  1. It wont be insurance that needs to cover it but the shop that did the work. Def go back there and make them fix it, sand n stuff in the clearcoat is definitely not acceptable!
  2. As above, you can, but you need to buy the new gears, plus parts and labour costs will be pretty huge. I see a few options: Put up with it and loose a little bit of money on economy Sell up to a Sportivo, get that extra gear and more powaaaaa for what, like 6k cost, which you wont really make back in economy but maybe in fun. Sell up to a brand new small car (new rolla even), new cars are so freaking economical now Sell down to a 1JZ Supra and enjoy getting maybe 350km to a tank (70l, maybe 5l left). Pocket a few k and burn it in fuel.

    1jz vs 2jz

Technically the 2JZ engine is only 1 year newer than a 1JZ (1JZ was 1990, 2JZ was 1991), and both were sold all the way though until the mid 2000s Still newer, nyah! Theres more reasons as to why they cost more, but thats the easiest one to mention.

2JZ is better in every way, but they cost more, because they're newer. If I was stuck with a 1JZ I wouldn't be complaining tho (and I am heh).
  5. Try these guys: http://www.amayama.co.jp/ They ship stuff direct from Japan to your door. Easy to get stuff takes at most 10 days, harder to get older stuff, which they are actually good at getting, takes a bit longer. Prices are good. Your just going to have to be a bit patient trying to get that older stuff...
  6. ... you dont really want me to comment on the Supra's fuel consumption and cost do you :P, bought 70L of 98RON recently? What I did today: Pined for the Supra Hopefully have it back on or just after Wednesday...
  7. Lube wont last forever, ultimately your going to need to get those bushings replaced. Pop down to a suspension shop and have a chat. I need to do most of mine as well...
  8. Personally I did mine once every 6 months, using a K&N Recharger filter care kit, comes with instructions, you can find em at Supercheap etc. Did it more often if I thought it was necessary (dirt roads n stuff). Yes, you will need to remove your bumper, yes its a pain in the ****.
  9. Prob with the Power FC is it needs to be purchased for a specific car, eg. a ZZT Celica one wont fit a ZZE Corolla Sportivo one, even tho they have the same engine. Not that it will never work, find a car with the same engine and you can usually make a harness like SuperDave does. EManage on the other hand... usually you can put them in anything, just needs to be wired up, prob is with modern Toyotas they have learning ECUs which can actually work around piggybacks, so its long term effectiveness would be in doubt, or constant retunes would be required. Better off with something like a Wolf or Adaptronic, full, non-car specific standalone, they cost a fortune but. The only 'chips' I would ever buy are found in foil packs and are to be eaten.
  10. Got the car back in at WTF for even more stuff to be fixed :P. Damn old cars! But finally... finally it'll be tuned!
  11. Haha, remember, no polish or wax on the new paint! Don't want to ruin that new finish...
  12. Unless you get one used thats just how much they cost... they aren't cheap.
  13. I don't think it would of had the grill beforehand. Those kits usually come like that from the factory, as it was a factory option. Without the kit the 'gaping hole' is actually smaller, here's a pic of my old one for reference: http://www.teccwa.com/Gallery/TECCWA-Photoshoot-13/03/2010/By-Rudi/TECCWA-Photoshoot-13/03/2010-14.html Never had a problem with stuff getting into the radiator, its a bit tougher then you think.
  14. I think it looks just right... Surely you must have seen other Celicas around and noticed they don't have the rare grill? I've never seen a grill on the TRD kit before either, only on the stock bumper.
  15. http://www.nengun.com/c-one/carbon-fibre-bonnet As thestig said (lol I'm wearing a Stig tshirt right now...) Nengun is a good place to find almost anything, but it is a bit expencive. You'll see that the bonnet is over $1000US without shipping. But hey, if you really want it... Make your car look like a 7th gen Celica hatchback
  16. Well, after a bit of fuss I have the Supra back. As some of you may know there was a lil issue when I left WTF Auto (broke down...) but its all been sorted, very very quickly as well, WTF after sales service is certainly the best I've ever had (for anything), just a shame about the circumstances. I wont go into detail but no real damage was done. So, to the latest round of repairs and mods: Even more seals Even more hoses/pipes Timing belt (old one was covered in oil... ew) Intercooler piping redone in stainless (hells yeah, no more leaks, no more PVC!) Front sway bar mounts replaced - it was loose enough you could move it ~10mm with your hands apparently. Made a significant difference. Dump pipe modified - new flange that isn't a POS leaking rusty heap of crap, pipe modified to give better flow to the wastegate (was just hitting a wall before). You can see whats been added in the pic. Exhaust also raised in the process... yay less scrapage! BOV removed - it was broken. GFB heap of crap! Might replace it... might not. So hopefully its now fully leak free. If there's anything else, it must be freaking obscure or just ridiculous, cause a silly amount of stuff has been replaced now. Before, boost came on at about 2800 and slowly gained... now its almost fully on at like 3200! Bleed valve on the wastegate had to be turned down a huge amount, the dump and pvc intercooler piping must of been leaking like a bitch! I'd get a boost cut defeater thingy... but being a CT26 it maxes out at like 13psi anyways (running 10 atm, need to tweak it). Unfortunately due to extra stuff being found that was leaking, there wasn't time / I couldn't afford a tune. So thats still to be done... Exhaust next. Got some ideas for that. Pics!: Good shot of the welding, and gives you a small idea of the route: Dump modifications (it may not be shiny and new, but its functional) :
  17. Got my car back, 15 mins after I leave on the way home it breaks down. RAC cant fix on site, so towed to RAC myaree. So no Supra, but dads lending me the MIGHTY SX4, so I'll still come along in that. Mega thanks to LEGEND for the ride home! Lucky you drove past.
  18. Hopefully I'll get my car back on Friday, new intercooler piping, dump and a tune :D amongst other things.
  19. Forcast for Saturday is Sunny. Its going to rain the two days before a bit.
  20. I was thinking the same thing, but I checked how far it actually is, its not that far at all, about 100kms from freo to Toodyay, so you might change your mind as we're going. That huge cruise Andy organized was way longer then that.
  21. Pretty sure you wont be going anywhere with 7rwhp, thats like a 50cc scooter. Sure its not 70?
  22. I will keep my distance, if you make your tyres completely bald by the end of the cruise =P Haha, one prob, I have an open diff haha, single pegger woo! I couldn't do a burnout to save my life Edit: I have a couple of walkie talkies, they kinda suck but I'll bring em.
  23. Yeah me too, and whats better, the Supra is going into WTF on Monday so its ready for the cruise! You guys better keep your distance till I'm used to the extra power ill get from the new dump, I/C and tune
  24. Got the car into WTF Auto, woohoo! Time to get rid off all the stupid **** thats been put on my motor!
