  1. That sounds more correct, did you have to hassle them a bit to get that price? or did it willingly say "yep you will only have to pay an extra 120 per year"?
  2. I pay 1200 per year for full comprehensive car insurance at the moment with ING direct. Im in the process of picking up some new wheels and suspension for my 07 camry. So i decided i should get a new quote on the internet, it came back as 3600 per year with them mods. paying that much extra for insurance every year i cant afford, its like buying a new set of rims every year! That being said, i did a quote as if i was a new member to their car insurance service, so the price may be a little less since ive never had an accident as of yet (touchwood) with ING direct. background info, the car is under my fathers name (never had an accident in his life) and im the 18 year old secondary driver. i was wondering, cause i know a lot of you fellas have changed your rims and suspension, does paying an extra $2k+ each year sound right? how much do you pay after doing this mod? and is there ways i can reduce this $3600 price? thanks in advance everyone, all your advice thus far has been very useful. private
  3. Has anyone used these HOD bulbs before and can report on the quality? thinking of getting these as an alternative to HID
  4. tinz; what inch drop is that front and back? btw, how did dropping it and adding new wheels to your ride affect your insurance? I did a quick quote on my insurance website and without wheels and suspension im paying $1200 per year. but with wheels and suspension it bumped up to $3600+. (thats if i started from scratch again but i was talking to my mate and he said cause im already with them it would be cheaper. but the question is...how much? haha)
  5. fixed the problem today fellas, turns out the machine used to machine the rotors was faulty and wasnt cutting as perfect as it should be. so went to a brake specialist to do the job again and this time they got it right. job done free of charge. no more sound evident nor slight shaking of the steering wheel. thanks all who tried to help, much apprecaited Prv8no
  6. yep i did, did everything my mechanic told me too. ill find the problem out tomorrow, so ill let everyone knows how that goes
  7. saw 3 rollas in total today. 2 parked next to each other at tottenham station (i know at least one of them are on the forums as it looks very familiar. i think from the last meets) and another black rolla speeding up that road thats parallel to ginifer station. i was crossing the road with 2 old ladies next to me and you over took a parked taxi and flawed it, must of had a catback exhaust or something. the 2 ladies next to me "oh god we are going to get run over, call the police maybe its stolen" refering the black rolla speeding in my direction.
  8. Pretty sure theyre not and yeah im going to take it back this Saturday. ill let you know how it goes just in case anyone else has the same problems I thought break dust was the cause too (as there was a previous noise similar to the noise that brake dust would make), but when i gave the car a wash under the high pressure rinse that squeeling was still their but the previous "brake dust" noise was not thanks for your replies prozak, much appreciated
  9. To be honest im not sure what brand of pads im running, cant remember as my mechanic picked them out for me (i trust his oppinion, his never screwed me over) but im pretty sure its not the pads. its not like a consistant squeel, like i said its on and off. when we machined them, it took ages as only 1/5 of the rotor would get machined (like a slice out of a pizza) so we had to keep doing it until it was all done. process took nearly 2 hours for only 2 rotors. as for the shims, im not really sure if i have them on. can anyone clarify? anyway, thanks for your reply prozak!
  10. As the title suggests, i have a sort of break squeel/noise. Its hard for me to describe but ill give it a shot; when i lightly touch the brakes, it makes a sort of squeel that is on and off (on and off possibly becasue of the wheel turning and maybe there is a point somewhere on the wheel that makes this noise. for example for one rotation of the wheel, i will hear the noise 2 times). That being said, if i press on the brakes a bit more harder, this on and off squeeling noise is not evident. This is only coming from the left front wheel on my 07 camry I recently got new brake pads in and the rotors machined. Its been about 3 weeks since then and i figured the pads were still wearing in, but that squeeling noise is still there. Ive searched up the forum already and havnt found an answer to this question of mine. When my mechanic (who also is a life long friend of mine) did the machining, he said it took way long than usual which is weird for a rotor that is undergoing its first machining Any suggestions about why this is occuring would be great so i can go to my mate with the issue. thanks in advance, prv8no
  11. nice pictures of the day! glad to hear that it went through, looked like you guys had a rockin one!
  12. Is anyone here with ING direct? Im thinking (well 100% going to..) lower my ride, i know it will effect my insurance rate but before i call up i just want to get a general idea about how much it will go up by. thanks prv8no
  13. Thanks for your reply DA, i got a budget of 3k, but that includes tyres aswell. reasonable? and im planning to the baby lowered but somehow try to maintain stock comfort (or better. any suggestions?) so plus another 500-1k ontop of that. been saving for a while. but no im not planning to track my car at all. im all about looks at the moment (not practical for me to get a very powerful car just yet) as for the style i want, its something along the lines of this; those exact ones have a stud pattern of 5x112, so as far as i know it wont fit on my camry. thanks for your reply fellas, appreciate it a lot. cheers, prv8no
  14. thanks for your reply VF-X. i know that rims is a matter of taste, i already got a sorta style that im on the prowl for. and dont worry, once i get 19's im going to lower it within a week i get my 19's. what kind of set up do you have on your ride VF-X if you dont mind me asking? i want to try minimise rubbing as much as possible, any suggestions? how important is PCD ? does it have to be exact?
  15. Sorry for bringing up an old thread, but i ddint exactly wanna start a new thread to ask such a simple question. anyway, im finishing uni now so im going to tackle my mod list real soon. the first on the agenda is new rims. im a noob with everything and ive been warned that i could get screwed over. i want 19s on my 07 camry altise and i was wondering what tips you guys could give me whilst purchasing them? eg what typa of wheels are best, what questions should i ask and the answers im looking for, what type of tire should i get (daily driver plus they have to withstand the weight of my car as i heard sometiems they screw you over that way) and maybe suspension and shocks advise (though i know its really up to me) thanks in advance prv8no
  16. D35, yeah im still under warranty (havnt voided it just yet). i was thinking of saying it was in my pocket and suddenly it stopped working. maybe that will work? DJKOR; Yeah i opened up the remote lastnight and it seems that the battery is lose. there is like two latches (so to say) that hold the battery in place and one of them is a bit out. Other than that, the circuit board seems fine but god knows what is broken that cant be seen by the naked eye. My good mate said to go to one of them watch/battery/engraving joints you see in the middle of a shopping centre to see what they can do, but that being said..would you take advice from someone who has just consumed a whole bottle of vodka? i think not. haha. My other mate how ever, told me not to take out the battery as it would reset the device.."just like taking the battery out of your car" so i was a bit hesitant to do so until i was 100% that i had a spare keys/remote at home.
  17. Im sure if you dropped a call to car rental places around your area, you can ask if they have that specific model in that colour. if you give them a reason why your so specific, im sure they would be glad to help you out.
  18. So i was out tonight hitting the dance floor and my keys fell out of my pocket, next thing i realise is that i stepped on them. the actual key is fine but the actual remote with the "lock" and "unlock" buttoms is not. the car wont open via keyless entry anymore and i was wondering whats the best way to fix this? when i shake the remote, theres a rattling sound inside, so i opened it up and the battery seems lose. (yes i know the main problem on why the keyless entry doesnt open anymore) Ive done an extensive search on this forum (so i like to think) and found nothing thats about recommendations on where i can get it fixed. i realise toyota can do this, but that might cost me $100+. ive got a spare remote which im going to use for now, but it would be nice if i could get this one fixed. has anyone had any problems with their remote like this or any problems at all? and if so, where did they go to get it fixed ? thanks in advance, prv8no (<== number plate fail haha)
  19. wow, that front windshield of the camry didnt even break.
  20. They are universal in the sense that the colour is pretty much the same everywhere else when referring to it by colour code. For example, my Wildfire Mica is '3R3'. Whenever you request for it, you will always get the same colour (maybe with a minor variation), however the name may be different. In the USA, '3R3' is still the same red, but is called 'Barcelona Red'. thanks for that DJ, you cleared that up real nicely as i was thinking of ordering a lip spoiler from the states but our diamond white (CC = 061) is named "super white" (CC = 061) over their so i was thinking if there were any difference in the too.
  21. whats the average price for a decent HID kit? been exploring firesports lately and see some going for 120 but if you got yours for 305, makes me think...why is this one so cheap? haha
  22. tinz; yeah we can do it. its on the inner side of the rear of the headlight and thanks for that J e r e M y, clears a lot up. just need to order everything now. anyone got any recommendations?
  23. -DAvo, have you done that mod yet? would love to see the finished product spillige; great advice mate.
