  1. Nice, the Gtst goes very well too and is RWD. Is it an R32,33 or 34? IMO it is better than the GT4. They have gearbox issues too and ain't all that quick. Get the Supra if you really want fast, other wise no other Toyota has a great enough engine. Maybe the 4A-GE or 4A-GZE but they are old tech now and only 1600cc. The 2ZZ-GE is still a great engine. I know what you mean with the problems, i thought of swapping the car with something else too but i got over it in the end and felt that if i cannot afford another new car i would rather keep this. Good luck! Zee
  2. i'll be there, too. cya later ← Didn't see you there Shaohaok? We ended with 6 Sivos and 1 Ascent turning up. Me, Screaminrolla, Blue_Sportivo_VVTLi and Yekim went cruising and left around 10pm. You should have called us, would love to see your mods! And Influx, you should drive the S2000 next time, leave the Stivo at home :P
  3. I reccomend keeping the Stivo then, at least you've got Warranty for a couple more years. You never know what you gonna get with 2nd hand turbo AWD. I had bad experiences myself. If you really want a swap and want a turbo, i would recommend RWD like Silvias as they have less problems compared to AWD.
  4. Screaminrolla, Blue_Sportivo_VVTLi and i myslef will be there. Keep a lookout for our Stivos! Zee
  5. I get between 550-600kms per tank on Optimax or Ultimate before empty fuel light comes on. Cannot really describe driving style because everyone is different. Got to take note too that the type of engine oil, air filter, altitude and climate, wheel and tyre size etc. all make a difference.
  6. Well i guess Toyota should pay for it if the 6 speed box cannot even handle 1 hard launch. That is just pathetic. This 6 speed is off the Celica, not the Echo!
  7. I would suggest that your friend go see toyota and complain. I have an auto 1zzfe and ive got it up to 220 before, then again overdrive has to be off and if you mess around with the gear ratios a little bit you can make it get past 180 easily ← Probably has the 180km/h speed cut the Japs have!!
  8. What happened to Hames car? Did he break a gear or something? Currently that is my greatest concern with the stupid clutch. I crunch gears every now and then sometimes when i shift slowly but sometimes when i shift HARD. That is clutch fully in so Toyota cannot say i abused it can they?? I experienced gearbox problems in other cars before and one gear cost me $1600 to fix :( !!! That is in a AWD car where a lot of load goes to the drivetrain due to the enormous grip. I am guessing FWD and RWD cars don't have that much issues as we can spin the wheels. But still crunching gears is not at all healthy Zee
  9. Just saw the new Integra TypeS (updated TypeR) with 154KW@7800rpm and 194NM@7000rpm. It is not as raw as the TypeR, and has gone more like the Prelude/Celica, upmarket. It has sunroof, full leather bucket seats, 6CD and MP3 player, 17inch wheels and looks really good. The engine has more power than the TypeR, double wishbone suspension lowered and revised, but still costs the same. I would seriously consider that. Zee
  10. 40kg is actually quite noticeable in a drag, you'll be surprised. But you lose the sunroof, HID, leather interior, foggies, heated seats and what else... But for $34500 cannot complain. Post a pic when you get a chance if you are allowed to :P Zee
  11. In my club, we have a new Honda Accord Euro Luxury (drooollllsss!!!) they're awesome. Pretty quick too! Just did a dyno with one the other night...and it puts out more power stock...than a stivo with CAI and another stock stivo. Very very smooth. Can't even feel i-vtec..until like 6,000rpm and cuts around 7-7.5k. Oh, and we ALSO have an S2000 in the club. Lady driver too :D . I haven't been in the car as yet...too busy driving the stivo on the cruises and events. But, i reckon it would be awesome!!!! :D :D ← Yea i felt a jump in power too in my dad's Acoord Euro at 6000rpm. Makes me wonder why they have the cutout at 7200rpm when there is still a lot of go left. The S2000 would be an awesome ride man, i want that 6speed box :D
  12. The only reason why we are getting the flywheel is for better acceleration that's all. Not for anything to do with te gear crunching. I pray everyday for the gears in the 6speed box to stay intact. When it does break it will be a long hard battle with Toyota.
  13. Well Xoom great job and you deserve a pat on your back. But for me personally, the only problem with my Stivo now is the "unprovoked - clutch fully in" gear crunching (5 times in 12,000kms) and the shifter locking at high revs. However the crunching only happens once in a while so it is very difficult to duplicate for the service personnel. Even the locking up of the shifter has been put down by a mechanic as "normal". I have blown my relationship with one dealership over the issue and sent numerous emails to TMCA as well. Will try my best and see i how i go. If i don't get results i will not get ******, it is something i commited to and will accept it. Also hoping the TRD clutch and TOMs flywheel will fix the problem when i do get them.
  14. I think its a problem with the material on our stock clutch unable to handle the high revs. We definitely need something stronger.
  15. Nice price you got there and suffice to say a car i love, so you trading in the Stivo? Would be a pity though. When you get it remember to bring it out for a spin with the Stivos :)
  16. I emailed Jenny and got a reply from her. She just said the concern has been forwarded and Toyota will be investigating the matter. I have sent a copy of my letter to Craig for him to try and push the issue. Hope something favourable turns out.
  17. The both of yous got it wrong :D The Accord Euro 2.4 i-VTEC 140KW @ 6800rpm, 223NM @ 4500rpm (Built in JAPAN) I have one in my garage remember! The 118KW 2.4 i-VTEC you saw is the lower-performance engine in the Honda CRV AWD and new Honda Odyssey here. The Accord Euro has the hi-performance version tuned in Japan. The new Honda Odyssey uses both 2.4litre variants of i-VTEC in Japan but Australia only gets the lower-performance engine. The Accord (Built in THAILAND) 3 litre V6 177KW power and 295NM torque (torque figure not sure) This Accord is larger and to appeal to the Yanks and certain parts of Australian market. Those people looking at Commodores and Falcons have another option.
  18. Hey mate, I got Strutbar for $179, Swaybar for $190, was quoted $220 before. Springs are $160 a pair. Remember to get the camber bolt and if you like the front and rear bump stops which costs me another $180 altogether. You can find more prices from the Whiteline website. Yellow Koni Shocks are over $1000 for a full set i think, might have to ask Dave (Screaminrola). You can get TRD Shocks for $800 but not sure if it would work with Whiteline springs. Zee
  19. Whiteline has the best BFYB handling systems. As you can see i am getting them myself but this comes down to personal preference. With suspension i trust Whiteline products because i have used them on other cars before and they WORK. I would suggest you get what i am getting and if you have enough cash get the shocks as well. I am leaving the shocks for later as it is still intact. I would like to see how the stock shocks hold up. It is a pity to chuck them out because they are 40 percent stiffer than normal Corolla shocks. I would leave the front swaybar standard because the stock bar is not tiny and it is difficult to replace. The stiffer and heavier rear bar will improve turn-in and reduce understeer and bodyroll. Do the rear first and see how you like it. Poly urethane bushes are good but do that with front swaybar if you are getting it, otherwise leave it. Screaminroll has a Whiteline setup with Whiteline front and rear TRD strutbars, Whiteline rear swaybar, spings and Koni shocks. See pics of his car handle at Wakefield in the Meets/Events section. My car is the Black one with huge roll! Zee
  20. Why hasn't anyone test driven the 6 speed Honda Accord Euro?? For $34,990RRP it is a great car and pretty quick too! 2.4litre i-VTEC puts out 140KW and 220NM. Much better than the Mazda6 and SP23's 2.3litre. Front and rear double wishbone suspension is also fantastic with very little roll. Quality, reliability, comfort and resale value are also excellent. My father has been driving one for 16 months now and has been trouble free. No rattles, squeaks or leaks and sound deadening is great. Runs like new (25,000kms) and has full genuine plush leather interior, a fantastic 8 speaker sound system, dual climate control airconditioning, 6 airbags, heated front leather seats, HID headlights, sunroof, and the best feature the remote controlled windows down feature. It is for days like right now soaking 32degree weather and you don't want to cook yourself in the car, click click the dor unlock button and windows wind down automatically before you enter:D It has big strong brakes, TCS (traction contol which can be turned off), cruise control and performance wise it is a great Honda tradition. 6 speed gearbox is in par with the TypeR and of course second to the king, S2000's super shifter! This would be my only other choice if i didn't buy the Stivo, and maybe this time i would pick White because its summer :P Feeling better Craig. Zee
  21. Just went to the Sydney International motor show yesterday and i can say there were many cars i would love to own and drive rather than the Sportivo. Not to menytion the beautiful chicks at the Toyota stand :P But come on, i bought a Sportivo and i can still say it is the best BFYB car on the market right now and even in the future. No car in the $30,000 bracket has an engine and 6 speed gearbox in the $40,000 sports car segment (except the Honda Accord Euro at $34,990). And what other car in the $30,000 segment has Toyota's reknown quality, reliabilty and resale value. It also has the practicality of a 5 door hatch. The only car i can see that comes close to matching the Corolla Sportivo in value is the Honda Accord Euro base model @ $34,990 RRP. Forget the Clio Sport and whatever else. The Honda Accord Euro is 5grand more than the Stivo but quality, refinement, comfort, equipment levels and safety are all up and above the $40,000 car segment. Reliability is unquestionablly Honda and it is packed with features. It has the best shifting short throw 6 speed gearbox other than the TypeR (now TypeS) and S2000. Not to mention it also has a fantastic engine 140KW @ 6800rpm and heaps of torque 220NM @ 4500rpm from the 2.4 i-VTEC, plus front and rear double wishbone suspension this thing has big potential and can really handle. I might sound biased but i do have an Accord Euro Luxury model in my garage and am allowed to drive it and it has very stiff chassis with little roll. Brakes are very very strong and the engine is one of the best in the i-VTEC range. Very useable around town and freeway like a V6 and when revved past 4500rpm the VTEC awakens and roars. I would have bought one for myself if i have another 5grand. Baseline is test drive the cars for yourself. My father and i loved the Accord Euro when we test drove it. I loved the Sportivo when i test drove it. So it all depends on individual and how uch money you have. I now yearn for the Integra TypeS (replacing TypeR) with 154KW @7800rpm and 192NM@7000rpm. Full leather bucket seats and new colours! Just saw it yesterday at the Motor Show. But will costs $42,990RRP :( And i am still dreaming about the S2000
  22. Could it be spark plugs? Or maybe engine oil?
  23. Very interesting... now lets submit it to Toyota as a fix and all claim our new lightweight flywheels and clutches ;) :) ;) :P ← Already did that and Toyota is now investigating <_<
  24. I don't know about 20W50 viscosity, the service manual recommends 5W30 or 10W30 But if they put it in they will take full responsibility.
  25. Damn, does that mean i will have to chuck out my K&N? Can we get Toyota to clean it? But first are we sure oiled filters are really that bad for our Stivos or even 1ZZFE Corollas? Maybe its related to something else? What if the filter hasn't been cleaned and re-oiled, does that mean its less likely to create problems since there won't be over-oiling problems?
