  1. Decided to post some images from a recent drive day on the Old Pacific Highway and Putty Road. They are making me happy in the wake of the loss of my busted rear sway bar...
  2. Oh no..... sway bar cracked! Argh! Sway bar removed (in two pieces), and sent back to Whiteline hopefully for replacement. Sad face. Also discovered that the last little part of the exhaust piping before the muffler is tapping on the chassis. Grrrrr. Need to take the car back to my exhaust shop and get them to put a gentle bend in it to clear the chassis... Double grrrrr.
  3. Oops, Pedders made a whoopsie. Make sure your invoice reflects that you purchased the lowered spring (part no. 2358/2359) and then go back and get them to sort you out properly. Gun for some freebies or something too I chucked in a photo of what my car looked like on Pedders Sportsryder springs, bearing in mind that its also on 17s and therefore the gap to the guards is slightly smaller than on stockies (215/45 R17s with rolling diameter of 626 rather than 620). Hope this helps. Adrian
  4. Spotted a black facelift Sportivo, lowered and on black 17s with a silver lip, at the intersection of Victoria Rd and Church St about 1.30-2pm ish yesterday arvo.
  5. Welcome! Another Sportivo amongst the ranks As already said, please no cannons. Cheap doesn't necessarily mean good, just check out all those crapbox Honda's and Mitsubishi's getting around with milo tins on the back... Read up, use the search function, and have fun! Adrian
  6. Strut bars. Do you mean strut bracing? As opposed to sway bars (otherwise known as anti-roll bars)? Whiteline make a front strut brace for the 05 Corolla. KSB603 is the part number (www.whiteline.com.au) I have one on my Sportivo (cost about $200), but I agree with and1, sway bars are far better BFYB in my opinion. I run a Whiteline HD rear sway bar as well. Adrian
  7. The CES Racing system should be 2.25" => upgraded to 2.5". After putting my '05 Sportivo on the dyno, I noticed biggest gains in lift (>6000rpm), but solid gains from about 3200rpm. Down low (ie under 2500rpm) my numbers are almost identical between standard and modified. BTW I have catback exhaust, headers and CAI from CES Racing.
  8. Spotted a black ZRE, lowered on Lenso GF7's in Tennyson Rd, Gladesville about 10:00am this morning. Nice. Very nice.
  9. Oops, file size a little too big... sorry everyone, especially you old 56K users... And no, the Corolla isn't orange...
  10. I'm running Pedders Sportsryder springs on my '05 Sportivo at the moment. I have 215/45s wrapped around my 17s, but the attached pic should give you an idea on ride height. I need to be careful getting in and out of steep driveways etc but its not unbearable. Shoot me a PM or just reply if you want any more info or measurements. Adrian
  11. Maybe the camera is broken at the moment...? As I say, HWP won't target and ping people that the camera would be getting anyway. I don't know the location real well, so I'm not sure about which way the camera faces. Might go for a drive tomorrow me thinks... If they were holding handheld devices, they were using Lidar. That means shooting cars at a distance.
  12. The stationary cameras operate from sensors in the road, called "piezo electronic detectors." You trip the first sensor by driving over it, then as you cross the second sensor the computer brain thingo calculates your real time speed. Too fast, and "FLASH!" And no, travelling really closely behind someone won't save you...Have a walk past a speed camera location and you will see the sensors embedded in the roadway. HWP won't target a location already monitored by cameras. They wouldn't run the risk of having a driver cop two fines for the same offence on exactly the same location. They often run traps with a "chase car," so one unit can shoot the speed and the other goes after the offending motorist. The 2nd HWP car is often hidden from immediate view. Think Mona Vale Road as an example of this. Another reason for running multiple cars is if they were using the ANPR system, catching unregistered or stolen cars, as well as unlicenced/suspended/disqualified drivers. As an aside, radar/lidar operates differently to the static cameras, allowing Police to "shoot" your speed from hundreds of metres away. djc, there is a speed camera on King Georges Road, between Stoney Creek Road and Edgbaston Road. Is this the one you mean, near the primary school? If so, it will be focussing on the location outside the school, as it is a variable speed limit camera. There is also a red light camera at the intersection of King Georges Road and Stoney Creek Road. There is a safety camera at King Georges Rd and Moorefields Rd, but that's up the road at Roselands. All the camera sites are listed on the RTA website, even though I believe they shouldn't list them at all... Everyone should be travelling at the limit or just under it anyway, so camera locations shouldn't need to be spoon fed to those drivers who can't keep to the limit. The good Lord gave us trackdays for a reason... I have no dramas with HWP running speed traps for the drivers who slow down for cameras (usually to 10km/h under the limit, very annoying) and then speed up again (back over the limit, also annoying). Stupid enough to get caught = stupid enough to have to deal with the consequences. And yes, I've been caught once before by a camera. And this business of warning everyone where HWP are working at...that's just strange. Personally, I don't have much time for people who are keen on helping others avoid punishment for breaking the law. But that's just me... *Prepares to be flamed like a fire at a gas bottle factory...*
  13. Welcome! Colour? Are there any mods planned? Enjoy the FAQ and common mod threads, they will give you a great idea on what to tinker with next! Adrian
  14. Final preparations...check pressures, grab CB radio... Time to go!
  15. That's where the Koni quotes came from... But Greg carries KYB too send him an email, I say. Adrian
  16. Bit confused... If you were keeping a safe distance (ie a distance great enough to stop safely in an emergency), and driving safely, how did you manage to rear-end your mate? You don't need to be going fast to leave tyre marks on the road, but hopefully ABS prevented your brakes from locking up on maximum brake pedal pressure, hence no "skid" marks. ABS means longer stopping distances but allows you the ability to steer around objects, or so the system is supposed to work...:( As you say, most important thing is that no-one was injured. Cars can be repaired, but death is kinda final... You will learn and improve from the experience, and in a while this will be nothing but a bad memory! Bring on more driving and modding... Adrian
  17. $250 each for Koni Sport fronts, $200 each for Koni Sport rears. $900 for the set. Well, that's what I got quoted recently...
  18. Koni Sport yellows for 250 front and 200 rear, so your KYB prices sound about right? ish?...*shrugs shoulders and wonders whether he can afford to save for Koni's...*
  19. As much as you can actually trust the weatherman...Weatherzone says fine and sunny on Sunday. Bring on the cruise!
  20. Not sure about standard pressures for you, I run 40psi in my 17s... <_< In terms of dressing up the wheels you have, you could try and source some Toyota centre caps if they will fit. They just feature the Toyota symbol. Maybe try a wreckers? Adrian
  21. is now packing a front strut brace. Now to wash the car...

  22. Whiteline front strut brace added this morning. After arguing with the strut top bolts in order to get them off, all is well. Now to find some corners to test out the new found rigidity...
  23. 1. Big Pete 2. sikwitit (maybe) 3. VF-X (maybe) 4. juvenile 5. master.Cuong (maybe) 6. GTL05T 7. A. Rice (maybe) 8. Damnfuzz 9. xcellenc3 10. addy287 (maybe) 11. Boy Castle (maybe)
  24. Ah, Damnfuzz joins Team CES Racing! Yay! Love it.
