  1. if you are in melbourne anything from japan go to motorware or n-1. they have agents in japan and if you are serious in purchasing they will source for you. n-1 is our distributor for cwest and motorware carry ings. if you do not need japanese parts then you should try carmate in sydney. they have a few body kits for corolla 02-03 in hatch and sedan. they have trd m type copy and sportivo copy.
  2. 6.5 this will give you a little bit of help http://www.2003corolla.org/diy.php?diy=12
  3. trd141 good work. have you thought about making a heat shield? people often use big tubes (clarke rubber, bunnings, swimming pool) to feed a rampod with more cold air.
  4. i heard a remus on a corolla 02-03. it was twin tip and it was just a little bit louded than stock.
  5. i was the only person to go from here. there were no sportivos but i saw two hatches. the night was like fast and the furious. hot cars, neons and loud music. the car park at bunnings moorabbin was filled with street cars. i think there was 800 cars.
  6. your car looks right. you can try cutting your bump stops in half if you want to go lower. americans are doing it in their sedans. kings springs are the only springs i have found that are chopped at the ends. lovells, pedders, teins are full springs from end to end. the last coils on king springs are chopped in half horizontally therefore flat ends. no other manufacturers do this. i find king springs have thin powder coat paint whereas lovells and pedders are thick.
  7. lovells and pedders are the only australian manufacturers to make springs for zze and 2zz. king springs re-uses stock from the old corolla ae. the struts in an ae might be identical to zze/2zz but the car shell is different in size and weight. trd141 i did not want to say this but now it looks fine to do so because you still have not sold you springs. you do not reset king springs because they fail. you were rubbing on 17" wheels because your springs had failed. i assessed your reset springs with my hands and i know. they would also rub on 15" and 16". the only springs i have reset and they still work well are TEINS. all other springs should be cut even if they are progressive/variable rate. cut eibach, cut kings, cut lovells, cut pedders, cut teins. do not reset springs!
  8. corolla and commodore are very different cars! enough said because we should not write about "other cars".
  9. tomorrow! if you are coming please remember to bring $ for car cruise map and donation to good friday appeal.
  10. i never regular service with the dealer because i find they are poorly trained. i only use them for warranty but it must be free of charge. 215-40 is fine but toyota should know the truest match is 205-45. the difference is a tiny 12.5mm but i think they should know.
  11. good to hear you have a good dealer but do you have lock nuts? i do not think so from your picture. nearly every dealer that sells a package will have lock nuts and especially from chrome wheels. did you request 215-40 ? 205-45 is a typically a truer match for your speedometer. and if you can please let me know what load rating are the tyres you have. i am seeing a dealer on saturday but if you could let me know beforehand that would be helpful. federal ss595 is the best tyre from federal.
  12. please see echo forum for echo on 18". i have more pictures but i do not want to anger the people who started this forum with "other cars".
  13. from melbourne auto salon 2004. echo on 18" very expensive wheels!
  14. low profile tyres should be rougher because there is less rubber between your wheels and the road. you should feel bumps and holes more. you should have increased handling because of the federals. federals are lovely but rare. i think the dealer used these because the load rating is 88. the only other brand i have found with 215-40-17 rating 88 is nankang.
  15. federals lovely! chrome is very heavy that would mean the car now drives differently. looking in your wheel wells it looks like your car was made in south africa. was it? wheel wells in corollas (i do not know about sportivo) from south africa are finished hard but from japan they are soft.
  16. i have already said the general rule i know is wheel width plus 2. there is just one rule.
  17. engine is a key part but you would also want most if not all other parts to be first rate. it is a hassle to go to the dealer for warranty repairs.
  18. please remember when you say 175/185/195 it has nothing to do with 14". 175/185/195 relates to width. the general rule i know is wheel width plus 2. therefore for 5" width the maximum size should be 177.8 (5" + 2) 1" = 2.54 if you use 195 then the tyre will be fat over the wheel sides.
  19. is tsport right for ascent? they are both 1.8L engines.
  20. skitzo you might want to read this http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Miscellaneous/exhausttheory.htm
  21. skitzo thanks for your positive words. only a few manufacturers have a whole exhaust system for 1.8L corolla and i think these are hard to come by in australia. therefore you would most likely purchase different brands. the canon would be a brand name part (xforce, magnaflow or generic no name) whereas the piping is usually dealer fabricated from mild steel or stainless steel. piping can be mandrel bent or press bent. you only change your original piping if you want bigger diameter piping from the catalytic converter to the canon. you might also want to change your catalytic converter to a high flow converter. the more parts you change the more $$$ you need. for just tone you should replace your muffler with a canon which has resonator. without resonator it will be very loud like a rocket. cheap canons typically drone all the time whereas remus will sound loud when you accelerate hard but quiet when you are going steady.
