  1. Hi mate, the dash shouldnt be cracking this after it was replaced or at all,you would think toyota would have worked out whats causing the cracking by now and the replacment dash made out of a improved material, especialy $1500 to $2000 to replace the dash, I not sure if the dash would crack again or not, but this is your second dash and its cracking so yeah I dont think I would be rushing out to get it replaced, do you live in a hot climate or does the car get parked out in the sun all day, what I read on prado point about this issue, it seems heat the biggest problem, have a read on prado point about this issue there have been a number of forum members with the dash cracking.
  2. Thanks mate, sorry been so long to reply,I forget to come over on the prado forum to check replys, I have to admit thats the sort of money I espected to replace the dash, but its still a lot of money to shell out for, especially when the dash should last the life of the car and you shouldnt need to replace the dash, I heard so many different things that could be doing it Im not sure whats causing the problem, have a look on prado point about the same problem its worth a read.
  3. I have heard the sludge issue with v6 engines in the us and the odd engine over here, but I think its more to do with lack of maintainance and missed services, did you buy the car new or do you get the car regulary serviced because in general I think the toyota v6 and other engines are pretty durable and reliable. The cost of a new v6 engine would be eye watering exspensive , yeah a low km used engine would definetly your best bet, 3.5 v6,2GRFE is a common engine, so you wont have any problems locating one, theres wreckers in metropolitan areas that just specialise in wrecking toyotas, they would be the ones I would try, hopefully mate everything goes well for you and lets us know how you get on.
  4. Welcome mate, yeah the aurion would have to be one of the quickest p plater cars on the road,it would give most v8 a hiding, mate I wish I had aurion as a first car, $10000 is a bargain for such great car.
  5. Welcome to the forum mate, yeah the are a great looking car , Im still impressed with the power and economy of the 3.5 v6. I change my oil and filter on my kluger every 5000kms, its pretty easy, only thing you will need is the special filter wrench to undo the filter housing, where the paper cartridge filter is in, I bought my filter wrench from my toyota dealer at the parts department, but most automotive places should have them, I not sure about your other question regarding servicing in eltham, im from nsw, but ultra tune or repco service centres are pretty good if you have one in your area, someone hopefully from victoria on this forum might beable to help you more than me, anyway mate chat with you later.
  6. Hi mazda girl welcome to the forum, Personally if you can aford to pay a little extra, I would go new, reason being what they want for second hand hiluxes and the kms they have travelled for the money is just ridiculous, but the reason is there so sort after, they are a great ute, thats reliable and tough and even after all the newer more modern utes that have been realesed since the current model hilux , there still my pick of the utes in my oppinion, I how ever like the new mazda bt 50, the new 3.2 5 cylinder turbo diesel is perler, I took one for a drive and Im v6 petrol man and I was blown away how well they go,I would give the navaras a miss there a piece of rubbish I have spocken to a number of unhappy owners that wished they had kept there hiluxes and not bought the navara, Im probadly biased, but I still love the hilux.
  7. Welcome mate to the forum, yeah the kluger is a great car to drive, if you want to have a chat with other happy kluger owners have a look over on the kluger forum we love to chat with you about any thing about your kluger anyway mate look forward to chatting with you later.
  8. Hi mate welcome to the forum, Im not sure if you live in a metropolitan centre where there is a couple of toyotas or not, if you do, take it to the other dealer and get there oppinion, but they might treat you like you like you were born yesterday and give you a bullsh!t story, like its normal, anyway its worth a try, you could also have a look on the pradopoint web site and see if any other 150 series owner are having the same problem, they shouldnt be that noisy, the couple of d4d prados and hiluxes that I have driven have a little bit of a whistle but are not to bad and you certainly hear it a longway down the road, another thing you could do if theres one in your area is go to a diesel care centre they will definetly beable to point you in the right direction.
  9. Welcome to the forum mate, your best bet for information is prado point web site, you may have join up to post your question, you may have better luck than I did joining, I tried a couple of times when I had my 120 prado and didnt seem to have much luck, but it is a great web site for prado owners, with a wealth of knowledge, your other option is going have a chat with the arb guys who installed the bullbar, they might know to adjust the suspension or know suitable shocks or springs for the prado, I not sure does the kakadu have air shocks?, anyway hopefully they can help you out. The prado are nice cars , IM jealous, I would love a new prado, especialy the kakadu, I have to make do with the old kluger for the moment, but will get a second hand 150 v6 prado in a couple of years.
  10. Hi john , welcome to the forum mate, the 2011 model towbar should fit, because like you said the 2010 update was only cosmetic and nothing major. John I give you the towbar part number of my 2007 kluger and see if its the same as your one. TOWBAR PART NO PZQ64-48030 TONGUE PZQ63-48030 Hopefully there the same numbers as yours, fingers crossed, you could ring or call in to your toyota dealer and ask the spares department, they should be able to put you on the right track mate.
  11. Welcome to the forum, good to see your happy with the kluger, if you want to chat to other kluger owners, come over and have a look over on the kluger section, look forward to chatting to you later mate.
  12. Welcome to the forums, the chip may improve economy slightly, you may need a complete package with chip and good free flowing exhaust and get it tuned by a diesel care specialist, have a look over on the 4wd action web site the lots of guys over there with modified 70 series they put you on the right track. I love the sound of a those v8, especialy with free flowing exhaust.
  13. Hi mel, the filter that was on ebay is the wrong type, its for the first generation klugers, our kluger uses a paper cartridge type, which you will need a special filter wrench to undo the filter housing, I think there filters worth about $23 the last time I bought one, only other way is price the oil and filter at automotive supplier and then you can compair the prices, personally I would still stick with geniune filters, but the oil should be okay if you dont buy geniune, as long it is the same grade you will be fine.
  14. Hi mik , I love those old trucks, I use to own 1983 HJ47,the first toyota I ever owned, she powered by the mighty 2H diesel, she wasnt fast but she was strong and reliable and I could go just about any where, I sold mine about 12 years ago, I needed a family car, so the cruiser had to go , my old girl was starting to leak fuel into the oil, but she had nearly 450000kms on the clock and apart from the fuel leaking into the oil, she ran great, I also learnt to drive in one of these old cruisers too, 1972 model and got my licience in my old mans 75 series ute, so I had long love affair with landcruisers and especialy toyotas, I also from the central west in dubbo, if I was picking out a landcruiser in the 40 series range , I would pick either a hj47 or fj 47, they were the last of the 40 series and my old hj47 had power steering and front disk brakes, I cant quiet remember if the hj 47 came with a 5 speed manuel or not, mine was 5 speed, so I dont know if the previous owner swapped the over the transmission or not. I also thought about buying another old cruiser to restore, but my missus would shove it up my a$$, a good web site to find out information about the 40 series is on the 4wd action web site, theres a fair few owners on there with a great knowledge. Sorry i couldnt be more help, reading your post bought back some memorys.
  15. Hi chickenwing, welcome to the forum, mate have a look over on the kluger section, there have been a number of members that run the klugers on lpg, I think there gen 2 klugers, but it worth a look, if no luck finding anything, put a post in the kluger section, somone should know.
  16. I cant quiet remember how much toyota charges for there oil now , because I havent bought oil of them for a few years now, but it wasnt all that much more exspensive, I use 10w 30, which I think is a semi synthetic oil, I buy mine in 20 litre drum, because my other car uses that grade of oil aswell, I use castrol gx3 10w30, which is around $120 a 20 litre drum, but you can get at any automotive place in 5litre containers, but you will need more than 5litres as I think the kluger needs around 6 litres of oil for a oil change, but if you buy 2 you will only have to buy one for the next service. Vipers right buy geniune filters and you cant go wrong, there not much dearer. If you have any doughts go to a automotive supplier they will look up the best type of oil for the kluger, but I havent had any problems with the 10w30 castrol , I have used it now for the last three toyota v6s and had no problems.
  17. Yeah I have done it on many occasions, you can buy the genuine oil and filter at your toyota dealer, personally the genuine oil isnt too bad price wise, to change the filter make sure the mechanic has the proper filter tool to undo the oil filter.
  18. So im assuming that the toyota models fitted with 3.5v6 get the extra 4kw not just the aurion and lexus?
  19. Thats rotten luck jamie, those bloody kangaroos can make a mess of cars, my uncles been in the same situation with his aurion,as long as everyones all right and no one got hurt, except that bloody roo, hopefully you get the aurion fixed up properly and she back on the road again, hope everything goes good for you.
  20. I use 98 , bp ultimate in the kluger, I have tried 95, but couldnt really couldnt see much of a difference over 91, but my old prado ran better on 95 it gave the best power and economy for the price and yeah I couldnt see any difference over 98, I not sure if the you get another 4kw when using premium, the only way is to put it on dyno, and whether that small of increase would read up , I dont know, I only asked the question to see if any of you guys have heard whether or not if its true or not.
  21. Hi everyone, I was reading a motoring colume in a old newspaper, and it said when you use 95 premium unleaded in the aurion, the power goes up from 201kw to 205kw. So does the same apply to the kluger or even the v6 RAV4 or tarago, they all have the same 3.5v6 engine, so it be the same. I know when I use premium unleaded , the car feels more liverly , so whether not its got the extra 4 killerwasps or not I dont know, so thought I ask you guys.
  22. Hi mel, welcome to the forum, mel I use 10w 30 oil and geniune toyota oil filter, when I get my kluger serviced at toyota they use 10w 30 oil aswell. Getting you car serviced at other mechanics is ok, if out of warranty, some service centres do warranty log book services, there the ones I would be using, I cant quiet remember how much a 60000kms toyota services are for the kluger, I think theres a price chart on one of the treads on how much a 80000kms service is, what I would look when servicing is make sure the mechanic has exsperience servicing klugers and uses quality parts , preferby geniune parts and filters and good quality oil, apart from that you should be right.
  23. Hi everyone, I was wondering does the water dripping down off your tailgate a problem when you open it after it has been raining drip down on you or down your back, because it has happened to me a couple of times now and isnt pleasant, especially when its cold, thats the last thing you need on a cold winters morning, cold water dripping down your back, I know there nothing that you can do about it and its probadly common sense it should drip water down after its been raining, but I wonder does it give you the willys, like it does me, I actually sore a funny thing a young mother getting a pram out of the back of her kluger and it had been raining and she opened the tailgate and the water dripped all over her,she was pretty p!ssed off, I knew how she felt though, so I ask the question has the water on your tailgate caught you out after it has been raining and dripped on you.
  24. Hi loon, thats excellent news mate :) , yeah I find on toyotas in generel you have to push the brake peddle down harder than other makes to get the brakes to work, but it could be me to, but its good that hill holder is working , it makes reversing out of a car park on a slope so much easier.
  25. Hi mate , sorry mate I dont know whats causing the problem, what I can suggest mate is if knowone answers you question on this forum is sign up on the 4wd action forum and then post up your question, theres probadly more 200 series owners reading on the 4wd action forum than this forum, also another good landcruiser forum is LCOOL web site, sorry mate I couldnt be more help, I love 200 series landcruisers, oneday when I can afford one I buy one.
