  1. Civic Vti-R 1.6 Dohc VTEC (B16A/B16A2)- 118kw (Oz)-125kw (JDM) Integra Vti-R 1.8 Dohc VTEC (B18?) - 125kw (Oz)-135kw(JDM) The Civic Vti-R had been tested in numeroud magazines and the best time tested was 0-100km/h in 7.7 secs and 15.8 sec quarter mile. Worst time is still a 8.8secs by Motor. So by how much did you beat the Civic Vti-R and in which gear? I am sure if the B16A motor is in good enough condition, it should not have a problem taking on a Corolla. The 1ZZFE would have much more torque though being a 1.8. But the Civic would even be a close battle with a Celica or the Corolla Sportivo. The Civic Vti-R is a quick little car and was proven to be quicker than the 206 Gti and Proton Gti. Too bad they ran out of production :(
  2. Wow Xoom :o , did you hit limiter during the upshift because i would imagine with the accelerator to the floor you would :P
  3. If you would like to beat a Sportivo, you would probably need a lot of money for NA work. Bigger Cams, Port/Polish, Bore, Crank & Pistons to up the capacity. At least $5K for decent NA work. For $5K, custom turbo setup would be best Bang for Buck and can easily get twice the amount of power you've got with decompression pistons. But a mildly modded (eg. exhaust, headers, intake, chip etc.)standard Corolla engine would probably have more torque than Stivo but will still lose out top end due to the 2ZZGE's nature with peak power of 141kw @ 7800rpm, high revving. So the most you can expect is jumping in front at the start but once Stivo's it 3rd gear, that's it the power takes over. I recommend saving the money for another car or force induction. Even if it is a mild setup. My 2cents, Zee
  4. Sorry mate, just cannot see how it is possible to only lose 1200revs on an upshift with the stock Celica 6 speed gears and gear ratios. Even if it is possible, you would have to be absolutely riding the clutch to keep it at higher revs and i don't think i would want to do that to a car i want to keep. Like you said a video clip would have really helped because i cannot imagine what you have said. Sorry. And what do you mean when you said Chris "...barely lifted off the clutch at all"? As for what Pecker said with the accelerator stuck to the floor when shifting, i have seen it being done on video and the revs still dropped about 2000revs. 1200revs is just hard to believe. Like i said, its the gear ratios that determine the revs. My ?cents, Zee
  5. Welcome to the forum, have a look at some other discussions in the forum and you will find topics on "Rattles:. I still have little rattles here and there. Enjoy your car! The sound of "Lift" overshadows all rattles! Cheers, Zee
  6. Not bad Danthuyer, those mods prove to be worth the money i see :) When are you getting the UNICHIP? Would like to see how much more kws you can squeeze out of the 2ZZGE
  7. The skirt was bought painted and Toyota did not mod the exhaust for me when i collected the car. I noticed my rear skirt melting slightly from the hot exhaust fumes and brought the Stivo back to Toyota where they modded it for me. Pics of my Stivo are on Page 8 of the Gallery. Will be able to see the rear skirt :) Cheers, Zee
  8. I had mine fitted by Stewart Toyota in Sutherland and it costs $570 painted. Had it fitted on the car at the showroom and like Danthuyer had to go get the exhaust tip modded.
  9. I hope Toyota hasn't misquoted anything for the Stivo or i will be really ****** Or maybe Toyota Australia is introducing the new Stivo with the revised 2ZZGE that has a lower power and tourque output?
  10. Agree with you xoom, the Type-R is in a league of its own and the noise it makes is music to the driver's and on-lookers' ears :P But was just trying to make a point about cost and NVH. Higher costs doesn't = lower NVH and take the Type-R down the freeway for a couple of hours drive and most people will be bitching about the lack of noise/sound insulation. So the Type-R being $15K more expensive than the Stivo and $10K more than the Accord Euro doesn't mean a quiter more comfy ride. All up, the Stivo is a bang for the $30K i loaned and nothing will come close to such a complete package even if it has a dozen problems!
  11. Compare the Type R (noisy rattly tin-can) to the Accord Euro :P I bet the Type-R is noisier and has more rattles than the Stivo, and costs $10K more! But i personally don't mind rattles and noises so long as they are not a problem! The Stivo does have some problems !
  12. Congrats on your new hardware Exec! I would be really interested in the built date of your engine and whether you still have the "sticky shift" problem or hard shifting problem? Or maybe let me know after you have run in the drivetrain Cheers, Zee
  13. From what i know, i was quoted $1200 for fit and dynotune on another car about 2 years ago by Croydon Autosports in Sydney ;) . But i guess it should still be around that price so if you get quoted more than $1300 i wouldn't let the guy do it.
  14. Shaohaok, did you get a clean 1-2 shift landing 6000rpm and above? Zee
  15. I will be willing to part with my stock Stivo Grille (Black) if anyone is interested 4kms on the grille, brand spanking new! I live in Shellharbour by the way Zee
  16. I get a funny nose when i rev past 7500rpm, sort of like what you guys mentioned but also wonder if it is pinging noise?? It happens most when i rev the engine for the first time of the day especially when the engine's just warmed up. It seems to be on and off and i know the Type-R engines also make a funny sound on very high revs. If any of you played GT3/GT4 on PS2 before, you will notice the Integra Type R making the same sound when you rev it past 8000rpm. Not sure if the Celica makes that noise ;)
  17. You would be doing pretty well if you can keep up with a B16A equipped Civic or CRX or the B18 Integra Vti-R with 125kw. The B16A has 118kw and the Civic Vti-Rs can do low 16s quarter-mile and 8s 0-100km/h easily. But that is for a good condition B16A. Most Civic Vti-Rs now would have clocked more than 60,000kms and can be a bit weak. But your Rolla would definitely have more torque. The 7.4s 0-60mph you said for the Matrix, was that for a 2ZZGE equipped Matrix? If so, the supercharger is not worth the money. If it's for the standard Matrix, then its a fine enhancement. And since you drag to 120km/h plus, the difference will be even greater. Power to weight ratio is a major factor in acceleration times, especially in gear acceleration. The lighter the better for acceleration. But a car's handling can be affected by a reduction in weight. You need to get the car's suspension balanced to work well with the extensive weight loss, but with your rolla, it should still be fine. I had a mate who used to drive a 800+kg Suzuki Swift Gti and he took parts of the car off to reduce even more weight and he crashed the car driving at 70km/h negotiating a mild bend on the highway. He had 4 occupants and had new tyres. It was drizzling though but he admitted it was the car's handling balance that caused that crash. So be careful not to drop too much flab off your rolla
  18. Great to hear your car is trouble free.. mine has gearbox problems, very difficult to shift when in lift, very tight especially 1st and 2nd gear. You mentioned reverse gear and that got me wondering if that is the problem.. Only has 3500kms on the car. Regarding the close ratio gears, you can get even closer gearing for the 6 speed allowing you to accelerate faster in each gear. The current gear ratios doesn't keep the engine in the power zone during upshifts which is around 6500rpm. It drops to 6000rpm and below sometimes and that is not the sweet spot. But yeah, the suspension probably needs to be fixed first for track use. Also it would be wise of you to invest in some racing brake fluid, brake pads and oil cooler. Track racing puts much more strain on the car so be aware. Keep up the hunt down for the Type-Rs :D
  19. Yes, yes!! Add revised gearbox to the list <_<
  20. Hey T-Sport, i guess you sure did have a lot of fun chasing down Type-Rs! Invest in a set of close ratio gears and that will allow the Stivo to keep itself in the power band. Fairly expensive but they work very well especially if you are bring the Stivo to the track to kick some butt :P Alternatively get an aftermarket computer to tune for more low end torque. By the way, how many kms have you got on your car? Any problems with yours, like shifting problems or clutch or brake problems?
  21. Hehe, Tivo Matt good try with the ABS though but no shudder through the brake pedal so i doubt that is whats causing it ;) . SInce Pecker has had that problem too, i would say its the brakes. Probably needs some adjustment or balancing. Will get it looked at on my 5000km service. Thanks guys!
  22. Hmmm the brake thing may well be the ABS? Not sure... i'm not too mechanicly with it. I think that did happen once to me today but that was more to do with me being late on the clutch when coming to a set of traffic lights. Personally i find the steering a lot better than what some of the articles i have read suggest. No mate, not the ABS because i wasn't hard on the brakes at all. Just braking normally coming up to a red light but can feel the slight shudder (slight steering wheel movement, moving left and right quickly!) in the steering. Not sure if this is the steering problem Toyota recalled the Stivos for. Feels like something to do with the brakes.. Will find out soon.
  23. Man, this woman is something! Look at her fastest lap times in the Sportivo, they are fast and even quicker than most Type Rs, Celicas and the S2000. Don't know what they did to the Sportivo to make it that quick.. would really love to have those mods :P
  24. Welcome Tivo Matt , this car trully rocks! I bought mine in Feb 04 and has only 3500kms. Enjoy your car and let me know if you have any of the problems or "characteristics" we stated on this forum ;) . Especially the gearbox because that is my main problem now. Do you find it hard to shift fast at high revs? You probably shouldn't try it at the moment since its new but when you're ready try it and let me know if its hard to shift near 8000rpm I had the problem from Day 1 :( Zee
