rev limiter? or something much worse?
Kenshin X replied to Kenshin X's topic in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club
You're not confusing with SRI (short ram intake)? On the zze corolla the CAI places the filter behind the passanger side fog light, there is a bit of a pocket there away from the heat of the engine bay. ahh cool cool, maybe i was confused, cuz i rememebered i saw some shorter and it was the SRI... -
really nice work man! maybe u should have sprayed it black? it might have given u extra 5 kw LOL jk <_<

rev limiter? or something much worse?
Kenshin X replied to Kenshin X's topic in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club
correct me if i'm wrong, but i kinda thought that where the custom one is better becuz its sucking more air inside becuz of the poisition of the opening. the proper CAIs look like they are getting the heat from the engine + the outside air which can't be colder than pure outside air... -
polariser for the LCD screen (sportivo)
Kenshin X replied to Kenshin X's topic in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club
hey guys, yday i bought a cheap calcultor for $2 and i dismantled the lcd took the polariser off with a small kitchen knife and experimented with that From my findings... the polariser on the calculator is 45 degree polarised. the polariser on the sunnies were vertical, (tested when sunlight reflecting off the doggy bowl full of water) (as u said DJKOR) when i put the calc polariser across the lcd in the car at a 45 degree angle, its darker when i put the sunny's horizontal to the lcd in the car, its darker conclusion: the TOP layer of the polariser on the screen is filtered horizontally, (like DJKOR said :D) now its just cutting the sheets i have on a 45 degree angle (how annoying) to fit the LCD screen but didn't toyota think about people wearing polarised sunnys make it harder for them to read the screen? check this out LOL http://displayblog.wordpress.com/2006/08/0...ved=0CCgQ9QEwBw -
Help removing glue substance

LOL -
100,000 kms is pretty high ks, anything above is regarded as high ks... but if ur gonna just daily drive it then i guess its ok, hitting lift sometimes is good too. These engine were made for high rpms. 1zz also is for that matter too... but i know ur not gonna drive slow now... r u? :P if i decide to keep my tivo, i might rebuild (if needed) at 200,000 kms and give it a different colour lol... maybe green hmmm =)

wtfzors, u guys are insane LOL... put it on youtube if u get lift in reverse ROFL :D

Help removing glue substance
Kenshin X replied to King Young's topic in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club
yup, i vote on the eucalyptus oil, just do little circles with 100% cotton cloth, i used it to remove residual glue from the trimming i removed from my car. also cheapest and easy to get, just go woolworths :P -

polariser for the LCD screen (sportivo)
Kenshin X replied to Kenshin X's topic in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club
Ahh I give up. Took off the first layer of plastic thinking it was the filter but it was just extra covering to protect it! I tried to take the second filter off but it's not coming off :( maybe give up and settle with what I got... -
polariser for the LCD screen (sportivo)
Kenshin X replied to Kenshin X's topic in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club
nah i always knew that i had to replace the original filter with a new one. i just tried it with my glasses over the top (w/o taking the filter out) to see how it works and to see how the filter (the one attached to the lcd) is orientated... what i did thought that all lcd screens used the same polariser but as u said its the angle thats different. but then u said it depends on the type of polariser used so im kinda stuck here until i try the ones im getting from taiwan -

sorry did u mean by flipping it so the back that was on the stuck on the lcd is now on the outside? or did u flip it 90 degrees? i did try to but i didnt completely remove it becuz i was scared te dust will settle on the screen... plus i thought there wasn't any glue on it... it easily came off by slowly peeling it with tweesers -

Update. Ok this is really getting to me. I even wondered if it's even possible to reverse the lights on this thing... I took the electronics out to eliminate the plastic covering on the center console. But this time when I held my polarised glasses horizontal, the colour (blue) is filtered out! I was thinking it should completely black out like my laptop screen! Any ideas guys, cheers! -
rev limiter? or something much worse?
Kenshin X replied to Kenshin X's topic in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club
Oh yeah... I've got a custom made one. It's just a plastic tubing that extends around the inside of the chasis and ends just on top of the front lip haha. I wondered if it really made a difference or getting the proper one is better? -

thanks prozak, although that one seemed to sound alot meaner than my car :P -
I would say that most people here are enthusiasts, buti wouldn't say that they are ALL biased towards thier car... I for one prefer a honda over a toyota because of thier Type Rs but the prices are a little high... *sob* but i couldn't pass the corolla sportivo becuz of the features and the engine reliablity... had all the important things i thought was the basis for my needs. I think what u need to do it research more on the actual car (any car for that matter) before making a purchase... give it like 2 or 3 weeks and if the cars gone, big whoop, just wait for another one. don't rush... I was looking at another black sportivo in my area and he was selling it for 15,000 but in the end, i found out that it had alot of wear and tear on it (its done 100,000km). it was gonna take an extra 2000 to fix... the current i got fully checked by my uncle, and he said it was all good... this one i got for 15,500... oh, remember to check the car with RTA too just in case there are any shifties :D hope this helps happy lifting :)

rev limiter? or something much worse?

BTW guys, i thought if i hit the rev limit, the needle move anymore higher... in my case it makes that sound but the needle still climbs abit. is this the way toyota programmed it? -
rev limiter? or something much worse?
Kenshin X replied to Kenshin X's topic in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club
Suprathai - yeah its fully stock... the owner before did the muffler tip only. I very much DISLIKE the sports exhaust as i feel its too noisey for my liking and for a couple of KW, its not worth my money. <_< Or MAYBE the camera was bad lol... encounta - did you have the stock ECU as well? BTW i just resetted my ECU (according to the TOC forums) and took it for a spin, there was a bit of improvement on gunning the engine. Also i dunno if it was my imagination, but the rev limit is a bit higher? NFI seriously... <_< who cares, i'll just keep driving it hard, hopefully the ECU is smart enough to know that I don't wanna gun it everytime and be easy on the fuel when i need it to be (ie looooong highway driving :P) -
rev limiter? or something much worse?
Kenshin X replied to Kenshin X's topic in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club
you cant set the rev limit any higher without an aftermarket ecu (e.g powerfc)... alot of people cant stay in lift between shifts, thats pretty normal... but daddy! i don't want ot be normal...LOL, how much would i looking for a good ECU? would it be a increase in power thru out or just like increasing the rev limit? cheers -
rev limiter? or something much worse?
Kenshin X replied to Kenshin X's topic in Corolla / Corolla Sportivo Club
wow that was fast reply lol... but the needle still creeps up to 8... how do u set it higher? thrashing it high after resetting the ECU? when should u actually reset the ECU anyways? or changing the ECU? can't stay in lift like this between shifts *cries* :( -
hey guys just wondering, when in lift i have this wierd thing coming from the engine at around 7,700 RPM... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2VZNgN9XH8 rev limiter maybe, this is the best video i could film with my brother in the car lol, he seems to ALWAYS angle the camera away from the "8" when it nearly hits it. but i think the sound is very clear. is this normal for a sportivo, should i reset the ECU, and thrash it after it reboots? engine doesn't knock or ping or any other strange noises... the noise is similar to rev limit but the needle stick does still creep a little more. Engine looses power as well when this happens... somebody said clutch slip? but i tried the diagnostics for the clutch but it all seemed fine... very confused, hope its not something serious, but a the same time i feel i'm not getting the most out of my 2zzge :( running everything stock btw... thanks
