  1. Well I've sort of been considering buying a prado and just pouring about 30k into my aurion and doing it up properly, engine, suspension, interior, exterior the works, build a proper aurion show car with a bit of muscle (; And I've been considering the 2GR-FSE, 3UZ-FE, or maybe even an old 1JZ-GTE and using that, then it's just a question of whether or not to go RWD or AWD
  2. I've been doing a small amount of research (by which I mean next to none so far) as to whether or not a 2GR-FSE Platform would fit in the aurion as from memory it produces 230kw normally aspirated, with an ecu that would allow implementation of an aftermarket unit then find out if there is a RWD vehicle with a similar wheelbase to perform a manual RWD conversion
  3. Would anyone happen to know the bulb type for the reverse lights, I am wanting to replace them with HIDs
  4. Three beautiful aurions all in the same shot! All of you guys should be so proud of your sweet rides
  5. Thank you muchly for that! Very comprehensive and referenced too (:
  6. Welcome to the club mate, so glad someone here can search first then ask (: As far as I am aware there are very little in terms of power producing mods, the CAI provides almost negligible gains, an exhaust will provide you with some though I believe a full system is difficult to achieve through the placement of the exhaust sensors, though some have had luck have a look at darius and vf-x's members rides pages, a trd supercharger ordered through Eton is possible If I remember correctly, the aftermarket ecu's are mainly piggybacks and there is no full system as of yet. Everything else comes down to wheels, tires, suspension and weight reduction
  7. Hey guys I kinda need help, I'm trying to work out how to remove my parcel shelf but cant for the life of me work out how, I've gone through the audiovisual manual and can't really deduce how (I'm an idiot I know) anyway if anybody could write how or even put up some photos it would be greatly appreciated
  8. I've been having issues with my base model cd player not reading CDs properly, has anyone else had this issue
  9. Wow really nice aurion, would love to know how you opened the headlight enclosures to install the angel eyes. Sweet wheels and a really good stance man
  10. Contact the seller and ask if they supply plugs, if not do your research on what kind of plug it is and buy one off eBay, If that yields no results then I would solder the end of the wires in the same shape as the male pins that would fit into the plug, then insert them into the female end, that way you aren't butchering your factory wiring whilst still maintaining a strong connection to the plug
  11. I tried to put new 6x9s in my doors as a little side project to my current audio overhaul, I can tell you they are anything but a quick job, unless you got slim line 6x9s you will need a 1inch spacer, but the mounting diameter is larger than your average spacer, when I get back home in a couple of days I'll upload some pics, but it isn't a five minute job
  12. I've got an 06 atx and have never had quite such poor fuel economy, I race everywhere I hate traffic to death and I'll still get a weeks worth out of a tank, and on the highways for my job I can manage 700ks per tank Do you often drive around in sports shift mode? I've found that improper use of it (eg. Not up changing till high revs etc.) can be highly detrimental for your economy
  13. Chicken: the lights would be dimmable if I added and inline adjustable dimmer but each door would have be done seperately as they piggy back off the puddle lamps, alternatively as a permanent solution I could extend the wire from the transformer to the cathode, but I like them bright as they aren't on when i drive. Nothing really protects them as I don't put anything inside the pockets, but they will be replaced by surface mounted LEDs when they turn up which will also be located in the knee high pockets too :D Yeah the colour isn't my favourite either, I'm going for blue and then I'm getting UV down lights for under my bonnet and then I'm going to put green uv cable sleeving on all the hoses and wires in my engine bay
  14. hey guys, i got a little bored today so i decided to put the green cathodes i had lighting up my footwells to better use in my door pockets rigged to come on when the door opens :D im hoping nobody else has something like this yet, i haven't seen it done on any Aurions yet... if you guys are interested ill place a tutorial up
  15. yeah the subs go pretty hard (: still a few rattles here and there but no where near as many, although i half ****d the dynamat its not fully done yet just had a look at the audiovisual Camry manual and the instructions for removing the doors gave me a little inspiration to use some of the cathodes i had under the seats for a better purpose; Hopefully this a unique mod, i haven't seen it on other Aurions yet
  16. Cheers (: In the next few months I'll be fibreglassing the subs into the boot like BNO and adding a tutorial for others :D
  17. cheers mate, got given the opportunity from my father who sold a 2010 sportivo to a customer who wanted new rims straight up so dad scored the old ones for me for free :D yeah the VIP sticker is just a bit of personal flair for now, being a p plater i dont want the vehicle to stand out too much just yet haha no plans to lower as through what i've read on the forum so far and seen in person, once the vehicle is sitting on 20's there isnt much room haha
  18. hey guys thought i'd put up a few photos of the rig as it is at the moment before i start to really modify the vehicle as the car has; year/model; 2006 Toyota Aurion ATX Rolling stock; 17" 2010 Aurion Sportivo wheels Stereo components; 2x 12" soundstream picasso DVC 600w RMS Subs 1x 800w Lil wonder soundstream amplifier Interior Gadgetry; 20% blacked out tint 1 foot 2.2million colour ICELED led bar (boot illumination) 1x blue LED dome light 2x green 1 foot cathode underseat illumination 10% of car soundproofed (boot area) Wish list; New headunit, most likely an imitation of the stock one but with more features (; 20" rims Varex quad pipe exhaust Critical mass 6x9 speakers all round Angel eye headlights HID headlight bulbs LED Driving lights
  19. A work colleague of mine has been helping me sound proof my aurion as he has just finished his Camry, about 2 months ago he got 4 critical mass 6x9 speakers installed in his car with no issues... After a small amount of research I've found that the rs69 series by critical mass is a slimline series of 6x9 speakers of high power (and to a high degree cost) speakers designed for the US Camry, the virtual equivalent of the aurion.
  20. I've found through a rough eBay search that I can find the same kit I purchased for a quarter of the price with free postage
  21. Will do soon when I get near a computer. The dynamat was fairly exxy at $120, I purchased a door kit as I know it is just 4 massive strips will upload photos soon. The quarter panel is the panel where the fuel filler resides, or the rear quarter panel, the front one is the piece in front of and above the wheel arches. I'm running a dual sound stream set up off a stock head unit for now
  22. Just purchased a two door deadening kit (dynamat) from autobarn and installed in my boot lid, parcel shelf, quarter panels and number plate and now my dual 12" setup actually sounds like bass and not rattle :D The next step though is a long road of dynamatting the boot floor, cabin floor, cabin roof, doors and dynalining the bonnet
  23. To save yourself a reaming, try the search function. K&N offers a typhoon short ram intake mention in; As for the suspension I can't perceive many people will wish to sell the set up the have forked out for, for their aurions. But a look here will put you in the right direction;
  24. Mate all i know of the factory remap is things ive heard from mechanics who work for toyota, so i assume its an in house thing, it might become more available as e85's popularity increases. Possibly contact your local dealership and tell them You're going to make the switch, if you get someone who knows what they're on about they should be able to help.
  25. I do a fair amount of driving from mackay to the mines up here and typically ill get 650~700k's per tank, it's about a 520km round trip to north goonyella (my base mine) and back to my house, when i pull into my driveway it's just over half a tank remaining... Though my father, who has been a toyota salesman most of his life, and sold a bucket load of aurions since their beggining, he has given me many interesting facts about the car, such as; A quoted 204kw power figure on 98 octane and a quoted power figure of 212kw on e85 with a factory fuel remap. My distance figures are based off 98 octane fuels as theoretically if the car has a higher power figure (even if almost negligible) then at a given speed it will run at a lower RPM, though this has been difficult for me to prove as my speedo seems to be misreading...
