  1. "Flush" is a reference to whether the outside of the tyres/wheels line up perfectly with the outer line of the bodywork (wheel arches). I have attached a photo of my previous setup, where if you look closely, the wheels sit just inside the arches, making them not quite flush but pretty good. We need to know what original tyre size and what original wheel width you have to make a call on scrubbing or not. A lot of guys have turned to 215/40 R17 tyres on their Sportivo because of the lower overall diameter (605, as I mentioned before, compared to the standard 620), as they don't scrub on lowered Sportivos. I would suggest that you are adding at least 1.5" to the wheel width, and probably at least 20mm to the tyre width. With a lowered car, that will mean some scrubbing. With a car at standard height, perhaps not. It's very much an individual application thing. Assuming your standard rims are 6" wide and a +45 offset (which they are likely to be), that means that the Crono's will give you 12mm less clearance on the inside of the guard, and the outside of the wheels will be 26mm further out. www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp In the end, it's your call...   2. 7.5'' may get scrubbing. search around i think someone put 7.5'' on. mines 7'' and they are fine. the 7'' also make the rim flush to the guards. Hang on, hang on, hang on....I assume the comment about the 7" rim being flush to the guards has respect to the offset? Because we must all remember that offset plays a huge part in whether the wheels are "flush" or not. With regards to scrubbing, lowering also has a significant effect... My research indicates that (in Australia at least) the Chrono 17s are 17x7", with a +37 offset. Tyre choice will depend on your original tyre size. Can you give us the low down on what your tyre placard says is the standard tyre size? On the Corolla Sportivo, standard diameter is 620, 205/40 is 595, 205/45 is 616, 215/40 is 605, 215/45 is 626.   3. Tends to be a bit of a personal preference thing. The E10 stuff (which contains up to 10% ethanol) tends to be a few cents per litre cheaper and allegedly deposits less carbon into the atmosphere, however it doesn't burn as efficiently so a number of independent tests have found that cars running E10 run slightly higher fuel economy numbers than cars running regular unleaded or premium (95/98) unleaded. This makes the difference over an extended period negligible (in terms of longer term running costs etc). In NSW regular unleaded is being phased out (as the Government has mandated rules about selling 20% of all petrol sold as E10 etc) by July 2011 so you will have a slightly different choice soon (if you live in NSW of course...): E10 (which apparently has a slightly higher octane rating than the old regular unleaded, ie 94~95RON) vs 95RON premium vs 98RON premium. FYI, according to the FCAI website your Levin will be useable with E10, as in fact most modern cars that only require 91RON petrol are. Hope this helps.

  7. It sounds like this is all happening on our public roads, in which case there wouldn't be much need for a driving style which resulted in heaps of burning tyres/massive axle tramp.... Traffic light grand prix are best left for video games, as the Commodore and the BMW 135i coupe I saw last night discovered... Remember, after all, we are driving Corollas...
  8. Best morning tea at the track. Ever. So many creamy pastries...Not good for my track times Oh, and the driving was fun too... Improved my times throughout the day, and had a ball doing it. Got swamped by a huge contingent of turbocharged vehicles (and one LHD Corvette Z06.... ) but had good fun. Even managed to stick to the back of a VE Commodore SS ute in the twisties, thanks to Wakefield being pretty tight. All those contemplating track days: give it a whirl! Adrian
  9. Prep completed. The Sportivo is ready for liftoff tomorrow at Wakefield. Weatherchannel says no rain for Goulburn tomorrow, but will it remain that way? Only time will tell. Let's hope the Toyota Corolla Shoppingtrolley holds together! Hoping to post some info up on Saturday some time with how the day went, and whether my settings worked out nicely or not. Adrian
  10. That's a really long sentence...punctuation FTL, obviously... The Koni shocks are adjustable so I will be playing around with them a bit I think. Will set them at 3/4 and see how we go to start. Will be trying to dial in some more negative camber, and that should do me for now. 38psi will be my cold front tyre pressure (at least to start with), as they'll warm up pretty quick. My QFM A1RM pads go in tomorrow, and with some GP600 fluid, the brakes should go ok too. Probably should give it a wash before Friday...

Brakes are DBA Street series slotted all round, and I will be running QFM pads and Lucas GP600 fluid.

  14. Had the original bar re-welded (track day in one week) plus the replacement bar is still on order, so at least I'll still be getting the new bar when it arrives. Best of both worlds? We'll see after a vigorous bout of stress testing at Wakefield... Adrian
  15. They're a bit busy for my liking, but they're not all bad. Which tyres were you thinking? 225/35 or 215/40? Either way, big drop in sidewall so ride comfort musn't be your major priority. I looked into 18s, but couldn't justify the cost of the rims I wanted (I was looking at $2800-3000 for the set) and was never completely comfortable on potential ride quality and clearance considering my car is lowered. Not trying to convince you not to get them. I would love the look of 18s on mine, I'm just a little gun-shy! Adrian EDIT: Oops, just re-read and you were thinking 225/35. Sorry, I missed that bit.

Okay, so after searching long and hard, I have only been able to find a light sprinkling of info on people's track settings for the Corolla Sportivo. *Puts flame suit on.* What I was hoping to get from people is their (brief) experiences at Wakefield Park, and the settings they used (and the success or otherwise of same, if possible). I've found some info on setups for the Koni Sport shocks, which is handy, but I'm also after: Camber (and mode of adjustment if relevant, eq Whiteline camber pins etc): Toe: Tyre pressures: If you mention what brands of suspension/tyre items you have that might help too (ie I have Koni Sport, Eibach ProKit, Whiteline rear sway bar and front strut brace, and Federal 595EVO tyres in 215/45 17). I would love to be able to consolidate people's thoughts and experiences with their track setups. I have tracked cars before (my GTiR and my 3MPS), however this will be the Sportivo's first track day out. Would love to hear any hints or tips too, other than "helpful" things like, "FIll up with petrol before you go," "check your pressures before starting," and "have fun!" Ah, der, track days are always fun! Learning about one's car is, I think, an important part of driving in general. Thanks in advance guys and girls. Adrian
  21. Just heard back from Whiteline. My bar will be replaced under warranty, however new bars are not expected until January. :o Apparently the ZZE bar is under redevelopment, as a number of owners (as we have already discovered) have had minor issues (read their bars are breaking!!!!!) with the current bar. SD I know you are against re-welding, and I believe with good reason... However Whiteline have said as long as the re-weld is done properly, that will be more than okay until the new bars arrive. In the mean time, I have a track day in less than 3 weeks, and I need a solution... Suggestions? Adrian
  22. Thai, The exact same thing happened to my rear sway bar just last week. Just over one year since purchase, it snapped on the right (drivers) side, right on the weld. Have sent it back through Pedders to Whiteline to see if they will replace it. Can you tell me exactly when you purchased/installed your bar? This may be worth a call to Doug at Whiteline direct...:( Not good when I have a track day at Wakefield coming up in just under 3 weeks... Adrian
  23. Has anyone with a Sportivo had an issue with the CES piping tapping on the chassis, just before you hit the muffler? Any suggested solutions? I have already had different length hangars mentioned in my "Member Rides" thread, but do we have any other experiences or solutions? Adrian
  24. QTOOSEEMEE, Just FYI...: Hit the little "down" arrow next to your profile name in the top right corner of the screen, and when the drop down box appears, select "messenger." Then type in the user name of the person you want to type a message to (eg, Damnfuzz, hint hint nudge nudge). Then type your message and send. That way, you could limit your enquiry about your Pedders springs to someone who had Pedders springs and has expressed a willingness to assist you if possible... Or try CME-LFT, and I'm sure he'll help too. I even added photos... As I mentioned in your previous post, I had Sportsryder springs, and they lowered both the front and rear by 35mm. Final measurements were 335mm front and 350mm rear, measured from the centre of the hub to the guard lip. The space between the top of the tyre and the guard was 25mm front and 40mm rear (careful, all measurement taken with 215/45 17s on it). The Sportivo naturally sits bottom-up, so if you want a level appearance when stationary, you will probably need a set-up like many guys have, Kings lows front and Superlows rear. I can't tell if you're in NSW or not, otherwise I would offer you to trial my Sportsryder springs which are sitting around in a box at the moment. Now, no more flaming the new guy. But dude, send me a PM if want any more info. And yes, everyone, I love smilies.
