  1. To all you ZRE boys: Don't waste your time with power upgrades, upgrade your brakes first. They are junk.

      Rental cars= THRASHING.

  2. Oh well Daryl, there are plenty of people in those schools yet to graduate. Waiting increases desire anyway so your reward is far greater.
  3. It'd probably be compatible. But you're having a bath if you think you can get more hp for $50.
  4. My haggling was. Guy on boost wanted $500 but I got it for $400! Still need to buy about $1000 worth of bits and pieces to get the fuel system up to speed: - 1jz-ge injectors (or similar) - 3vz-fe fuel rails + fuel hose + various connectors - SARD/Bosch fuel regulator - Fuel filter - Pulley + belt + supercharger oil (will ask dave if he's keen to change the oil + seal while we are there) - Walbro 192/255 pump Then have to pay Dave to install the gear and then pay for tuning and a Dyno. Mamma mia!
  5. If you are removing it, then there would be no need to have a cap on the amount of torque you need to apply. The main reason you shouldn't in my opinion is because a torque wrench is calibrated for the varying torque levels and you should reduce any un-necessary use that can affect it's calibration. Makes sense. That's good then! I don't have to spend $200 on a bi-directional torque wrench then. $110 or so for a Kinchrome one.
  6. Well it's no secret that I haven't been happy with the power result of my Gen5 @ 4psi (beaten by other similar vehicles with less mods...) so I have begun my quest into the 6psi zone. I picked up this one the other day: Which will be nice for tuning when the time comes around. Fuel rails from a 3vz-fe have been 'ordered' at my local wrecker which will make the conversion to a return fuel system a little easier.
  7. Just read this. That is complete rubbish; your standards are way higher. I don't blow in my sideview mirrors, take my wheels off nor open the bonnet for better water access or cleaning!
  8. Firstly... do NOT use a torque wrench to loosen anything. Secondly... most torque wrenches have a handle that is longer than a standard socket drive. It is this extra length that gives you extra leverage and therefore extra force. It doesn't help you any more than a socket drive/spanner of equal length. Second: Makes sense, leverage is king. For some reason I thought they had a multiplier or something that increased the power you apply First: Why is this the case? I've noticed 'bi-directional' torque wrenches, which I assumed are for removing nuts while having a 'cap' on the maximum amount of Nm you can apply.
  9. Torque wrench question: regardless of whether you get a bi directional one or not; does a torque wrench help you tighten/loosen a nut (multiply your applied force) or does it just prevent overtightening of nuts?
  10. Thanks for your reply, the dealer says the total time required is 13 hours of labour. Although the car is out of warrenty, this is a major service and there are no known (to me) mechanics who specilise in Toyota Camry. The next best thing is NRMA Service, I am still hesitating to take it to them too. Most non Toyota people will not have special tools required so they use some stop-gap methods I am told. I visit Sydney often so thinking of getting serviced in Sydney if I cannot persuade the local dealer. K8Canb Toyota dealers are not Camry specialists either. Most mechanics will do whatever you want to do with them, just tell them what you want done on top of your regular service.
  11. I'm happy to help when I can but I will not be unable to meetup this Thursday as I will be out of state
  12. 6psi project underway. GReddy e-Manage Ultimate? Done.

  13. There are no dedicated engine mount bushings for the Gen4 but there is a possiblity that they make a generic bushing that might fit. Talking about SuperPro bushes here as well.
  14. Typical Dad. Suffers a heart attack, goes under surgery and one of the first things he says is how much he'll miss his meat pies. Always a joker :/

He's hooked up to a machine to ease pressure on his heart as the doctors suspect there has been some damage. Worst thing is he's in Melbourne and I can't visit atm as I have been running their business.

      It's a little unnerving.

Oh gosh, really sorry to hear that Andrew - I hope he's okay. Hopefully because he's well enough to be telling terrible jokes means he'll be quickly on the mend :)

  15. Big fan of Thursday night meets. Minimum 12+ hour days for the last 7-8 days and I feel damn good. Huzzah for Brisbane meets.
  16. May or may not make an appearance tonight. Will check the thread regularly though to see if we train or loop it.
  17. thinks that goldfish and silverfish sound a lot more similar than they really are

  18. I would like to do a meet like that, but as of right now, I can only travel as far as 1 suburb over... and that's not easy to start with. Ooh bugger. This week cancelled it is!
  19. How about we meet in a non-affected suburb for coffee and cake like the Melbourne crew do?
  20. Attaching heatsinks to heatsinks will provide some additional cooling ability, but the effectiveness is reduced a fair bit in comparison to having a efficient heatsink in the first place. I would personally be working towards improving it's ventilation. The only downside of having amps under a seat. Given I have 12v + GND sources very nearby, I could probably wire up some low speed case fans without too much trouble (or the fans + additional heatsinks). Hrmmm... more money to spend.
  21. Would attaching heatsinks to a car amplifier (which runs somewhat warm) be worthwhile provided I can get the heatsinks cheap?
  22. Looking good Steve. You can come do mine next if you are bored.
