  1. thanks for the comment! I had it installed for me. I'm going to change speakers and amp and dynamat im next fortnight... currently waiting for my hid to be installed! can't wait!! =P
  2. very good point there... will have to test that out. thanks for the heads up! :)
  3. Ok so this may be a crazy/stupid idea... but i was wondering.... ... has anyone had a gps unit installed in that gap where the ashtray sits? i was thinking about having that ashtray removed and also the facia just above it (the single din where climate controls are located on higher spec models) and having a new facia made up to accomodate a gps/nav unit? am i crazy in thinking of this? will be hinder the gps unit if i need to update maps etc? any thoughts or ideas would be great.. not too keen on mounting a gps on the windscreen... i have attached a image with the area in questions highlighted in yellow.. thanks!
  4. hey everyone does anyone here have any experience with autoglym glass polish? is it worth using? since its a polish, am i correct in assuming its a light abrasive as well? and if so, are there any chances of damage to my exterior glass? same question goes for the meguiars plastx, will using this product on my headlights causde them to haze over once the product wears off?? thanks for your input! :)
  5. Have had the headunit installed for a while now.. its awsome! will be fitting HID's next week and then will complete the speaker upgrades along with dynamat in the doors and rear shelf. have attached a few pictures... :)
  6. anyone here run into any problems mixing brands? ie i want to use mothers sealer and glaze and follow that with meguiars nxt tech wax... any input would be great cheers
  7. hey all newbie to the forums here was leaving carousel on thursday night and was driving behind a white aurion sportivo with red neon underbody lights... anyone here? i was in the white aurion atx
  8. hey mate, how did you end up mounting the ballasts?any chance of some pictures of the mounting? and what are your thoughts on the kit? thanks :)
  9. hey all, prolly wont stick out on the rodas but im driving a white aurion atx stock on the outside (hid kit coming soon) but have started building its audio/entertainment system inside! look fwd to meeting some of you in the future? B)
  10. hey mate how much are you looking for either the sportivo grill or your thai grill? Im in WA too thanks! :)
  11. Brand wise, they are all basically the same. Don't fall for HID retrofit kits that are branded Bosch, Philips, Osram, simply because they are most likely just going to rip you off. If you wanted to buy a kit locally, chances are they are going to charge you at least $150, for a fancy looking kit that you can get off eBay for half the price. You're best buying online. thanks for your quick reply mate :) my main issue is installing.. im a pushbicycle mechanic but when it comes to auto and electric work.. are these kits hard to install or am i better off paying someone else to install them for me?
  12. Hey all, couple of questions - am wanting to convert my headlights to HID's. What are the popular brands to go for? are they available locally? (Perth WA) Any input in greatly appretiated :)
  13. Hey all My Aurion has the factory paint protection (defense pak??) but i still think the shine could be better from a wax... has anyone here waxed over their factory paint protection? does it ruin the finish? or would you recommend i stick with the paint protection? im not fussed about losing the "lifetime" warrenty if it means i get a better finish on the paint. does anyone here acctually have experience with toyota's "lifetime" guarentee on paint protection? or is it all a load of Bull***? also is it worth using a claybar over a relatively brand new (3 weeks) car?? any input would be greatly appretiated cheers Dave :)
  14. nah, im afraid their gonna be lost in the process... if i was going with the alpine unit (502) then i would still be able to use them, but went for the clarion (budget restraints :( )
  15. Its going to be soundstream speakers, 6.5inch splits up front and 6x9's out on the shelf, then at the same time, will be adding dyamat to the door pannel and rear shelf/boot wall. That will complete phase two, then phase three will just be the addition of a amplifier and a bit'ol bass in the boot ;)
  16. Hey everyone, just got the ball rolling on phase one of my sound system, the headunit. Will have a clarion max386vd headunit installed once the facia kit arrives. anyone have any experience with this headunit? will post pictures as it progresses :)
  17. Thanks for all the detailed replies guys! its amazing the amount of effort goes into some of your posts! spoke to the guys at toyota and they said they havea special tool to adjust the lights, but perhaps they are already correct then? just fitted some Phillips power2night h11 globes and am pretty impressed with the increased light output... if only i could get them more "white" without going to HID's :P Thanks again!!
  18. hey all, just noticed tonight that my headlights in my AT-X are not completely lever with eachother... the passenger side headlight seems to illuminate higher than the driver side... is there a way to align the projectors?
  19. another AT-X owner here, i also have the bolt threads showing.. so it's all good :D
  20. has anyone here had experience in the AURION with these speakers? TS-A6962E http://www.pioneer.com.au/Products/Car%20E...S%20A6962E.aspx how do they go for fitment?
  21. Absolutely. You just use a line out converter (also called a high to low converter). Depending on how good your ears are, you can get cheap units through to expensive units. All Aurion's are identical in terms of interior dimensions. All grades use the exact same speakers, so those dimensions are valid for your AT-X. thats great news! thanks so much for all the help!! B) will keep you all posted on the progress... right now it looks like ill be getting new speakers front and rear, possibly the eclipse? been hearing (excuse the pun!) good things about focal speakers too... upt o this point ive only ever had expereince with pioneer stuff...
  22. 1. Without an amp and a cap, the quality differences will be hard to notice.. You will hear a difference between a stock set and a middle range aftermarket set, but you're best off going with an amp if you want a high quality experience. In the stickied thread there are links to a couple of speaker reviews that might be worthwhile checking out. 2. Deadening would help to reduce road noise and whatnot, but i wouldnt bother with the added cost especially if it's powered by the headunit. Unless you're really serious about your sound or you have the money i personally would not bother. 3. You may as well take advantage of the stock mounts, gives you less hassle and a cleaner install. Its already there, and i dont think many people have much to complain about the placement of tweeters so you may as well use them. 4. Cant give you much help for that question as i'm not from around there, sorry! Hope i helped, bottom line is an amp is really the backbone to the sound system, there's no point buying a high end speaker and having it powered by a factory radio.. Otherwise you could just buy a mid range set of speakers and you wont be able to tell the difference on the factory radio. Hope that helped thanks for your quick reply! ^_^ yeah i was thinking about an AMP as well... so is it possible to connect an amp to the stock headunit? http://www.alberts.com.au/alberts/speakers...e111111/sc6900/ those are the speakers i am interested in.... the people in the thread (http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10410) are refering to the ZR6... are the speaker dimensions the same in the ATX? thanks again!
  23. hey guys, so im looking at upgrading the audio system in my stock ATX... basically a couple of questions i have: 1. what speakers, from your experience work best while powered by the stock headunit? 2. if im running the stock headunit and upgrade speakers, is it worth sound deadening the panels? 3. if the speakers i upgrade to have seperate tweeters, is it better to have them mounted in the stock location or elsewhere? and last... 4. any recommendations for a good audio installer in perth? i have previously had work done at A&T in west perth, but not sure if their still kicking around... thanks for putting up with my silly questions!
  24. thanks for the warm welcomes ;) ive got the white yeah i do plan on making a few changes, nothing drastic, as i like to keep it farily simple looking.. on the hot list are: - wheels - lowering springs (thou not sure what the go is here, read a few ppl saying their lowered aurions are running into problems) - sports grill will be picking up some PIAA globes to replace the stock ones as well... and then sound system. any advice would be greatly appretiated! :P
