  1. Yep because its a hydraulic mechanism and sensitive to everything relating the engine oil ...scratches head...
  2. Not trying to crash the party but didn't we mention before that dyno results will be more acurate if the car is dynoed on the same day same time same settings. I see that Northy got his car dynoed 3 weeks apart. It would be more accurate if you have the mod on site ready to be fitted after the initial baseline dyno. That way you minimise discrepencies. The CAI is still a great mod though and i have no doubt it improves horsepower and torque but how much is too difficult to tap.
  3. It's Friday and i am still waiting for my freaking letter !! Losing patience here Toyota!
  4. Welcome to the forum mate! You can still get good increase in performance with NA tuning but it also means big bucks. In Japan they have JUN, Spoon and Mugen for Honda tuning and they can make big hp if you are willing to spend the money. Or look at the US they turbocharge nearly all their VTEC Hondas and for half the money of NA-tuning they get double the power. It all comes down to how much you want out of your car and the amount of $$$$ you got. I would also take into consideration durability, reliability, practicality and resale value. Zee
  5. Yes it was woolloongong, they have scheduled me in for a week on Sat, they are bringing one of the mechanics in that weekend to fix it and they are giving me a car for the day to cruise around in so im not stuck with nothing to do :). Ask for a Celica or MRS mate and i will meet up with you for a cruise :P ..dream on..
  6. I have yet to receive my letter. What warranty work are you getting done Xoom? I would like to ask them to check the brakes, steering, shock absorbers and clutch. Would you guys be able to tell me if this letter is actually written by Toyota Motor Corporation Australia or by the Toyota Dealership you purchased your car?
  7. What the heck! Was it Wollongong Toyota mate? I thought this was supposed to be an enhancement for our cars not something that screws it up
  8. So up till now whos the fastest 2ZZGE and 1ZZFE? Seems like the 1ZZFEs are kicking our ****s!! What is Shao's time with the lightweight fly and better clutch i would expect a 0.2 sec deduction in 0-100 and 0.5 deduction for 1/4mile. I know the updated Euro Civic TypeR with a new lighter flywheel managed to drop 0-100 from 6.8 - 6.6s.
  9. i paid $175, got it from Revolution Racegear Wollongong. I think Repco overcharges for some stuff. I asked them for King Springs and they sell for $171 a pair!!! That's Wollongong though.
  10. Not sure mate, but i wouldn't recommend it because the filter material used by AEM might be different to K&N.
  11. Must have been some drunk from the bar mate, i feel sorry for you man :( Anyway all the best with the car, and hopefully your premium stays low enough for you to keep the Stivo :) Zee
  12. Great run Northy. I noticed the Stivo is quicker to 1000ft and has quite a quick 147km/h trap speed. How did the Stivo get a quicker 1000ft time but a slower 1/4mile ET? Also what was your trap speed? Zee
  13. Cool mate, at least you know you did what you could legally. Just be more careful from now on. Park the car somewhere "safer" next time. I would hate to see you sell the Sportivo just because of some idiots doing sensless things :( BTW what did the police recomend you do the last time?
  14. Who told you this BS. I've been using TRD CAI for a yer now, we have rainy/snowy winter for 6 months a year and no problem. Even largest puddles are no problem at all. To get hydrolock you'd have to go as deep as the top of wheel arches... The thing is most of you guys have the car lowered which also mean the pod is closer to the ground, and when you drive over puddles after heavy rain especially on the freeway at higher speeds there is a greater risk of sucking some water through the pod. Also i said to prevent full trottle opening in heavy rainfall because the suction from the pod is much greater. Although most filters like K&N are oil based, its not water proof and you are still taking a risk. And Danz, be careful not to over oil the filter. The oil can get on the airflow metre sensor and its not good for the engine over time. Zee
  15. If you read my words properly and think deeper you will realise there is no right or wrong! These are determined by culture, society, civilisation... Hence it doesn't matter what you do, you HAVE TO FACE THE CONSEQUENCES! That is Karma = Cause and Effect, no right or wrong. You do something be prepared for the same to happen to you. As to your example, if the society you live in tolerates that sort of thing then i guess there is nothing wrong with killing. But don't forget you then live in a condition whereby killing someone is acceptable and you will have to accept the possibility of being killed too. Makes sense? Anyway better get back to topic. I would suggest T-Sport make a police report. Zee
  16. Did you have your car dynoed? And also did the new cable and gearknob solve the shifting problem? Thanks in advance. Zee
  17. It was a common problem in the New Type R and 1999 Celicas because they made the gates very close to each other for easier and quicker shifting but you saw what happened to some drivers that were enthusiastic with their driving.
  18. Karma is the "Law of Cause and Effect". It is in everything around us and everywhere. It is just part of life but it sometimes sound so mysterious because nobody truly understands or thinks about it. In this case, if you do something you have to accept the consequences. It may come tomorrow or 50 years down the road but the consequences will fall on you but very frequently in a form we least expect. But if we think about what we have done, it all makes sense. Karma is one of the most debated topic in the world and that is because people are unwilling to accept the fact that we have to be responsible for our actions and there are consequences for everything we do.
  19. Didi yas check out the post of the Type-R misshifting from 3rd gear to 2nd gear? Go back a page or two and you should find it. Northy hosted it for me and that poor bloke over-revved to approx. 11000rpm (Redline 7900rpm)!!
  20. Can you do that close to 100% of the time? Because if you are driving even slightly downhill you will land in LIFT easier. The only way i would be able to land above 6200rpm every shift is to hit rev limit on a level road, or to flat shift (never tried) or perform a super fast shift which i can perform in the other cars i have owned but not in the Stivo as i am paranoid about crunching 2nd gear which i have done on more than a few occassions already.
  21. I usually bang the limiter at least once every gear when playing around otherwise the shifter is just too tight to shift. Also it gives you a higher speed as compared to revving to 7500rpm hence 2nd gear is easier to land in LIFT (6200rpm). I tried shifting at 7500rpm and playing with the clutch but it doesn't work, lands at 5500rpm max unless i am driving downhill. Zee
  22. Well things just got a little more interesting. While the car has been booked in for Monday next week, TCC were surprised because they indicated they doubted the dealer had the parts ! I am awaiting a call back from the dealer... RE: Oil According to my service report for 1000K service they put in the Castrol GTX2 full synthetic oil. GTX 2 is a mineral oil - not synthetic. Futron and GTX Magnatec is semi synthetic. Also, the TMC approved oil is GTX 2 What's the viscosity? 10W30? then it would be the same as the mineral based VVTi oil used by some delears. It comes in a green bottle.
  23. Sorry to hear that, engine troubles are the worse to bear and i have been through that with the rex. Took nearly 3 months to get the fixed under warranty and back on road but i also had the gearbox rebuilt. Maybe you can take this opportunity to get some of the car's other stuff sorted out. Just push the dealer to get it fixed ASAP otherwise they will be taking forever. I also have a 04' complianced Stivo and has covered 10,000kms in 6 months. How often is your maintenance? Are you the 2nd person to damage the 2ZZGE? Who was the first, maybe he had the same problem. Anyway that is why i never buy 2nd hand hi-performance cars especially high revving engines. Hope you get it sorted out soon mate. Ask the dealer what caused the problem. Zee
  24. It varies from dealer to dealer, my dealer only uses 10W30 Mineral based VVTi oil not VVTLi. They put that in my car at 1000km before i bought Castrol 5W30 Synthetic. I am not returning to that dealer anymore because i have sort of boiled over with their service.
  25. I realisd the AEM intake has more bends while the TRD one has a starighter passage. That is probably the difference.
