  1. That looks like what they would put on a NASA space craft :D :D
  2. I think the problem with ours is with the airbox and ECU tuning. They retuned the Stivo's ECU and we also have a crappier air intake setup compared to the Celica's. So that could be where the 10kw is. As with the gearbox, i suspect the Stivo uses a different clutch and flywheel to the Celica and of course our reknowned gear selector cables which didn't cause any problems on the Celica. Hopefully Toyota would recall all Stivos to get these problems fixed.
  3. I have cable ties on mine as well from day 1 and had no significant rattles UNTIL recently!! I have 5500kms and i can hear slight rattles from the gearbox when i am at high revs. I don't think the cable ties will last :(
  4. I reckon we should all give Toyota a lil bit of pressure to get them to do something ASAP if not a full refund :P
  5. Yeh mate they do that They also told me i am the only Stivo driver with gearbox shifting problems a month ago when i spoke to them.
  6. Soory guys for being off topic ;) But regarding the recall and problems, a CAI would definitely solve the problem and is on my list of mods but Toyota will also not hesitate to void warranty if anything goes wrong. Hopefully there will be a recall for the airbox to fix the problem if there really is a problem with it. But just by looking at the setup, it ain't very good ;) I have also recently dicovered that by revving the Stivo to the rev limiter, the shifter lightens up and i am able to shift quickly and freely. Just have to let the limiter bounce once then you should be able to shift quickly
  7. Serious??? Where did you hear that from? Our airbox is making us lose power? I will be damn pis$ed if my Stivo is such as i already have shifting problems I will be waiting for the letter before i give the Toyota blokes HELL!
  8. Check it out guys. The Updated Corolla is now on the Toyota Oz website. Not much pics though and it seems they only updated the front bumper and not the rear. There is also a statement saying the Sportivo will not be on sale until further notice. Cheers, Zee
  9. The new T-Sport seems to be greatly retuned with revised suspension and underbody, bumpers and interior but i bet if its going to come to Australia, its going to cost more. I like the car, i personally think it looks better and will probably perform better with higher quality. But i will not swap my Stivo for the new one. Got to love what i already have Has anyone confirmed with Toyota Oz about the new T-Sport coming to our shores?
  10. Haha, I give you credit for even spelling WAR right :P Anyway, i had this nightmare last night of Bushy and Johny driving a Honda Vtec equipped tank trying to run me over after i beat them with my Stivo ! I hate WARS!!!
  11. Thanks Xoom and xTiGeRx for the radio info, i think i will be needing it if i eventually make it to the meet since my Stivo is still stock :P Plus i haven't driven down to Sydeney CBD in a while ;) cheers, Zee
  12. I have always wanted to drag them, just couldn't find one around here! I will definitely say the Stivo has more grunt but also more weight to haul. Another important point to note though is that the B16A engines ran out of production before 2001 and have got a few years on them now so unless they are very new with less than 60,000kms or overhauled, i don't see a fair battle. Plus drivers count and i can say the Civic probably has a better shifter than ours. However, no matter which way you look at it, the Stivo will beat it even if we are unlucky enough to be neck and neck through to 2nd gear, once in 3rd the Stivo will pull away. I know the Vti-R is quick and it is quicker than the 206 GTI wih the best stock 0-100 time in 7.7s on a Gtech and 8.8s by MOTOR. So it can be close depending on variables. I guess the VTEC vs VVTL-I challenge is on! I refrain from using the word WAR since i am sick of that word now after hearing and seeing it so much
  13. Now that you guys said its on the 4th, maybe i can arrange to meet up How much was the radio qkslvr? Xoom & xTiGeRx: I don't mind Hondas joining in, just got to let them know that we are meeting up for a nice time and not to wage a Honda vs Toyota war, although it would be nice to have a little run against each other so long as there are no hard feelings and everyone comes back in one piece. Also a bit of common sense out there would do us a lot of good and have the boys in blue keep a distance. Sorry if i sounded like a mother :P
  14. Working this Friday night, next time! Post pictures guys and have fun
  15. magicmayhem, that's prove the Civic Vti-Rs are very quick little cars for a 1.6. Its hard to find Vti-Rs here in the Illawarra region to run against. Saw only a couple so far and most are non-modified. It was one of my must own cars a few years back after i had a drive in a Vti-R coupe, but thought it was slightly overpriced at $34-35K driveaway back then and went for a 2nd hand Scooby instead. Should have bought the Vti-R :( If you seriously look into it, the Civic Vti-R is worth every penny from double wishbone suspension all round to the drivetrain, quality and reliability. Plus it looks great when done up. It was the VtiR experience that actually makes me love the Stivo so much! They both give you a big kick in the guts at 6000rpm and a never say die engine !
  16. Yup, the new Liberty GT was one quick car, i guess modified turbo cars are just in a different ballpark. Hey Danthuyer or bpt-4w, did yas realise the Stivo was riding pretty high? I wonder if she lowered the car <_<
  17. I owned a Civic Cxi in 2000 and had extractors, exhaust and CAI and i still couldn't beat modified Gtis. I dragged a friends stock Gti with my stock Cxi and lost half a car length. My civic was able to do high 8 second 0-100km/h. But back to Vti-Rs, do remember the Cxi weighs only a tad over 1000kg. It has no power windows, no rear disc brakes etc. Whereas the Vti-R comes with everything plus sunroof and weighs more than a 100kg heavier. That is the advantage with Gtis, they are so light.
  18. I have some fading leather on the front passenger seat but no rippling. I guess with the Stivo everyone has their own problems , big or small. Anyway congrats on getting the car and welcome to the forum, must be one of the last few in the showrooms Zee
  19. Took on a P plater in a 6 cylinder falcon (previous model). He took off at the lights pulling 1 car ahead of me before i accelerated. I hit 8200rpm limiter (half car length), shift to 2nd and revs drop to 5800rpm (1 car length again), hit limiter in 2nd (Still 1 car length), shift to 3rd and reeled in half a car length before i stepped on the brakes. In my opinion, the Stivo can take on 6 cylinder cars anyday If not for me taking easy at the start and on my shifting (still due to sticky shift problems ;) ) i would have munched him. Zee
  20. Well guys, race 3 was televised today around 5pm on SBS and if you did not manage to catch it, it was great to see the Stivo in action She came in 5th overall behind SS Commodore, Subaru Liberty GT, Integra Type R and the V6 VW Beetle (Correct me if i'm wrong). Not a bad effort as the Stivo held its own all the way till the very end. Quite surprised to see the Stivo accelerate neck and neck down the straight with the Integra Type R. Not much difference at all. The Type R just managed to pull ahead at the very end of the straight (approx. 4th or 5th gear), and even gave our beloved Stivo representative a nudge from the back coming out one corner. The lady wasn't too impressed :P Just curious about where all the Celicas went during that race? There were 2 or 3 of them at the start but none close to the Type-R or Stivo. Zee
  21. Interested in the Sydney meet, and how much for the TRD Clutch and Clutch cover? Zee
  22. I think Shaohaok had explained very clearly what a dyno run is for. NOT to be used to compare hp figures between cars. It is a tool for tuning purposes if you decide to modify your car. Even as a tuning tool, the chassis dyno can still produce misleading figures. We have now seen some stivos produce 90kw atw and some producing 116kw, but far too many factors influence horsepower results. Similarly for acceleration times and lap times.
