  1. Mine is one of the newer ones, built Dec 03' complianced Jan 04' and has a list of problems. Nothing safety related though.
  2. It's more the time for me when it comes to DIY. Anything that takes me more than half an hour i will rather pay someone to do it. Call me lazy or anything but isn't that why we have people called mechanics? :P I am thinking of getting TRD Springs now after seeing them on the Bruce's site. Are they the same as Eibach Springs? I remember someone mentioning something about it.
  3. Something i noticed was the guys in the US didn't mention anything about UNICHIP tuning on the dyno. With the Apexi Power FC and UNICHIP, we need to have them tuned on the dyno for accurate tuning. It is possible to tune them on the road but that road must be very long and empty! Also the guys in the US run on 92RON petrol, while most of us run 98RON hence we would get better results. One last thing about the UNICHIP is that from all the dyno graphs i see incl. Peekay's they seem to tune the 2ZZGE so that it produces max. power lower in the rev range. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing but from my view i think the increased torque output at lower revs compensates for that. Zee
  4. Anyone here fitted bump-stops whle lowering their cars? I was quoted $150 for them and recommended to fit them when lowering.
  5. Just saw it on SkyNews today, looked up the website and saw the wrecked WRX where 3 young blokes were in. Don't think it will NEVER happen to you or me. Be smart and responsible on the streets guys. Anyone here from Gold Coast know anything about this? It happened in May, i must have missed the news. Deepest sympathy to the families of the ones involved. Zee
  6. And that's what I think also. :D BTW, What clutch/flywheel setup you're going for? I was thinking about MWR Cro-Molly Forged Flywhell (4,5kg) and ACT XT Street Clutch. Around $850 in the US. TRD offers the lightweight flywheel (4.4kg, 27% lighter than stock) for 2ZZGE. Check with Bruce, i think it costs less than AUD$800. There are also TRD clutch covers and clutch plates (organic/metal-faced) for sale. But be aware that the car might climb hills slower than before if you fall out of LIFT due to the narrow power band and 1.8 engine capacity. Zee
  7. Plus it weighs 300kg lighter hence i wouldn't expect it to have much of a problem driving around in the city with 180NM torque and the torque hole would be less evident. I know of one guy here who has a 04' Exige 111R with the 2ZZGE. He owns a tuning workshop around here (Albion Park Rail) and previously drives a Porsche GT3!!! Not the latest model but still why the heck would someone sell a GT3!!! I must go to his workshop one day and maybe snap a few pics of the Exige. Will also try to land my bum in it :P
  8. I have sent the clip to Northy via attachment and hopefully everyone will soon get to see it. This guy in the clip drives an ACURA RSX (DC5 Integra Type-R in Oz). His mate was filming him drive through 1st to 4th gear and the you can see how quick and smooth the i-VTEC revs to 8000rpm. Chirped hard in 2nd gear and everything looks good until he mis-shifted from 3rd to 2nd and the rev needle went clockwise to about 5 o'clock. You all go figure what rev he was at but i am guessing around 10,000-11,000rpm. Moral of the clip: Don't try to down-shift at very high revs, in this case a mis-shift at 8000rpm and 140km/h. Zee
  9. And of course there is TEIN which is considerably more expensive.
  10. The thing with the UNICHIP is that you have the option to use it on your next car or you can sell it to someone else.
  11. I was quoted between $400-$440 for Kings but for some reason the suspension place here can't seem to get Kings for my car. Hence i looked at other brands and would like to try Whiteline. But will probably go with Lovells Super Sport, not the Super Low.
  12. Whiteline actually supplies springs to Lovells and Dobinsons. I can get Whiteline springs for $320 but has to get it fitted and alligned which would bump the price close to $500, hence i am inclined to go for the Lovells offer. Cheers, Zee
  13. I would not expect the airbox cap and new ECU to lift power by more than 5-10kw at the wheels. The SA guys did not even feel any difference after their cars got modded so i wouldn't expect too much.
  14. Man, seriously Peekay i think you should get HOT4s or some mag to take a photoshoot and write a coverage of your car just to let people know more about the Stivo. You car has enough mods to impress them for sure. Cheers, Zee
  15. I love GTP, will be glued to TV this weekend. Anyone know what time its showing on tele? QD180, have you taken on a stock Type-R yet? I think they would be a great run for your money. Zee
  16. if its not an accurate dyno then it dont look impressive lol Get a full refund!
  17. I have the clip but how do i host it? :P Would be great for everyone to have a look at it. I think i got it from a Honda Forum in the US or something.
  18. Thanks Peekay, i noticed the torque hole disappeared after installation of the UNICHIP. Also your car was dynoed in 4th gear right? 1 thing i would prefer was for the max. power to peak at higher revs. AFter the UNICHIP, the peak power was produced at 7300-7400rpm. Although some might say that is better for the engine. Great results nevertheless and no doubt the mods complement the 2ZZGE. Now maybe with closer ratio gears and a lightened flywheel...
  19. But i thought someone said the 2ZZGE can withstand 11,000rpm fo 48hours before blowing? I downloaded a clip of a Type-R shifting from 3rd to 4th but misshifted into 2nd and wham, way pass 10,000rpm!!! Would have put the K20A to retirement. Common problem with the Type-R and 99' Celicas. Anyway, hope my 2ZZGE can at least withstand the 8200rpm limiter bashing i give it.
  20. SP23 does have a better suspension design than the Stivo but engine technology wise i still feel the 2ZZGE is way more advanced. SP23 has 500cc more capacity so produces much more torque hence more driveable but look at the power:weight ratio and the Stivo is much better. Power:Weight ratio is crucial. Lotus Exige 111R does 0-100 in 5.2! I also looked at the SP23 before buying the Stivo but did not like the colourful interior, too contrasting for my liking. I liked the 17inch whels and flared guards but that was about it. I purchased my Stivo for a bit more than most other people here but i got over $1500 worth of freebies from Toyota and i am happy, plus Mazda wanted $33500 for a SP23. I am not going to pay that much for a Mazda. It was more a juggle between Honda and Toyota for me.
  21. Anyone baselined with a stock standard Celica? Would be really interesting for us to know how we fair against them guys.
  22. Welcome again, i've got a black one with grille and rear skirt (slightly melted but don't tell anyone) :P Other than that all standard. I've got yellow plates and i usually drive along Shellharbour road, Princess H'way heading up towards Shellharbour. See you around man and maybe Nikich you and i can arrange a cruise one day! Currently working at Wollongong Hospital btw. Zee
  23. Welcome man, i live in Shellharbour and Nickich lives in Wollongong. I think i saw your car the other day. Don't remeber specifics but will be watching out for you and i don't think i will be driving to Adelaide for a service Zee
  24. Thanks Shaohaok, great info but i couldn't understand much of it, sorry :P Regarding the limiter, i found that to be the only method that works for me landing in LIFT every gear. If i don't bounce on the limiter before shifting, the shifter is just too tight to shift and it causes me to crunch gears if i rush it.
