  1. do not rely on warranty if you performance modify your car. many people start their modifications once their car has passed its warranty period. i have said this before but who takes a performance modified car to the dealer for service?! if you break your contract do not fault toyota.
  2. i have said in the decal thread that i have a vinyl machine. i could make vinyl stickers for our cars but my costs need to be fully covered. i would only make a 6-12 pieces at a time. i can also organise full colour paper stickers (bumper sticker style). a minimum run would be in the hundreds. magnets too. these can be die cut so they look like a car. stick on your car or take off whenever you like.
  3. 2?|-Gene,Apr 1 2004, 12:56 PM] So Orrock, did you get one of the black badges? I'll be interested in one if you're going to get one. i need to check the size and pin locations. camry could be different to corolla hatch and sedan. why are there pin holes? the only reason i can see is that they guarantee a straight sticking of the badge. if the pin locations are different then the pins will need to be cut off. this would be easy as they are only plastic and there would be no problem with fixing it because the adhesive backing is what fixes the badge on.
  4. i think it would be better to purchase a brand new item. it is only $4.60. i do not want a used item because the adhesive backing would be messed up.
  5. did you know that the black pearl toyota emblem found on camry sportivos only cost $4.60 each including gst. i thought all genuine parts cost a lot but i was wrong.
  6. peekay ok. going inside MAS is semi-cancelled now. however the meet is still on. we will see who arrives at the meet and then decide whether to go inside MAS or do something else. the meet is for all members of this forum and their friends. if you want the time and location you must private message me.
  7. ozviking i know but your post prompted me to write on what i thought the workings are.
  8. i do not think dealerships have the authority to supply and install a new engine under warranty. i understand the dealer would write a letter to toyota australia for authorisation. if there are many letters for new engine authorisation i believe toyota australia will get tough on granting authorisation. i understand subaru australia got tough on wrx owners who were returning because of engine problems. many had aftermarket exhaust but replaced it with stock before going to the dealer for warranty. subaru australia did not like this.

    Tyres

lots of people use falken tyres. go to a big open car cruise and most cars would be on falkens. the word is not spelled with "i".
  10. for a cleaning agent not spirited use eucalyptus oil.
  11. it often helps to take your car for service with a new toyota dealer or a reliable mechanic unless you are sure it is bent/stretched linkages.
  12. that is what apple computers said to its customers a few years ago with a macintosh computer that was faulty (poor wiring/connection) from the factory. it was only a matter of time until the computer monitor would blow (symptoms flashing monitor and popping sound). many monitors would blow straight from the box (dead on arrival). most monitors would blow 2-4 weeks later. there was no recall and customers were upset. yes it was under warranty but customers need to find time to go to service. typically when things are serviced the parts that are removed/repaired/replaced never go back as good as factory.
  13. a small problem can easily and quickly turn into a big problem. do you know why toyota say it is "normal" for a new car to make ticking noises? i think there is something wrong unless toyota can give you a good explanation why there are ticking noises. does the sales brochure or owners manual say there will be ticking noises?
  14. 4 members are going so far. 2 members are only going to the meeting point as they cannot stay for MAS. this leaves 2 members going to MAS. admission is $20 and a complimentary copy of autosalon magazine will be given away with the purchase of a ticket. i chose saturday because it seemed the best day to get people together. i am thinking of changing to sunday now. i feel there is little point in running this. i know the motivation is there as members have been writing for a meet and cruise for months. but it now looks more attractive to go on sunday with other car clubs.
  15. americans have written about this problem too. corollas are sensible and typically reliable cars therefore the seats are not low profile even in the sport models. some americans have modified their seats/rails to sit low.
  16. vinegar is good to clean windows. most kitchens have vinegar but i do not know if it will fix your problem.

    Tyres

i like what you said but i understand they are manufactured in south africa. i remember the words "made in sa" on the side wall.
  18. trd141 now you need to install it. does your item light up? if not you might want to replace it for an item that does or else it will be hard to read at night. are you putting it in a pod holder or a seat bracket? there are rules to where you can install gauges. please see vicroads for more information.
  19. chapel street style #15 and #18 may hurt some people http://www.wog.com.au/article_main.asp?ArticleId=372
  20. i have used a mobile repairer on a lancer and laser. the result was good. of course it is not as good as having the whole panel repainted. but it was good for the $$$ spent. i think the colour watching for mica paint was 95% identical to orignal.
  21. watch out for trucks with open loads. even if the load is empty there is still loose debris in the tray that flys backwards. avoid freeways during the day when there are many trucks if you wish to protect your car from flying sand, dirt, rocks, grass, stones. this could be why people use car bras in the city.

  23. my car has only been scratched by myself accidentally. avoid undercover car parks. avoid car park levels that have supermarkets therefore more trolleys. what i have read here is small but would upset anyone. no one wants their car damaged. my friend returned to his car in an undercover car park to find a corner of his front bumper smashed with a shopping trolley. the side marker was broken and part of the bumper was hanging to the ground.
