  1. It also does helps the motor be efficient. It's a tuned part of the induction system on weaker less flowing engines to improve bottom and top end. The resonator will get air redirected into the pocket while off or light throttle and as soon as you mash the peddle it will give it a better feel as there was air ready to be shot into the combustion chamber. Removing this may or may not give you more power depends on your diving style, temp etc. they spent countless hours desining such a little thing to get the right ammount of air flow etc for the resonator its not like they just placed it there to shut it up. ← I actually agree with you to a certain extent. I think the piping being tinier right before the airbox also serves a purpose, it accelerates the air going through and the snorkel too. Like they positioned the snorkel there to pick up air coming in through the space between the bonnet and headlight, and also helps acceleration of air through the piping. That's what i think it does anyway. I do know Honda cars have very well designed standard airboxes and even some racing Type-Rs and Civic Vti-Rs use the stock airbox.
  2. You had the gear shifting issue too before your clutch went?
  3. Yeh, those cars are Type-R category. Lightweight bodyshell, big engine and bugger the looks, quality and comfort. If i am after a FWD race car i might as well strip my Stivo down and make it one. At least imo it will be more reliable and has better quality than the Renault. One curious question has the Clio Sport got an LSD?
  4. Its only a $140grand A bargain Supercar considering they are bloody fast cars, i have a DVD of the M3 CSL (lightweight and a bit more hp) and it is up there with Ferrari Modenas and Porsche 911 turbos which are nearly 3 times more expensive. The Honda NSX-R is even better at over $200grand, light weight and bloody fast in corners just need more power. But the M3's handling is top notch, definitely a RWD benchmark and for people wanting a conservative Supercar, start saving up!
  5. TRD has 2 different types of filters for the Stivo like what Briony said. I have K&N and its the same filter for 1ZZ-FE engined ZZE122 Corollas. TOMS would be good i guess but realistically the panel filters won't give much gains. The CAI is good because of the piping reaching down for cool air. I think the Stivo setup also has a "water bottle" since its got the same airbox. I thought they are for draining water that might accidentally enter? And when you remove the snorkel, is that the removal of the whole piping leaving just the airbox, or just the plastic bit at the wned of the intake pipe?
  6. They look like press bends to me mate, mandrel bends have straight pipes welded together no bending at all. The stainless pipes look great, when they are clean of course :P The muffler doesn't look like straight through from one pic which is probably better and quieter for an NA car.
  7. I also find 2nd to 3rd the hardest gear to shift quickly and i crunched 3rd twice big time when i was running hard on the track. From what i know the early Celicas had very close 2nd and 3rd gates and it caused people to mishift often when trying for 4th but got 2nd resulting in 11,000rpm showing on the tacho. Same with the Acura TypeS in US. But i think they left the gates untouched, its probably just the tighter cables as its new and i also felt that when i 1st got it changed. 1st to 2nd is still the worse problem by far and has got noting to do with the cables. Its more the clutch. Zee
  8. Nice, is the piping 2.5" from cat to resonator and 2 1/4" after, or is it 2.5" all way through? The press bends are nicely done. Does CES make a non-stainless system too? Would be good for the budget conscious. Zee
  9. Tha's a big slip Pecker you pasting it on your window :P Great time btw, landed in LIFT good? The SS is bloody quick, what has it got, AWD?
  10. So we all agree BLACK is the MOST POPULAR and LIKEABLE colour :D
  11. Oops too late for me now, i have 13,000kms!!
  12. When its installed we should organise a meetup and when its time we can head down to Wakefield Park and drag down the straight again! :D
  13. Doesn't matter if my door falls of, a BLACK car still looks cool big or small!! :P
  14. I should know confucias but what is Danthuyer and Ilivfor6 going on about :P Its a DRAW between Black and Silver!! Going to sudden death!?
  15. With NRMA rating 1 65%NCB, 23year old paying $1400 by the month. Live in Illawarra, Shellharbour region. Just cars quoted me $1265 up front, no monthly payments. Unlimited LEGAL mods and premium rises a little with mods. Zee
  16. I have that noise in mine too, when clutch pedal is pressed in it disappears. My noise is more of a tapping noise. Had that since 1000km service and i have now 12000kms. Put the question forward on my first service and they couldn't fault anything. I will get them to take a look again and see what they can do. Does the throw out bearing affect overall performance at all because Shao had his replaced and the gearshifter was still getting stuck. Gets rid of the annoying noise though. Zee
  17. Comeon guys everyone knows Black is the BEST colour, hands down! Just put up a poll on the forum and see for yourself :P And it looks the best at night obviously :P What was Toyota thinking when they made the Silver ones, every Silver stivo i hear has no serious issues with the car
  18. Thanks man, i will remember Greg and ask my dealer when he will be available. I live in the Wollongong area so i guess we have the same field technician. With relation to the transmission did you ask him about the shifter "sticking" problem or you are lucky enough not to have that issue? And whats the vibration in the gear cables, is that the gear cable rattles you are getting? But good to hear most of the issues are not major just minor quality lapse. In the meantime, Melbourne boys put your complaints forward please!!!!!! Zee
  19. Yeh Ken get the Clutch/Flywheel and show them LIFT!!!! :P
  20. Yeah I was being good and keeping the speed limit, the those bends can still be fun at 60 ;) :D :D :D But yeah, I scored a few bugs on the way, I'll do a headcount later... ← Very true i love those bends because they have no unexpected bumps, smooth as a racetrack! And it was definitely much easier to drive following behind your car! Just like where Dave brought us, was great fun behind him playing catchup :D
  21. We were at homebush until about 7 because we waited for Screaminrolla, sorry mate.... I really gotta get me one of those GPS thingys michael, that thing is coooool... B) Next time, hopefully, the good pics this time will bring more out!!!! But Screaminrolla took us down to Campbelltown and through a few great (narrow) back roads and we finished up in Picton. Zee and I enjoyed a nice easy run down Mt Kiera on the way home from there too... :D :D :D ← Great pics Dylan, the sunset sums it allup! Yep, was great driving especially Mt. Keira because it oh so smooth!! Haha and Dylan i kept behind your Stivo for a reason so you can pick up all the bugs :P But i still had to clean my car again :( Zee
  22. A Super Sleeper! An R31 with RD26DETT would even be better! How much did the GTR front cut cost if it was a front cut he got and how did he manage to make it AWD, GTR diff?
  23. Your GPS is sick, i am saving up for one!!
  24. Yeah, was great meeting some of the guys for the first time. Was a bit cooler than i though tonight which wqs good in a sense, reduced the amount of bugs and improved our Stivos performance :D The WRX was an STI 4door with exhaust mod. I saw rear wipers on it and only STIs have rear wipers. Screaminrolla's Stivo kept with him till 3rd, the STI might even be playing catch-up because he didn't want to go until i was right behind his bumper and Screaminrolla's Stivo started screaming, i was amazed a rolling start would be that close! So amazed i nearly rear-ended him when he braked all of a sudden The STIs have got good brakes... Zee
  25. Only 300km shy of the Prius! :D How i wish i have that car now, bloody fuel is so damn expensive..
