  1. gday all, Ive taken pics and will post them soon.. 4got iphone charger and thus cant transfer the images to my laptop until i go home. Quick update, took the 3 flat tyres off the car this morning and papa in law drove me n the tyres to his local tyre center.. they checked em for leaks and despite looking like crap when I first took them off the car, the rubber on each tyre was pretty good, plenty of tread left!?! the 2 front tyres required new innertubes, about an a good hours work considering the two guys working on my tyres were also working on 2 other cars at the same time!?? all up to repair the tyres was 700 Pesos, or about $16. Then we picked up my papa in laws mechanic mates who gave the car a check up.. looked over the spark plugs, oil, radiator, put my tyres back on the car, checked the brakes on each corner and repaired the rear drivers side brakes because it was'nt functioning.. their time cost 300 pesos.. just under $7 :) Still got to get the spare tyre into working condition.. may need a new rim all together.. Seriously if you saw the car youd be like WTF but the car works, its an old jeepney with toyota components and its lasted this long, probebly not the safest thing on the road but itll do!
  2. well the car belongs to my parents and they live in australia. Im staying in a holiday house they recently bought, as well as a car which has been handed round the family a few times. the engine and soft top were fixed by dad when he was last here and nobodys been in the house or the car since my dad left here.. Ill post up pics soon.. its a stainless steel hunk of crap with a toyota crown steering wheel!!?? the car is rediculous! lol! not sure what make the engine is but youll see when i post up the pix/video of it. Im in the philippines, mindanao specifically, about 3 hours from cagayan de oro where they had those killer landslides not long ago.. (there goes my shopping destination, who wants to go shopping with the smell of dead bodies in the air?!)..unless you are a bus or a truck, most other traffic only drives 30km/h top speed?!
  3. HEY GUYS, long time no post!?! happy new yearz guys, anyways im overseas right now and the only car Im free to use has been sitting solitary in a driveway for anything upto 6 months.. engine and soft top were given a 2nd life (about 6 months ago) but 3 of the 4 corners the car is standing on are now completely flat and the 1 corner not flat is about 35% inflated. sorry no pics but I am wondering in general terms how resilient are tyres if theyve just been left to stand and slowly deflate over time? I know we are going to try to inflate them tomorrow but what are the chances the tyres are going to be past the point of inflating and need to be replaced? THANKS IN ADVANCED FOR INFRMATIVE REPLIES!
  4. I've got my 1zz Seca conquest exhaust. It came off my old 2003 Seca conquest and I upgraded it to a Sportivo aftermarket exhaust in 2007. I sold the car and only have the OEM stock to sell. It's currently on sale @ gumtree. Sydney area pickup only, advertised $130 but obviously discount it if you are a TOCAU member! serious offers considered.. PM me if you want more info. http://sydney.gumtree.com.au/c-ViewAd?AdId=324093225&MessageId=MSG.VIEW_AD.AD_ALREADY_ACTIVEMXAdIdMZ324093225
  5. Another type of crazy- spider decided to spin it's web across the front of my driveway!
  6. Hey man, Im loving the subwoofer box you made! Looks a lot cleaner than what I came up with when I built one for my 1zz a few years back. How long was the duration of your course in panel beating? Although Im happy with my chosen career Id be very interested in learning to panel beat (properly)
  7. Im 99% sure that was the very first DIY paint mod on my old Corolla. Bought them from Ignition-X near Broadway back in '05. Glad they're looking good on your Sportivo!
  8. I spotted your old car behind me passing through Heathcote heading Sutherland way. no pics sorry. Also spotted Charlie in his ZRE yesterday arvo. Looking good man!...cars not looking to bad either ;) *ba dum dum tish* Hey man.. nice to see its still around. Obviously if you are driving I dont want you risk having a car accident by taking a pic while driving! If you happen to see it parked somewhere then that would be ideal :P
  9. When I owned my Corolla, if I wasnt careful, the front would scrape. This was with a c/f front lip and 17's, no lowered suspenion. This was thanks to the tree which is lifting up the cement of my driveway, which the council STILL to this day hasn't done anything about. Ive basically got a speedhump on my driveway.
  10. Is that in Homebush somewhere? More importantly are those my old eyelids????? LOL
  11. THanks Arc... not sure if you noticed but there are no actual flares on the 4.1. Im thinking you are talking about the grey plastic panels that are on the car. Funny thing about this plastidip.. seems to be the latest craze up in these forums. I might experiment with it later on after the panels are straight. Right now its my last evening of my holidays, so its back to work for me tomorrow. The flares to be honest are just wishful thinking at this moment.. the aim is to get this car the the point where there isn't anything to actually repair. At this point in time I still need to fix/repair *Dents - ive been DIY panel beating the biggest dents in the car.. hopefully itll be less for the professionals to do when they get it and so far its making the car look a bit more normal.. *Paint - ive cut n polished out visable scratches where the previous owner rubbed up against something/s *Fuel gauge - been annoying me since I bought the car... still tossing up whether to go to the mechanic or the auto electrician. *cracked windscreen x2.. thats a <$200 job.. important but the dents are very small.. still, I shouldnt leave that for too long. This car surely looks like a wreck, but if you saw my last car you would surely see I take care of my stuff! Ive been driving since '98 and never been in a major accident, never been caught speeding, illegally parking or drink driving. Although I love DIY, it annoys the hell outta me that my car looks like I dont know how to drive! On another note, I came into some trouble this morning just after church, I needed petrol and stupid me, yesterday when I was panel beating the dent with the hole in it, I disconnected the cable that pulled the fuel tank door open. So I was stuck at the 7 eleven with no petrol, and no gas! Had to fork out 16 bucks for a bloody multitool with pliers, knives, saw and screwdrivers in order to take out the interior panel that was in the way. It didnt take any longer than 5 - 10 minutes.. but the bolt for the bottom of the seatbelt was the only thing stopping me from taking out the whole panel. I needed a wrench to get that thing out, and the stupid multitool wasnt going to help with the bolt. The plan was to put the cable back onto the fuel locking mechanism, but instead I had to widen the gap between the plastic to get inside that crevice and poke the fuel tank locking mechanism with the tip of my multitool. Long story short, I opened the fuel tank, filled up, fixed the actual problem when I finally got home. After screwing in that panel, I decided to take off the panels on the direct opposite side to deal with the dents there! The right dent in that pic was big, larger than my hand with fingers spread out wide and the dent doesnt want to pop out!? Its above/around the rear drivers side wheel arch which is another hard to reach spot. 98% of the scratches in that corner dent are gone thanks to the cut n polish, but these two big dents are a big pain in the *****. Im pretty much done panel beating for the year. I can handle my car being dented as long as it doesnt look like it was in a massive accident. At least now its much less like a wreck now. I have other things planned and hopefully next weekend Ill come up with another update. Hopefully next Saturday Im going to tackle something that been bugging me about the interior. I dont want to jinx it in case I cant get the part but it'll be something I don't think anyone has tried to do on a 4.1 online just yet. EDIT - JUST noticed on this pic, which I took just after buying the car, that there is a crack on the tail light.. although its only a few cms, I might need to go back to the wreckers to see if theres a spare tail light.
  12. This is what the inside of the panel looked like see how much room there was for my arms to get in?!
  13. found a retailer (in JAPAN) that still sells 4 door fender flares for the 4.1! JAPANESE FLARES calculated @ $312 Australian before shipping... HMMM.. should I just buy these or make them?
  14. This is a great idea.. however I wish it was around when I was much more active on the forums a couple years back.
  15. Well guess what? saw it today at Chullora, looks the same but front spoiler could do with some paint, looked tired My heart just sunk. Must tell the wife.. shell be devastated! If anyone else sees the car PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post pics!!!
  16. Just wondering how often are these points handed out or monitored by the powers that be?
  17. Brother came by and helped out with the panel beating.. Here's the beat we can do before filling it with body filler.
  18. Found this while trolling the interwebz... How to make your own flares! If youre a DIY guy like myself then this may be a project you may want to try yourself!
  19. This is so funking frustrating. I most of the time I struggle to hold both dolly and hammer so I closed much of that dent by banging the dolly against the back of the dent.
  20. Braved the rain to take this shot. No end to the rain in sight
  21. Today I was in the middle of panel beating the gaping hole just near/ above the petrol tank. I've managed to close most of it when it started raining. Since I'm doing it DIY and with no 2nd pair of hands to hold the dolly inside, I'm having to stretch with my body pretty much hugging the car, with my left hand gripping a hammer on the outside, while my chest is up against the back door arch, and my other hand squeezed into the crevice behind the panel holding the dolly behind the dent! Since it's above a wheel arch there isnt much wiggle room for my arm and the metal edges of the inner car panels are cutting into my arm.. Hard to explain, but this panel beating is hard work, and I'm trying to bend back the metal as much as possible to make sure I use as less body filler as possible. Will have to wait until the rain stops before I can even put back the interior panel, subwoofers, and seatbelt that I had to unbolt to get access to the inside of the dent!
  22. Ummm.. Where's the pic of your custom sub box??? The car looks great but I'd like to see your box!
  23. On the solid bits of plastic, the dullness just went away, while bits of plastic which had scratches on them immediately showed signs of melting. I think it wouldn't hurt to go at it again with a second heat treatment to make it look more even and less patchy.
  24. I seriously been wanting to do something about the plastic. Not sure how long this spray tanning will last but it's definitely something more than nothing!
