don't crash, the Aurion is WAY too nice a car to destroy. :)
  11. The second key isn't slightly greyer than the other one is it? If so, it's probably the service key. Ha - I just compared the two and you're right, the second one is grey! The end of the service key is cut better too. So I gather then that two sets of keys aren't given when the car is sold anymore? I can't say I've heard the term service key before but it would have the same effect as a normal key correct? Thanks for the right term Daryl, I should stop taking what my brother in law says as fact! :) Daryl is right, I believe it won't unlock the glove compartment either... That aside, I'm not aware of the fact that the 6th gen camry did not come with a second set of keys and judging by the fact that my Aurion did, I can only assume that one of your sets is missing. Probably best to just hunt around ebay for a replacement fob and get another key cut.

  13. Worked with GPS units for a couple of years, sounds like it may be an antenna problem (possibly not connected properly?) take it back to Toyota because either way, it shouldn't be doing that.

  15. Sorry to hear it man. Gl with what ever you do next. -Azza Now employed again, see you guys around Silverwater Road/Fariola St in the near future. :)
  16. I'd consider it no less than an ex-rental. Basically I see things this way, you buy a second hand (older car) without books or a full history, you have no idea what its history is. Just treat the purchase the same way as that, do some thorough checking and make sure the car has been kept up on servicing. Remember you'll always find good ones and you'll always find bad ones, don't trust the advice of people on a forum who have not seen the cars in question, investigate thoroughly and you shall be rewarded with some real cheap quality, just remember the old saying, 'caveat emptor'.
  17. My Aurion is ex-rental, bought it late last year with 35,000kms on it. So far it has not missed a beat (now has 62,000kms on it) and other than a few nicks and scratches on the interior and a few missing bits and pieces it was more than worth the purchase price (paid around $23k for the SX6) Only thing I've had to do to it outside of the maintenance schedule is machine the rotors and replace the pads... The shocks hiss like mad though, so I'll be replacing them soon with coilovers. I love my car and have no problems with buying another ex-hire car, only thing I recommend is absolutely getting a proper mechanic to check it over and also check for accident history. The great thing about Hertz especially is that if you buy the car directly from them, they have a policy that any cars they sell direct to public have not required more than $2000 in maintenance and/or repairs.
  18. As stated in the Aurion thread, I'm keen on it.
  19. Sounds good, should be employed again by then and I pick the Aurion up from the smash repairer tomorrow... unless I'm moving (owner of my house has decided to sell) I should be good.
  20. Not sure what it will acheive, but there is a petition about this. Feel free to sign: Linky
  21. For the love of god, don't give them ideas!
  22. I thought the limit was already 50mm anyhow? I remember when I was playing with my 4wd I was concerned about the limit being raising it more than 50mm, I figured the same would be for lowering as well?
  23. Until recently I was working in IT Support looking after all things concrete, from order taking to batching automation. Received a redundancy on monday and not sure where to go from there :-/ The prospect of finding a job at this time is daunting.
  24. You're not going to earn any friends here by speaking like that. DJKOR is a very respected member of our community and has given A LOT in terms of knowledge to all of us. Thanks man. I didn't want to question with the language barrier so I just let it be. I'm with SupaTouring on this one. Because the TRD is limited in nature, the owners of them should be more concerned about keeping it as such and not aiding towards stock depletion. It has been seen that there are Thai kits that look like the TRD Aurion kit and it would probably be best for anyone that wants the TRD look, to go for this option instead. The way I see it for those overseas who don't have the TRD Aurion.... too bad, so sad. To be honest, never saw the point of dressing a car up to look like something it is not. Now I understand the Thai boys didn't actually get a TRD, but they have much cooler looking kits available to them at cheaper prices than TRD will ever be. Personal opinion, not bashing on anyone in particular, just stating that I simply do not understand the drive to make your vehicle out to be something it is not. Subtle mods here and there that enhance the look of the car I can see (and am guilty of) but going out and copying something seems to defeat the purpose to me.
