  1. thought so. yea i was planning on doing just that - especially coz i still need space in the boot, but id like the best sound possible out of this sub. just cos it says max of .75 cu ft, dont mean im going 2 build it that big
  2. guess i never noticed it from my car.. or any car really? 2 b honest i havent even noticed a CAI sucking.
  3. hehe good 1 :P theres a few of us up in this forum isnt there?! do you by any chance shop round rooty hill, eggbert?
  4. when i got my tints yesterday, the guy doing the tint noticed the sucking noise as i switched off the engine. never really noticed this on the stock filter. i later checked the the box and its still properly closed, so it doesnt look as if anything is wrong. just curious - is this noise normal for an after market panel filter? i havent yet modified anything to the resonator or the stock tubing.
  5. thought as much :P please PM me when youre about 2 post pics! :P thankx jase
  6. ive seen some people in the forum convert their storage space just above the ash tray into a 1din space for their HU. ive asked some ppl in here via PM but recieved no response. is there any1 out there that knows how do do this and is able 2 give instructions on DIY?? id search 4 this in the forum but no idea what phrase to put in the search.
  7. UPDATE US JULEZ?! WHATS HAPPENED WITH THE MIRRORS?
  8. jjcru23r = jack of all tradez, master of none :P what you mean smack bang in the middle? you mean sub placement in the middle of the box, right? OR are you referring to the range of area the box requires? '...based on the required dimensions of '..." .33 - .75 cu.ft." (sealed box) '?
  9. this is my badly drawn artists impression of the sub box... thought i may need a visual aid on this 1. yea azza youre right bout the cabling... i encountered similar problems with my old car n the sub box&amp... thats another design problem im goign 2 have 2 address b4 i even mix the fibreglass catylist with resin. :P
  10. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-K-N-Oil-Breathe...1QQcmdZViewItem found this online and thought it was a really good buy.. that was until i remembered this post in this thread and thought... goodbye. :/
  11. yea azza it makes a lot of sense, but im not gonna pay 300 for a custom install when i can fibreglass it myself :P i just gotta make sure its the right size! with the custom moulded box that silvabullit has, it doesnt let your seat recline all the way back. i plan on avoiding that problem by moulding the fibreglass with the seat reclined. this may result in the box being wider, which means less boot space, but since his amp is a 12" and mine is an 8... i think itll even out since mine is a helluva lot smaller and requires much less room. is there any other factor i missed out here? anything else i should consider? oh yea i plan on placing the amp ON the sub box, probebly above the sub. is this generally a bad move? after all, the sub is only 8inch square. and should have plenty of room. i also did that on my 1st sub box which had 2x 10" weconic subs in my old landcruiser, didnt have a problem. but is this not a good thing 2 do?
  12. yea i was particularly curious as 2 why we'd need a capacitor since i assumed the amp would already do that job (reduce power drain on the rest of hte car). but yea it makes sense now the way you put it. KOOOL. will look 4 one in Jaycar sometime soon, coz i know my cousin said they had 1 for cheap. thankx azza! oh yea u think jaycar amps are worth the money? or does that count as a sh!tty brand? i woulda thought that as kinda in between ****ty but dependable brand coz i saw an article in autosalon a while ago bout 1 of their amps that was big on power & low on price compared 2 its name brand equivilentz? ok kool... so im guessing the monoblocks are just smaller yea? since they arent powering 2 or 4 amps just the 1? coz the cheaper 2/4 channel amps are huge
  13. i searched the forums but i didnt see this topic anywhere. if im wrong please point me the right direction coz i may have missed it - ANYWAY, yea since i have a Kicker subwoofer coming my way is it absolutely necessary to get a kicker monoblock amp to power it? and does it have to be a MONOblock? wouldnt the cheaper 2 or 4 channel amps do the same job? and whats a capacitor do besides be really expensive and look kool in the back of your car??
  14. that program is hektic! too damn technical i dont know what the hell kinda information they want me 2 fill in! definately not for newbiez in the subwooofermaking business :/ anyhoo i think your info helped me out a lot more than that program, too tired 2 figure it out 2nite... maybe tomorrow. im planning 2 make this outta fibreglass btw. i learnt how 2 measure litres in highschool, 4gotten it since then. plus this sub is gonna be moulded into the right side of the boot so yea snug fit, and not a regular box shape. seen quite a few tutorials on DIY fibreglass box's but they ddindt mention measuring the cubic feet 4 optimal bass. like most other things in life i want to get this thing done right the first time so i dont wanna take chances on makin it 2 damn small
  15. thats the idea i had in my head, i just never heard of the term "remote mounting" hehe koool!
  16. yes as topic description asked... but more specifically, the sub im expecting to recieve next week requires dimensions of " .33 - .75 cu.ft." (sealed box). does that mean a minimum of .33 cu. feet and maximum of .75 cu. feet ..? just checking am i correct on this assumption? and since its .75cubic feet max. area inside the box, if i was to make the box any larger than what was recommended, will the sound turn out dreadful or is this a case of the more space the better? also.. whats the best/easiest way to measure cubic feet?! maths specialist please i need your help!
  17. What exactly do you mean by the term "remote mounting"?
  18. what i just meant was to get a decent pic from one of the meets 2 put on these cards. just by seeing the large number of rollas sitting side by side in the 1 place is a pretty beautiful thing 2 witness!
  19. i was toying with the idea of fitting the computer into the glovebox. u think there would be problems with if i stuck it n there?
  20. yea im well aware of the indash pc that goes with the lilliput screen... heres the link : http://www.brashimports.com.au/GL701-tc1000.htm $1600 including delivery, not bad, but i want 2 hide the fact theres a carputer in the car! im also kinda put off by the look of the face of the HU... and having the pc in the dash is kinda asking for people to come and break into the car... thats y im considering putting the pc box somewhere behind the backseats or under the front passengers seat.
  21. dont you think we should note which type of petrol and which petrol station as well? PULP works better then regular so yea... oilz aint oilz
  22. 2din HU doesnt fit my plans 4 my system! k lemme explain... ive ordered a 8"solobaric kicker coming direct from the US on the 13th of sept.. gonna make myself a custom fibreglass case to house it in the boot ALA silvabullits $300sub box still gotta find a decent amp 2 power it 4 the right price. future plans is to get this: LILLIPUT IN DASH MOTORIZED VGA TOUCHSCREEN, AM/FM, 4X45AMP, USB. as you can see its 1DIN. to go under this i need a 1din dvd/vcd/mp3/cd/ ipodready-(hopefully) Yes im aware of alpine HUs are able 2 play all regions but yea, my nearest jb hifi didnt have 1 in stock 2 show me. they only had the model with a lcd, and obviously im not after that 1 or any lcd from jb since they dont have a VGA input. i need the VGA screen 2 view the carpc im planning 2 put together. havent bought most of this stuff yet... still in planning stages but im pretty sure what i need 2 get 2 make this reality :) below is the case im planning 2 get... looks roughly the size of an average amp.
  23. i may have been naive by assuming that all corollas came from the same place... since 4 ages ive seen people keep wanting their cars JDM and others talkin bout their cars being made in SA... so which 1 is mine? how do i find out where it was made? may be a stupid question but i never thought to look 4 where it was made.
