  1. ok this has been confusing me for ages... people talking rims on these forums referring to real/fake/copy wheels such as starcorp selling rims that happen to be copies of lensos for example... just so i understand what im looking at while im window shopping, which brands make copies of other brand rims? which ones are genuine? just to get things started ill list down a few brand names ive come across in my search through the net. LENSO KONIG OZZY RACING STARCORP EST KSPEED ASIA RAYS feel free to add to this list if i missed out on some... also, ive gathered that it may be unsafe to purchase rims that have multiple stud sizes on them. is there any truth to this or should i really stay away from rims that are made to suit a wider range of cars by having different size stud configurations on it? example of what im talking bout: notice theres 8 stud holes in this? im sure ill only need 4 im assuming it may be structurally weaker.. but im obviously unsure since i am asking these questions.. so yea.. which brands to trust? which ones to steer away from?
  2. can anyone confirm this? just curious coz ive dc'd my battery several times and ive never had issues with the power windows.
  3. did you end up doing this? add 2 more tweeters? yea?
  4. my wife and i have somewhat agreed on the type of car - small station wagon. did toyota release a small corolla station wagon back in the 90s?
  5. r u in sydney? check the locksmiths in the yellow pages that can come to you.. (the 1s that do business from the back of their vans) they can save you money if you compare their price to toyotas price.
  6. i got these installed.. ( the chrome 1s)... its listed as part of my cars insurance. i think they put the "off road conditions" coz they cant guarentee that you wont get in trouble by cops for installing it. the only problem installing these is if your stock bulbs wont fit the new tail lights. in that case youll need to solder the new wires inline with the stock 1s, so you can still connect the stock tail lights later on if you needed. thats what happened on mine, so i got em installed by an autoelectrician for a good price coz the guy installed heaps of em and they dont take long for him to install . i didnt wanna take chances with installing incorrectly so i chose not to diy... because theyre tail lights! if it were something more ricey (fancy, but no practical function) like the silver door sill lights then it wont worry me if i messed up on installing them myself. tail lights have a practical function and other people depend on them to see whether im breaking or reversing, so unless you are sure you are able to do it properly, get it installed by an autoelectrician.
  7. are you gonna use the same type of distribution boards that you use when you install more than 1 amp in the car? or do they come smaller? i guess you dont wanna tap into any wires.. thats where your scared of voiding warranty?
  8. heard throughout the day on the radio and in the news that snipers could have shot em down they were bailed out and they might still be up for a possible 6 months in jail...so they exactly didnt get off scott free. helluva stunt.. but will not be suprised if they put them in jail just to prove a point, especially coz they made the cops look bad. all the money spent on security would be a joke if someone wasnt sentenced for something.
  9. negative. shes has to learn bout how to deal with traffic, roundabouts, parking etc before she bothers with a clutch and manual gears! thats crazy talk! baby steps mish! im not gonna throw her into the deep end like that! shes pregnant lets not forget!?! as if im gonna let her stress out like that... further more it would be illegal to just let her drive while i sit at home!!? SHES ON HER L'S. lol! only 3 hours previous driving experience on auto is good enough to drive manual? dont think so. maybe for some, but definately not for my wife.
  10. geez d_ice.. reading your post and viewing your diagram makes me wanna solder something
  11. Is your old car in good nick? u in sydney? got more details on your old car? how much you want to sell? (jsut curious)
  12. youve got the current model corolla yea? the RCA converters cost $15 bucks from autobarn.. im sure you can put a tray.. not sure if theres one available for your model yet
  13. yea if its from a priv8 seller make sure it was a "lady driver" lol man.. damn now where am i gonna get this $$$ from...
  14. you know wat mish i WANT my wife to be able to drive the bugger but its a manual. she wants to drive auto. i dont mind the 89 model but geez... id make sure the engine and trans was definately in good nick. i got screwed on my first car. every 6-8 weeks something would kcuf up... all coz we believed the BS the salesman was giving us. bought a ('85?) laser kc model for $5000.. 2 weeks later my classmate bought a tx3 for the same price... and his didnt break down all the time like mine!?! :/ hate salesmen! once they start telling stories i just wanna turn my back and say no thankyou..
  15. gday littleblacks... toyota dealerships that stock TRD would be a start. i think i remember seeing one at penrith toyota parts b4? havent been there since mid last year. there has to be a toyota stocking trd parts in melbourne. thats where toyotas main offices is isnt it? (correct me if im wrong) but i remember being driven past a HUGE building with toyota badging on the side... (didnt look anything like a dealership from the highway). or maybe a melbourne tocau member has one on their car? try to go to one of the melbourne meets.. maybe you can feel 1 there
  16. gday guys, would really appreciate your collective advice. in the next few months, my wife and i plan on looking for her first car. shes still on her L's ATM and i want to get her something reliable she can practice on, then go for her P's in. definately wouldnt want her to be driving a lemon like my first car was... but at the sametime, we definately arent the richest people in the world right now. just wondering where in sydney can you TRUST a 2nd hand car dealer on purchasing a car that wont break down within a few months? (reliable after sales service a major plus) we're possibly looking to spend $5000 max. which probebly means im looking at a car made as early 1990 (id rather not buy a car that old, but i guess thats as old a car as im willing to let my wife drive) at least 4 doors, automatic. sedan/hatch is ideal... if you were looking into buying something like this, which models would you trust? what 10 year old cars have proven themselves as reliable? which 1s to avoid? considering factors such as possible cost of parts/repairs, running costs, fuel economy.
  17. id just call em up n get a straight answer. from what sb was saying it looks like theyll do what you want... though they probebly wont have one ready in stock. whether they need your car there in order to make it is another issue... i would assume they would have kept the recipe 4 cooking up the parts you need so they wont need your car, and its not that different from the 2zz part which they also make... but im only assuming things.. just call em! on their homepage it does say: "PHONE AND MAIL ORDERS WELCOME!" ph: (07) 3200 2333 fax: (07) 3200 2344
  18. welcome to tocau! loving the shaved boot! always wondered what it would look like with the boot smoothed over! also where did you get it done? more importantly - HOW DO YOU OPEN UP YOUR BOOT NOW? LOL! in what way did you modify the standard front and rear bar?
  19. so what youre saying is your arm isnt long enough to grab your knob? (sorry that last comment was asking for it lol)
  20. ok STOP. Hammer time! :P welcome to TOCAU:) PM d_ice if he doesnt intro himself into this thread... he should have some knowledge on this stuff. what colour is the neons? what colour is your new corolla?
  21. wow.. judging others with nothing else to contribute on your first post! welcome to tocau!
  22. Jase I think you bought the "Sportivo" factory accessory that looks like the Levin exhaust with the little droopy tip. That's just the last piece (axleback) off the end of the normal 2" system. If you grab the actual exhaust system off a Corolla Sportivo it will be 2.25" and optimum size for 1ZZ, might not be as throaty as the "Sportivo" accessory but should make more power (wouldn't really notice I think). If you think of the exhaust as 4 pieces it's easier to understand. You've got the headers/extractors/exhaust manifold which you probably know about, then the down-pipe bit that comes down out of the engine bay to the bottom of the car, then the catalytic converter and the "cat-back" part, then the last piece from the axle-back which is pretty much the muffler and a foot of pipe. All modern cars have a catalytic converter as it contains chemicals that react with the harmful gasses coming out of your engine and turn them into less harmful gasses (carbon dioxide?). so in theory a sportivo exhaust headers, downpipe, cat back would be a straight swap and fit my axleback?
