  1. This car is now for sale ...http://www.mr2australia.com/MR2play/tm.aspx?m=73515
  2. Welcome and good to see SA members
  3. Pretty hard for any of us to comment IMO for 2 reasons. Firstly, We do not know your family's financial situation to discuss whether financing a car of this value/type is a good idea or not. Price will probably be around a Golf GTI and repayments can be estimated perhaps. For a 1st year of work, there can be a lot of other necessary expenses that would need to be considered. Secondly, as the actual car in question is not released yet, its virtually impossible for anyone to give a detailed response on its ability/characteristics.....unless they are involved in the industry somehow. The release date is probably mid-year. Saying all that, the reports of the car are impressive, and given an option to own one I would certainly be happy with it over a Yaris, but I am not in your situation. And probably would not trade the MR2 in for it either..
  4. Yokohamas have suited me very well in the past. The A drive is fitted standard to the work corolla and performs very well for daily driving. My understanding is that the c.drives would perform better, particularly in the wet. For the MR2 - S.drives have impressed me very much after trying similar priced bridgestone and dunlop tyres

Someone suggested this in the early part for you - the MR2 forum. There you will find a bunch of MR2 enthusiasts with vast knoledge and experience, plus plenty of parts as cars get parted out etc.... http://www.mr2australia.com/MR2play/
  6. If your were in Aus i would recommend the supra forum, depending on what city i could possibly suggest a few places, but your location is "non-Au". Give more details and ppl might be able to help you out
  7. Welcome and good to see some SA ppl getting on here
  8. Driven - My Brother's modified '97 Supra Twin Turbo was nice but too quick for the street IMO, and his new stock 370Z is possibly "nicer". I have been driven in a 1970's Lotus Esprit which was VERY nice too. I've sat in the Lexus LFA and heard it but never driven in one.
  9. I'm not a fan of white wheels, so black is definately better IMO.
  10. I use Porterfield R4-S HP in my MR2. I source them from the states. Reviews were similar to EBC Greenstuff in performance, but with out the dust and noise which is why I chose them. I have these pads in for almost 4 years now with hard street driving, no track days, and can definately vouch for NO noise, and next to no dust. The stopping power seems very good IMO. I am adbout to order another set, to go along with my new slotted RDA rotors.
  11. an old pic but car still looks the same...
  12. There is no "need" for your car to be serviced at the dealership. All good mechanics should be able to perform the recommended work for a 90,000km service. There is no reason why your local mechanic can not get any "genuine" part either if it is required. I have been more than happy, and a bit wealthier, by using my local mechanic. Cheers

  16. mr2pod = I drive an MR2 and I'm a PODiatrist. Strated with it when I 1st joined the MR2 forum and its stuck with me now for 6 years, so I use it on all forums.
  17. The MR2 is definatley a better "driver's car", but less practical obvisouly. Looks is a personal thing. There are a number of other MR2's for sale (not just in Adelaide) that may be worth looking at if that is what you would rather. Personally, once you have driven an MR2 and enjoyed what mid-engined cars are like, I beleive it would be hard to get the same enjoyment from something else. Unfortunately for us owners they are getting older though.

  19. The previous code was "code 11" which i think means ECU (B+). I have not re-checked it. This has not happened in the past 6 months and just did it again last night. My car is not a daily so limited use but had driven it as daily for past 3 days. During this time the car would idle fine at 1000 rpm, but would have trouble in heavier traffic slowing from 50km/h to stops - when engaging clutch to change down gears the rpm would drop as normal but sometimes too far and the car would almost stall (it did twice and would have on other occasions had i not revved it). I have thought earthing could be a problem, but since this has not happened lately had not worried about it. Any suggestions would be welcome
  20. My Aw11 has an electric gremlin. The check engine light has come on intermittently in the past and my mechanic has failed to completely diagnose and eradicate it. So can someone please recommend me a good, reliable auto electrician Thanks

    Aw11 Questions

The MR2 was first produced in Japan in 1984. This is sometimes referred to as the AW10. It should have black side mouldings and bumpers instead of body-coloured ones. Check that it is an Aus delivered car vs Jap import, as the early model Jap import ran a 1.5 litre engine instead of the usual 1.6L Door rubbers, and the rubber gaskets around the fornt spoiler, side skirts, c-pillar tail lights are probably gone, along with suspension bushes. Check for body rust in wheel arches too. As for offset, this is probably as wild as it gets and still looks damn good that i know of. The guys in the sates run much more extreme set ups but imo does not look good. Flares on these cares ruin the image imo F: 15x7.5 +29, A-disk, 195/50 R15 R: 15x8.5 +29, A-disk, 205/50 R15 http://www.mr2australia.com/MR2play/tm.aspx?&m=1132&mpage=17
  23. Hi all I own a 1988 MR2 S/C. Japanese imported G-Limited Targo Top Dark Blue. I have had this for the past 6 years, but lived in Tas up until 2009. Did not this place existed, been a member on mr2 australia since ownership though, under the same nick. Cheers
